    Dude, you’re a genius. I looked at this video cause I like man I don’t have a special tool and you said a bolt. I turned around and grabbed one random bolt and turned around and it fit better than a tool would.

      Yessir. I'm glad I could help. Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to notice.

    I just changed my front tire, and this is a good instructional video. My only recommendation would be loosening the bolts on the brake assembly (but leaving it attached) before taking the wheel off; I had to apply a lot of torque, and the loose forks made it harder.

    I love the idea of an inverted bolt, I've never taken my front wheel off because of having to buy a huge Allen wrench to fit that hole, lol. However, not sure why you would take your calipers off since the wheel and disks would drop down clear of them. Also, you need to mention torque settings. People should be aware of when they have to put the wheel back on, they need a torque wrench and to know the settings of their wheel before doing major damage or not tightening them.

    Interesting. Floor jack would solve my issue of what tool I need for the street triple and the cb500 front tire. I got the rear stand and I can go get the floor jack since I need that anyway. Tools are expensive. Hope it works. Thank you.

    Heck yeah that's what ima do. I found out u can run a piece of rebar through the middle of the bike and put two Jack stands on each side and raise the bike with the back stand and then set ur floor stands under the rebar. Makes short work for removing the rear shock or adjusting things on the swing arm

    It’s key jack under where the collect into one as you don’t want to bend your headers.

    Thanks, I learnt something. I was wondering what could be the most secure to put the chain and lock through, I always heard that the front wheel is too easy to be removed. What about between the front fork on top of the fender? Cheers

      If you're trying to chain it up for security I'd run it through the swingarm, chain and rear wheel. But a thief will get anything if they want it bad enough.

      not true.Where they meet is pretty strong and back supported by frame.Most OEM headers are heavy overbuild and why weight junkies replace them both for sound as well

    the forks on mine are too tight to get the wheel, spacer, and speed sensor off from inside the forks on the axel bolt. Do I need to loosen the forks to get the wheel loose?

    I was thinking I could use my stand under the fork bottoms (with a helper to stabilize) to lift the front. This method seems more safe in preventing a bike drop.

      Hmmm... I've never thought of trying that. But yeah, floor jack under headers is definitely sturdier.

    • @SmallEngineRepair
      @SmallEngineRepair  5 років тому

      I've never used a motorcycle jack but there is so much plastic on street bikes, even underneath, I'd be a little scared to use it.

    I tried the bolt trick, but I just stripped the threads and even after grinding two sides flat, I still couldn’t get enough torque without slippage. I ended up going to NAPA and buying a socket for $20 that I’ll probably lose before the next front tire change.

    • @SmallEngineRepair
      @SmallEngineRepair  5 років тому +1

      Sounds like you need to loosen those 10mm bolts facing forwards a little more. It shouldn't be that hard to turn.

    2:42 the "special tool" if he'd put 2 nuts on that bolt thread he could've used a wrench.
