    I love the seascape (I'm addicted to the sea). And I find your process so interesting. The underpaintings are constructed, geometrical patterns and then you add the landscape on top. So you barely see anything of the patterns in the finished painting.
    Why do you use this kind of underpainting?

      Yes, I do that because I am interested in Sacred Geometry and the hidden patterns within nature. So the patterns sit underneath, only visible if you look closely and then you ask- why are those patterns on this painting Just like why are these patterns found in nature! This pattern is the Triquetra, which is found on the stonework of the nearby Clocktower in Tynemouth. When you repeat the pattern it gives you wave forms!😍

      @@helenalicejohnsonartist Mayby those patterns in nature always inspired people to create patterns to decorate their "things". And perhaps to build a connection with nature.
      Maybe looking for patterns in nature is a way to look for rules about how nature works.
