Wow, great to see the Coronation Pacific and the Britania Pacific at Stechford on diversions from the WCML Trent Valley section when it had been closed presumably for Electrification work, they would come off at Rugby then to Stechford and onto the New Street avoiding line joining it again at Aston and on to Stafford to rejoin the WCML. Saltley was one of the Stations where down trains would stop for tickets to be collected because New Street was open. I worked at Saltley loco 21a in the 1950/60;s
I never knew Saltley had a station.... presumably on the site next to/slightly north of the old shed/TMD? So, if that assumption is correct.... is that old Gasometer on the site of what is now the Lawley St Freightliner depot?
Wonderful images of another time. Thank you for posting John.
Very welcome
Great footage, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
What a great trip down Memory Lane. Regards, John
Many thanks!
Wonderful footage John particularly enjoyed Saltley with 92211 on what looked like the Bomford Bridge to Fawley empty tanks….

Nice footage. Even nicer: steam is still there in abundance, frequent and popular.
