We had this year before last, everyone was whining Arteta out. You have to invest time in a manager but we could see positive signs, 1. clearing out of the wasters, Ozil, Auba etc 2. good recruiting (Tottenham's NET spend for the last 5 years is only £9M less than Arsenal, 4th highest in the league). Sorry, but stats can only show so much. Arsenal had clearly the best chances to score in the match. Tottenham's shots at goal for the most part didn't trouble Raya. Everything else was either dealt with by the defense, or Tottenham players refused to or weren't able to take a shot. To be fair, people said that Spurs’ high line would be a problem. But it wasn’t a problem against Arsenal. The counter attacks from Arsenal were actually quite well managed by Spurs.
If Arsenal were as good, and Spurs were as bad as people said, then Arsenal should have been scoring at least one open goal.
Arsenal parked the bus for the majority of the game. So Ange played more attacking/creative players to break down that low block, which is the right thing to do.
I think it’s their players’ lack of quality that has let them down. Not the manager.
Both teams created low quality chances, it’s not about finishing. It was Spurs 0.81 vs 0.85 Arsenal on xG, Spurs 15 vs 7 Arsenal on shots.
So each chance on average has a 5.4% chance going in for Spurs, And 12% chance going in for Arsenal.
Humble yourself a little and accept defeat. You can't blame Arsenal for using tactics to beat Spurs, that's literally the game. Spurs couldn't overcome the tactics. Maybe next time, eh. Big up Henry for being an honourable Spurs fan 👊
