As a C7 and boosted S550 owner I think you are giving the C7Z a bit too much credit. Yes it’s a fantastic car and yes you feel the weight in the GT500 but the GT500 gives up nothing to the C7Z in cornering ability. The GT500 ran the same lap time at VIR as the C7Z and it can go rounds where as the C7Z would likely go into limp mode. The predator 5.2 is a coyote variant which is very reliable. Probably more reliable than the GM LT motors. I do like the Vette cockpit but the GT500 infotainment screen is vastly superior in clarity and it actually responds when you touch it. GT500 wins by a long shot if you need a good daily but I know most don’t daily these cars.

Everyone knows the C7 Z06 only goes into limp mode for overheating heating which can be resolved by changing to the ZR1 bumper or added intercoolers/heat exchangers. The GT500 cant go rounds with a C7 ZR1 without getting demolished, while you only need a couple upgrades to make the Z06 as fast in a straight line and to keep out of limp mode. As of now i can only agree that the 5.2 predator is reliable, but it should be since its the top trim mustang and the other and gens had their problems for a while.

As a Z06 owner with bolt ons and E50 the Z06 is an overall better car. It's fast in a straight line but also on the track too. On top of that it looks better because it draws more eyes than a GT500 because it's more exotic looking, I get SOOO much attention in this thing. The only people snapping their necks to look at a GT500 are car people but I get everybody turning to look at my car especially since I have the ZR1 body kit, hood and high wing included and lowered on an 18" drag pack setup. The interior makes ypu feel like you're in an actual race car the way the cockpit is setup and tailored towards the driver.
As someone with a regular 24' Mustang GT, I'll say right now, you get way more attention than you're giving credit for, car guys or not. I've had everyone from older ladies and men giving compliments, to young kids jumping and yelling. And a Shelby GT350 or GT500 makes my car look like regular traffic... I can attest to the fact you can see one with stripes half a mile down the road. Not an exaggeration.

If you want fast acceleration, the GT500 wins. If you want good feel, handling with slightly worse acceleration, then the Z06. If you track a lot then no question the Z06. But for most drivers who enjoy a pull here and there, GT500 is a better choice, most aren't taking corners at 2Gs.
Both great cars. I think later model C7 Z06s fixed the heat soak and cooling issues. They dont suffer from heat soak as much. 2019 manual Z07 package would be the C7 Z06 to get. 👌
C7z it’s the one offered with a manual and I don’t trust the gt500s transmission when adding power,…plus the weird delay with launch control in gt500s kill the fun when racing

cant agree; debated on both; ended up getting a gt500; for sure a track pack is the way to go if you want the most capable version; nonetheless; the handeling pack is a great car all around. The only thing that turned me away from the Z was the blower heat soak; and that A8 transmission. The 5th gear especially. No way your saying that the dud A8 is as good as the tremec lol. Nonetheless, C7z is still an exceptional car though.

@@LKfoodstuff bolt on for bolt on the predator is better than the lt4. The predator platform can make mid to upper 900s with ported blower; e85; and headers pulley tune. You cant do that on the lt4 unless you open the motor; and swap the super charger. The lt4 torque is addicting and if you go with a 7 speed zo7 you can't go wrong. Later years for the matter because cooling was "addressed" in the latter end of production. Drive both and see which one speaks to you bro.
Seems like both cars would be fantastic to own and drive. The C7 Corvette Z06 was developed quite a bit earlier as compared to the GT500 so it lacks many refinements and technologies. The S550 Mustang GT500 deals with some constraints due to being integrated into a cheaper, high volume chassis. Both engineering teams implement different powertrain, suspension, and aerodynmic philosophies to achieve similar performance goals. In my opinion, it is hard to say one philosophy is objectively superior to the other. I do think it very much depends on what the driver values and what their vehicle characteristic preferences are. I value low-end torque and a manual transmission because it gives me a street driving experience that I enjoy as I do not track my vehicle. Others may truly enjoy high-reving power and instant shifts between gears that offers a certain race-inspired experience. I am sure there are many other characteristics folks desire as well. Overall, I love the car community because we are able to analyze, disect, and develop our opinions and choices and then vote for what we like with our hard-earned dollars. A 10.6 compared to a 10.9 in the 1/4 is huge. So thats covered...Roll the Z06 falls on its face on top end...There is no tie in comparing these numbers. With over 39,000 Z06 prudenced and with only 14,000 GT500 prudenced that's a huge factor as well. Both cars are great for their specifics. I think name plate means something as well. People that aren't even into cars they know what Shelby means Z06 not as much. I'll never understand the hate for either brand that people have all are great and just glad i grew up in this era to enjoy it
Having 3 pedals, and taking corners in the C7Z at 100mph is also not comparable between both as well! Both great machines, but both night and day in different comparisons.
If you want an outdated car, get the C7 ZO6. Now the C8 ZO6, if though it is not boosted, is kind of a turn off but still a fantastic car. I have owned a C7 ZO6 and a 2021 Shelby GT500. This guy is really giving way too much credit to the corvette. You can't compare the acceleration. Having said that, both cars are nice.
C7 looks better , but the gt500 more rare, you just don’t see them. Just don’t like that gt500 doesn’t have a manual like the gt350 did. Personally I’d take a viper over both, gt500 2nd place for resale value , but c7 zo6 best overall value and easier to drive.

By any measurement you can put a number on, the GT500 is a better car. Now, if you like the C7Z due to subjective things like looks and sound, that’s okay too, but it doesn’t make it the better car, just the car you like more… IMO the 500s exhaust is more toned and composed and it looks helluva a lot more aggressive than the corvette (which is my subjective opinion). And finally, the Predator 5.2 and DCT is far more capable combination than the pushrod motor and converted auto trans. Both are badass cars, can’t go wrong with either, but objectively the 500 is the better car.
It can beat the c7 z06 at a drag race and roll race because it has a lot more power....great...it's still not better on track, doesn't use as much fuel, and doesn't chew through tires like the gt500 does.

So honestly, yes the mustang vs the camaro, but it seems Ford wanted the gt500 to be compared to the zr1 as well I guess. I want to say the Ford GT competes against the zr1, however its such a niche car and so insanely expensive that it seems weird to compare them. However, the zr1 does still beat it on the track, but due to being light weight and less aero the gt pulls in a roll race.

For dollar to dollar the Corvette gives you so much for the money. But it always been that way. GT500 holds its value better over the long haul. You really can’t go wrong with either one but that manual is the tie breaker for me and convertible GT500 offers neither but the 2014 does makes you wonder what the crap Ford been doing lately. a GT with a twin turbo kit can make far more than 1000 bhp. Ive seen one with an ESS supercharger making 1400.

@ C6 ZR1 would loose to a GT500. It can certainly kill off S197 GT500s.
It can beat the c7 z06 at a drag race and roll race because it has a lot more power....great...it's still not better on track, doesn't use as much fuel, and doesn't chew through tires like the gt500 does.

@voodoodiecast yes, but unfortunetly i think Ford did take a stab at the c7 zr1 as it makes 760hp. We all know the back and forth these companies do, chevy goes 755, Ford just had to go more. So honestly, yes the mustang vs the camaro, but it seems Ford wanted the gt500 to be compared to the zr1 as well I guess.
I want to say the Ford GT competes against the zr1, however its such a niche car and so insanely expensive that it seems weird to compare them. However, the zr1 does still beat it on the track, but due to being light weight and less aero the gt pulls in a roll race.
Why are people still comparing these two cars? The Corvette suppose to be faster than a Mustang because the Corvette is a super sports car but the Mustang is a muscle car 🤷

@@armed3dangerous270no they aren’t lol the c8 z06 can’t even do 190 mph the slowest Lamborghini which is the huracan evo does 213 mph and the McLaren 570s the slowest McLaren does 213 mph as well now if you’re talking about the new zr1 then sure it’s faster than every Lamborghini but the zr1 is still slower than the 30 year old mclaren f1 with 400 less horsepower than the new zr1

100K+ GT500 can definetely be compared to a Z06. They're both stepping up in weight class every year.

For dollar to dollar the Corvette gives you so much for the money. But it always been that way. GT500 holds its value better over the long haul. You really can’t go wrong with either one but that manual is the tie breaker for me and convertible GT500 offers neither but the 2014 does makes you wonder what the crap Ford been doing lately. If Ford doesn’t stop messing up the brand they’re going to be like Stellantis
