Well, it was a good 35 years, I'm just proud and glad to have experienced it from day 1 And I still have at least 50 books from the EU as well as the games of the time to scratch that Star Wars itch that pops up from time to time
I know the feeling... although I wasn't *quite* there from day 1 - February 1978 was when I discovered Star Wars, and I always have a wide selection of EU novels at hand to scratch that SW itch.👌
Rogue one and clone wars look like masterpieces compared to most of Disney's stuff and all the recent works are doing are only reinforcing reasons why fans don't like them.
I wish I could say the same... unfortunately, I watched the whole damn Bogus Trilogy. 😳 I've only been to the cinema once since then - to watch the re-release of The Phantom Menace.
Yeah, it truly was a dark day when Disney acquired the IP for Star Wars. From the get-go, when The Farce Awakened, Disney proved their inability to create decent Star Wars content; there was no carefully crafted passing of the torch to the next generation as witnessed in the EU novel: "Crucible". Sadly, the shape of things to come. And as for Trash-the-Canon Dave Filoni - there was dialogue in the radio adaptation of Star Wars, where Ben Kenobi spoke of Darth Vader to young Luke - it could almost have been George Lucas speaking of Filoni: "It's not a story to be told simply, or briefly. Suffice it to say that there was a young Jedi who was a pupil of mine, perhaps my most brilliant one, until he was seduced by the dark side of the Force and turned to evil....".
You’re being overly dramatic. Dave Filoni is not evil and he’s still on great terms with George lucas. In fact George is the only reason he has his job. Same with Kathy and Bob Iger. George lucas is the largest individual shareholder at Disney. He has a lot of influence. And while he disagrees on some stuff he doesn’t hate it all. For example he loved rogue one, the last jedi, and the kenobi show. Personally I think Dave Filoni like George are good ideas guys but are terrible writers. They need a good creative team around them. If they have too much creative freedom it can lead to disaster. But anyway you need to get out of your echo chamber a bit. At the end of the day it’s fantasy stories for children. It’s not something to get so angry and hateful about
The only Star Wars I still even bother with now is the old Expanded Universe comic books and video games. Everything that has come out directly under the mouse is all fan-fiction nonsense. Much like what Amazon's Rangs of Power is to Tolkien's Middle-earth.
Man I’m so glad you started off the video with George Lucas selling his company and showed a picture of him signing the deal. People never give him any smoke for selling Star Wars in the first place. Disney deserves all the smoke they get for ruining it, but George Lucas is the one who sold it in the first place.
Boycotted since Disney started taking Star Wars down a path I could not follow. It was very dangerous putting Star Wars and Disney together. I don't think the company can handle it. I don't trust them.
Yes it did. "He thought your father should've stayed HERE and not gotten involved (Owen was Anakin's brother and they lived on Tatooine together) There you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me (Clearly not as a kid, he served Qui-Gon's roll) Leia remembering Padmé actually isnt a problem, cause Ben says they where seperated at birth in ROTJ on dagobah BUT he said in Empire that boy is our last hope, which makes it seem he didnt know Leia existed
I used to be a star wars fan but years of Disney has proven I'm wasting my time and money hoping for good quality star wars content. Andor season 2 will be a last hurrah for me and that'll be the end of it. Honestly tho what really killed star wars for me is the community. It used to be about sharing the love of star wars now its why i hate Disney or why i love Disney. Endless sniping on both sides. Screw that ima go play Warhammer.
Your lament is tellingly short on actual critiques of Disney-era Star Wars. I'm reminded of an analysis of why rock bands lose fans over time: The bands don't get less good, the fans get less interested. Perhaps what this video represents isn't a decline in the quality of Star Wars, but a waning of your personal interest in it.
Can guys stop being so hyperbolic and silly. Star Wars has always been a mixed bag. Like you had the masterpiece which is a new hope followed up immediately with the Star Wars holiday special. OT followed up with caravan of garbages and the PT. Then the pt followed up with an awful TCW movie then we got a fantastic TCW show. With great and terrible EU stuff in between. Just like with Disney. It’s not ALL bad or ALL good and Star Wars isn’t dead. Andor is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Fallen order is one of the best games I’ve played. Rogue one is one of the best movies I’ve seen. The Vader comics are some of the best comics I’ve ever read. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was like 4 years old. I love Star Wars. I saw TPM in cinema. But I acknowledge reality. It’s never been a perfect franchise. And I’m sick of this toxic echo chamber that has been built up around much of the online fandom. People need to go touch grass. It’s honestly boring how guys on here just constantly repeat the same crap over and over. It’s a grift. It’s silly. It’s tiring. It’s boring. If you hate it so much now just stop watching and move on with your life simple as. Don’t make hate your whole personality. You’re going against George’s whole philosophy. Stop making dumb revisionist content that is antithetical to reality it’s just sad. My stance is that I take things as they come and try to be fair and unbiased.
No one is denying that Star Wars never had it's fair share of ups or downs throughout the years. But even then, regardless, Star Wars still remained a massive and huge brand with still a very much dedicated fanbase. And even with the reception the Prequels got, still managed to succeed in getting new fans into the series. That simply no longer exists anymore since Disney took control. The decline is noticeable all around. From declining merchandise sales, failing ratings, and just a general apathy for the franchise all around. It's no different than what we've seen with other franchises alongside the likes of Star Trek or Doctor Who.
Anything outside the original 6 are irrelevant
I couldn’t agree more. Thanks for putting this video together.
@@coolcats4summer82 you're welcome

I enjoyed the force unleashed 1, fun game.
Star Wars the force awakens cured me of ever going to the cinema, 2015 was the last time went.

Sick reference, brah. It doesn't seem like you tried way too to fit that in, at all. It must be so hard being you as a fan.

Wow, you're such a purist and you're so much better than people who don't love exactly what you do.
@@JdoubleU666 People can love whatever they want, just in as much the same way I can.
Plus Darth Jar Jar was brought back from the Lego Expanded Star Wars Universe.

For me it is 1977-1983, but at least the prequel didn't break the lore.
Yes it did.

It was fun while it lasted but now it's dead.
Dear Jesus, what have I done!
That was the old expanded universe.
BortaS bIr jablu'DI' reH QaQqu' nay' to Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, Dave Filoni, Rian Johnson & Leslye Headland!
Disney killed Star Wars! I've known that since the beginning. But Disney has killed most everything they've touched since they went woke.
Yeah man all those trans stormtroopers really fried my chicken

1977-2008**
Star Wars has “died” so many times. Ok, so is it dead for sure now?
Tell me it's not true!

Ok Mickey is that you sniffing your own mouse dropping again.
