PENN STATE: I expect Penn St to have some success in the run game early (Oregon usually catches up and figures teams out by the 2nd and 3rd quarters, and will eventually shut down the run game). I also expect Penn St to pass often past Oregon’s secondary (there are some vulnerabilities there), this will be their best way to take down Oregon - and Penn St’s passing average is better than Oregon’s. Drew Allar: 207 passing completions @ 71% _Rank #37 (not bad) this means he relies on his pass. Penn state does well defending against 6 game winning teams but struggles creating a point spread against opponents with 7 game wins and over.. [1 win and 1 loss against ranked teams] Penn St = 362 total tackles and 32 sacks for the season (Average 19.25 pt spreads on away games). Penn St’s defense is among the best, I’m not convinced they will be able to overcome the best Offensive line in the country and hence not stop the Oregon offense as the game carries into the second half. OREGON: I expect Oregon come out running the ball - and testing the defense’s discipline - they will test Penn with the war of attrition.. this is the Oregon way (no huddle, hurry up and uptempo offense) Oregon = 665 total tackles and 39 sacks for the season-[10 sacks came in the last game]. (Average away win spread = 23 pts). [3 wins against ranked opponents]. Oregon will have the speed edge playing in a comfy stadium.. Tez Johnson (WR) is back .. AND we now have a healthy Jordan Burch (DE), Terrence Ferguson (TE) as well as Tez - back and rested - they showed their style of truth against Washington. I don’t expect Jordan James not to be looking to crack someone in the mouth.. As long as Dillon Gabriel stays steady and rides the atmosphere - Oregon should win ‘handily’. Dillon Gabriel: 275 passing completions at 73.5%_Rank #10 (best completion % in the country) due to his vision/confidence. Let's not forget (easily dismissed by most commentators) - Oregon's Offensive line is top notch and Penn st needs to get to Dillon to be effective - This will not be as easy as Penn St thinks! CONCLUSION: Oregon's Dan Lanning will win the psychological war here and out-coach Penn's coaches - He will be ready! Oregon’s ‘consistent’ defense has been phenomenal and will be the game changer.. Oregon’s defense will come after QB Drew Allar often and with ill intent to win this game - very likely leaving Penn St’s Drew Allar too shaken to be pertinent. Also, Penn St probably will not be able to stop the Oregon run game, and if left unchallenged - Oregon’s offense will run up the score. 16-38 Oregon
Sanctions created a lack of depth which led to the Rose Bowl loss against USC after the Big 10 championship. One point losses to Ohio State in 2017 and 2018 were from running out of gas in the 4th quarter. You know, the need for depth with talent. 2019 at Minnesota is on Franklin. It was not until 2022 that Penn State could finally have depth and talent at most position groups. Yes, NIL is a real thing and gets you 5 star talent. With the outstanding culture of Penn State (although the personal fouls and jumping offsides is a detractor from that) they can be elite if they ever figure out the NIL situation.
It seems to me that the Vegas line is correct. Especially because Oregon must travel 2000 miles. That said, Oregon has a great defense as does Penn State and Oregon has more offensive weapons and a better QB. Oregon won't try to throw the long ball unless they get the match-up they want with their wide receivers. Oregon will be happy to dink and dunk down the field, Oregon can run the ball better than Penn St.
Yeah. I largely agree. I will say I think Allar could be the best QB in the conference if he had receivers of Oregon's caliber. No disrespect to Gabriel. Phenomenal QB and the Ducks are lucky to have him. Should be close game. I expect Penn State defensive line will do better than OSU, but the secondary may struggle a bit. Offensively you'll see more out of Penn State than Ohio State saw from them, but I have a hard time seeing it being enough.
Penn State has had to struggle on a lot of fronts not the least being lack of alignment with the administration in order to keep rising. it's at its peak developmentally in terms of recruiting but it's not at the level of the top programs that have been in the playoffs. it has a Paterno tradition of trying to win with high character kids. so the game management criticism of Franklin misses the point. if he wins a big game it will still be overachieving.

@ how?
@@slibertas1996 Indiana got crushed by Ohio State. Penn State had a chance
@ Indiana scored more points throughout the season. Ohio State lost twice so they’re under both Indiana and Penn St
@@slibertas1996 Empty calorie stat. How many points did Indiana score against Ohio State who is #1 in scoring defense? Indiana didn't beat any teams ranked in the top 25. And IU's SOS is 65 while PSU is 36. Just be happy you're going to the playoffs.
3.5 about right based on comparable team stats
Penn State 21 Oregon 16
Perv State 14 Oregon 28
That's cute.
What you been smoking, son? ......Space weed?
3.5 ? Hahahahaha. The people in Vegas are high on drugs. The Ducks will win by 28.
Mark my words!
Oregon 42
Penn State 17
Jesus Christ the ad reads make this unwatchable
why is andy so mean to Ari?
As long as Franklin is head coach PSU won't win a big game.
Going with penn state they produce far better nfl talent and will win in 2016 big 10 championship style. Remember Washington in the rose bowl number 1 rush defense saquon walked all over them and made it look easy. West coast teams can’t bang, never could outside USC
PSU look at the Oreg/Wisconsin tape..copy it...think PSU makes it a game..31-27. Oregon
No chance Penn St hangs with Oregon
Penn State schedule was not difficult this year so they need to capitalize as it wont always be that way. I dont trust James Franklin vs any good teams, obviously.
I am predicting Penn State to win 20-17, provided they run & play defense.
One last thing, Penn State should thank Michigan for once again doing what Franklin cannot do. Franklin cant beat OSU or Michigan, Day can't beat Michigan.
Sherrone Moore already 3-0 vs Franklin & Day
I'm rooting for Penn State to win it all.
Evil James!
i think ducks by 10
