    Austin is the dream pilot for an Agricultural Aviation Owner/ Operator with that much tail dragger time and that young. He could easily be integrated into a mentoring program. Turbine powered Air Tractors or Thrushes could easily be in his future if he so desires.

    Austin is amazingly accomplished - what a story. I've seen and enjoyed the video of Christy flying with him in the Stearman.
    Thanks for the interview guys.

    WOW! 1,000 hours at 17? That's beyond awesome. I love his dedication & passion for aviation. I also don't see what the fuss is about the term "baller". When I hear baller, I think of a ball in a sport, or someone who is on top of their game, such as Austin here! Thanks for interviewing him, he's a very accomplished pilot already!

    I was able to sit and watch Austin flying all of those people around the pattern. I didn't ask for a ride myself because I have been in an open cockpit plane a few times and I wanted to give others a chance to have the experience. Maybe at the next ACCA event I will give Austin a chance to have me as a passenger in the Stearman. ACCA was such a fun event and such a nice location at Stearman Field. The aviation community has some of the nicest people you will ever meet. And Kudos to the staff at the Restaurant as well. They sure did a great job of taking care of everybody there.

    Can’t believe someone was butt hurt over the term Baller pilot. Especially someone in aviation.
    I got to talk to him for a few minutes that day. Great young man that’s going to do a lot of great things and Aviation in the future.

    I'm 61 and sad to say I'm hopelessly un-hip! I had absolutely no idea what the term " baller " was. Then again I don't think my parents had any idea what " groovy or hip " meant back in the day. This young man , although apparently somewhat privileged is an inspiration none the less! Even after learning the definition , " baller " still sounds a little ...well.. 'off '. Thanks again for the content! Blue Skies!!

    Love it I wish I got my license at 18 years old when private pilot was $1300 I have had my student pilot license sence 1977 then reapplied for it in 1983 but now ground because of the new card I have to fly with instructor and can't solo until I had new card I have been flying sence 1977 I learned to fly in Alaska started out in a Cessna 150 then our flying club we had at Fort WainWright Alaska got two T41s that the Airforce academy in Colorado decommissioned and their was a list to rent those birds everyone wanted to fly them I soloed in 6 1/2 hours because I knew the characteristics of flying I had been a CH47 Chinook helicopter mechanic eight months then started flying as a crewchief because of my attention to detail as my maintenance platoon sergeant put it i and another friend were the first private E2 to start flying as crewchief during peace time so I had a lot to prove plus had the best teachers as my unit had only been back from Vietnam little over a year and most of our company people were in the unit in Vietnam I soloed in the Cessna 150 then flew the T41 I have 27 hours legally but few hundred hours in Stenson 108-3, Piper Cub and taylorcraft all in Alaska I was stationed in Alaska December 1976 and went to Fort Carson June 1979 where I was a aircraft mechanic until October 1982 I went back to Fort WainWright where I was instantly put back in flight platoon as in the 1970s stationed up there I was on the hart ( high altitude rescue team) we could fly up on Mt Mckinley now Mt Denali and rescue people it was great experience but April 1977 we had a crash landing at the base from hydraulic failer and I was sitting right rear crewchief seat it did not collapse as designed I took full impact in my back then in August 1983 the pilots were in a autorotation that was not recoverable, week and half later I was in having a 5 hour surgery on my lower back and never really recovered went into deep depression and affected my career and merriage so was discharged from the Army March 11 1985. I did injoy the 9 years I served and if I had the chance to do it over I would except without the crashes.
    So to all of you don't give up your dream to fly do what ever it takes wether a second job or apply for grants through the EAA have to be a member I look back now I could have done it but I didn't I gave up now I am 62 and building two aircraft one my design and other Wag aero trainer. God bless you all and this channel 🙏.

    I had the opportunity when I was young, my Pop was an instructor and he had airplanes to fly as well, did ground school and had some flight time but I was too busy being a dumb kid and never got my PPL. kicking myself now:(

    I really think "baller" no longer fits our vernacular. Everything these days has a sexual connotation. Why not be an ACE pilot?

    • @bodenmaddoxmain
      @bodenmaddoxmain 4 роки тому +2

      "Ace" already has a very specific meaning in aviation. I mean if a pilot has five enemy kills flying in combat then, sure, call 'em an Ace. :-) Otherwise, you probably shouldn't.
