I love the saying raising babies is simple, just eat when they eat, sleep when they sleep, wash dishes when they wash dishes, pay bills when they pay bills etc.

My son is a teen now and completely different from when he was little. He was a builder and inventor, spending his time in engineering classes and giving zero f's about anything artsy. I spent a lot of time in his classrooms and I was sooo sure he was going to be an engineer. Then in middle school he all of a sudden became extremely artsy and it's like his whole personality now. Art & music. Parenting never ceases to amaze me.

The fact that the cabbage baby thing being so fricken hilarious to me, and when Ash started laughing against their will and I was like "ya obviously it's beyond hilarious" really resonates with how I appreciate their sense of humor and I thought "No wonder I'm 29 and have been watching since I was in uni".

i love how much you respect your kids privacy! Its so cool seeing other trans people post about parenting, it makes it feel more real that i might be able to have kids once my financial situation is sorted. i'll be several years on testosterone at the point when im trying to get pregnant (im going to go off it four months before hand for safety reasons), and the idea of being a public spectacle is pretty scary. i live in a pretty safe area though so im at least not worried about any threats to my safety (other than my sanity). my wife has a much different sleep schedule than i do naturally, (shes basically nocturnal lol) so im hoping with that plus all the extra hands from other people in our polycule that we wont have the sleep deprivation issue as much.

*Babyproofing is so important! I remember so many people (including my family) when my kids were little, who firmly believed in just... training the tots to not go/touch in most of the home, and I always thought that was NUTS! Definitely better to make as much of the house a safe zone as possible, and put a barricade when it's not.
*Ash, I am truly in awe of your artistic talents. Your Appa and boulders are great!
*Thank you for sharing the adventure of your first year as parents, Ash and Gray. And good for you, protecting the kidlets' anonymity.

It’s really sweet seeing how I’m 2020, Ash was nervous for parenthood cause they thought they weren’t able to meet their kid’s needs, and then seeing them now! They’re so present, and caring, and wowie !! Seeing them and Gray learn about raising these kids and choosing to be compassionate and cautious is healing something I think. My childhood was really yucky and my parents weren’t like them. It makes me so hopeful though, that there’s gonna be 2 lil folks in the world with Ash and Gray’s vibes hehe

I've been following Ash for a few years but I just happened to watch their parenting-related videos today and, oh my god, it's just so recomforting to be able to see non binary people living a nice life, being a parent, sharing love... As a young adult trans person, I guess I have been struggling a lot lately to just imagine myself being able to have those things in my life. I just wanted to leave this comment of appreciation for Ash and Gray for sharing these bits of their lives and let them know that, just the fact that they are living their life to the fullest, is really important to some of us out there.
