Follow 110.3(B) - as most, if not all manufacturers require maintenance of their equipment/conductors and do provide instructions of the proper maintenance.-2023
I was an electrician in large maintenance shops for 50 years and over the years have witnessed more of what we called maintenance on the fly. In 1970 our shop worked 8 hours every Saturday for time & a halve then to only 5 hours then every other Saturday. Of course the company had more breakdowns that some times resulted in hundreds of people working overtime to make up for lost production. My last company did have us perform PM'S on the VFD'S but wanted us to check all connections & blow out drives with air compressor we carried on our tool carts that blow out moist air all summer. ( they refused to purchase water separator for air compressors ) I refused to do either unsafe work practices. Arc flash labeling is one big joke. Most equipment & installs never bothered with them. We had to two new 1,750 HP JCI compressors that were feed by 13,200 volts to an 13.2 to 4.2 KV transformer that feed a VFD in a cabinet that was 8' high and almost 20' long. Before they applied power I asked where where the Arc flash labels. Told me they were working in it. A year later when I retired they were still working on it. Told my company that they should hold back at least 10% of payment until arc flash labels are installed.
@@MikeHoltNEC Respectfully, I’m having a hard time following your narrative in this video of, “I don’t have to service it and I don’t have to maintain it” when the words in 110.17 are, “maintenance shall be performed” and 110.17 (1) are “maintenance shall be performed”
The NEC does not require equipment to be serviced or maintained, but when it is serviced or maintained, "servicing and electrical preventive maintenance shall be performed by qualified persons."

What about NFPA 70 B requirements that it shall be maintained?
NFPA 70B rules only apply when they have been adopted by some government agency. I'm not aware of any such adoption.

"maintenance shall be performed' ... Does "shall" mean "mandatory"?
According to Section 90.5(A), 'shall' means - mandatory.
