I found out that with my antenna system that I can just start at the manual starting point. Hit it with 100 watts in short bursts to final tune for max power and back off with about 75 watts of drive for SSB operation. Takes about 5 seconds of total transmit time. Really the manual tells you how to tune it pretty accurately. They just word a few things a bit funny. You actually do want to tune it with 100 watts of drive or dang close to it to make sure you have headroom. I use CW tone but I make sure that I am in the clear and I don't key up for more than a couple seconds. The hardest thing on these tubes is actually running them not hard enough or too light of loading. It is a broadcast tube after all! 73
