Hi Homemakers, I hope you got some good out of this mini prepper pantry grocery haul. When you are done here, check out my How to Build a Three Month Food Supply with this link: ua-cam.com/play/PLLY9dO87sGSwZ8ckIPC0l8qgRQlN9Z6kW.html.
I like your sensible approach to prepping and providing for our families. The gradual approach makes the process doable and not overwhelming. You have a nice channel.
Thank you so much. This is the only way I can do it. It just makes sense to approach it this way. I don't want to alarm my homemakers but do want to prod them into action. What are you picking up this month for our extended pantry?
@@homemakingwithdenise I do a lot of canning from our garden. Last year I started canning meat so I'll me picking up chicken and ground beef to can. I also will buy spices and seasonings to add to my regular/prepper/extended pantry.
New here. First impression is. What a classy lady. Love your hair, earrings and the way you carry your self. Very elegant lady. Thank you for your example. Now on to the video.
I really believe you do a service to many with this wise video. 20 years ago, my husband was laid off. We resolved to buy a freezer that we could keep filling as items went on sale. I also began to make sure I had a well stocked pantry, adding shelves in our laundry room for extra food. Relatives who need help with food now and then know they can come to us and "shop" the freezer and pantry. It has been a blessing to us and others during difficult times.
one of my neighbors saved her spagetti sauce jars for me and another friend also saves jars for me. I don't get too many, but its always appreciated since, I took up gardening during the pandemic. I created an editable and medicinal so I am in need of smaller jars for my flowers/roots etc. Living in the city has proven to be a challenge for planting, but I have learned so much and really enjoy it! It is the place I feel so safe and happy in!!!
I like your approach. You are not promoting fear. We all need to stay calm in these trying times. In my daily planner, I have a hand written note "Prepare to live. Not live to prepare." This reminds me that it is ok to keep prepping, but don't let prepping consume my life.
Hello Ms. Denise! My prepper pantry and emergency preparations saved us during the aftermath of hurricane Ida. I am now restocking. I appreciate your channel and information.
I love shopping at the dollar tree They have shelf stable milk, 2lb bags of rice. Medical supplies, candles, so much stuff. Once a week I spend about 40.00. Great place to shop for prepping.
You are so right about keeping a stocked pantry especially with inflation and shortages happening. It's always good to have extra on hand. Love the apron!
Hi Mama Bear, yes. A well stocked pantry can make one feel comfortable when times get. hard. Being able to eat and not worry about where the meal is coming from is huge. How is your extended pantry coming along?
@@homemakingwithdenise yes ma'am I am.. I do payday preps every two weeks and we always do a big Fall and Winter stock up in October.. We have always done the winter prep but definitely have kept it going year around since March 2020..
Yes! Even at Walmart, we are used to spending 88 cents for a jar of their pasta sauce. That has been the price. I'm not kidding that now it is $1.29 a jar. That's a big increase!
I have been adding an extra item to each week's grocery cart. Store brand rice has been out if stock for past 2 weeks. I just looked at my wish list and picked another item. Last week, I added a bag of egg noodles and this week I picked up a Bearcreek cheesy potato soup mix (on sale). I find it convenient to have a wish list. Knowing that I will eventually get the items, keeps me from panicking and buying more than I can afford.
Thank you for showing "Poverty Prepping" (:- How to Stock up for Tomorrow when You can't afford to eat Today) it is a fabulous book. I see many comments saying they can't afford to prep, they have a hard time buying food for today. We want everyone to be fed, safe and well. One of the tips is you go to the store with your list and one or two of the items is on sale, put the money aside from the sale price from the regular price. Say it is $1.50 in savings, next time you go any of your listed items on sale save the difference from the regular price that you expected to pay anyway. Then you may go and see something on sale that was not on your list, you have the money to purchase that item at the sale price. The change adds up and pretty soon you have breathing room, items put up, if you continue you may not have to worry when you go to the store...priceless. 70 pages, large print, I bought mine for $15 and about $6 for shiping handling and tax. Ms Gregersen lives in Appalachia. I used many of these methods to get out of student debt. I bought this book because I work with low income and just wanted to see what she had to say. I can't say enough good about this book...do not let budget/personal finance scare you. She gives you small items to start with and is encouraging along the way. The only thing hard about managing money is not knowing how simple it is. It is a game changer once you "have it in the wrist". It looks like times may get tough...we want everyone to thrive.
This is such a great video. Thank you for sharing, coaching and teaching us. I really appreciate your kindness and attitude of encouraging us to be wise and plan and prepare, based on our budgets. And thank you for the examples from your haul, too. I have slacked-off on my preparedness and needed this reminder.
Yeah, I stopped preparing and stocking up. My husband and I are aging and hubby nearly died. Now I don't know how to get back on track with my food sensitivities. Now the ready-to-eat things or simpler foods to fix are not so simple any more. I am beginning to worry.
My favorite trick in managing my pantry is to use a sharpie marker to write the best buy date in large size numbers on the front and top of items so I can easily rotate items and follow the first in, first out rule. Getting to that age when I have to go find my reading glasses to read those tiny dates!!
I treat my pantry like a "store". I meal plan and shop from my pantry for meal planning. I do a regular inventory and stock up when I'm short and see items on sale in the grocery ads. Same with cleaning supplies and toiletries.
Thanks for this video. I bought a few necessities this am to stock up. (Items that I use anyway.) I bought a small chest freezer late last year and keep it full. I saw a small chest freezer (5 cubic feet) on sale at target for $130 a few weeks ago. Paid $200 for mine at Lowe’s. Highly recommend a separate freezer if you have room for it.
I appreciate this soo much! I am gradually building up my pantry. Not many family members and friends will listen when I tell them to prep. Thank you for being soo calm about this. I do not need any fear or hysteria in my life. 😊
I agree 100%! I have always been someone who stocked up. I raised 4 children as a single Mom and then I had a family child care...and fed 8 Little Learners. I always had a full pantry.
You are so right, I have been keeping a full pantry for years because we had a large family. Yes those jars come in handy for when empty. Thank you for reminding us to keep prepping our pantry. Blessings
Mable, I really did not want to make this video but it was a must. So many people have put this aside and they really shouldn't. I've not always kept a full pantry but I try to do so now. Thank you so much for stopping by. Did any particular item, besides the spaghetti sauce stand out to you?
@@homemakingwithdenise yes the spaghetti is in short supply, tuna is scarce and chicken broth must be a dirty word cause it is not on the shelf. Praying that you find what you need for your pantry. Continuous blessings
Just came upon your channel. I noticed the apron before clicking the video. I was admiring it before your commercial came on, it's lovely. Wonderful lady you are. God bless
In our house we have been trying different brands of pasta sauces and we found we actually prefer our store brand over what used to be our favorite. I always added stuff to our sauce. I found out my dehydrated mushrooms are sooo amazing in sauce. My husband thought I used fresh mushrooms.
Hi Brandie, I have not tried my dehydrated mushrooms in spaghetti sauce. I used them in a turkey linguini but I like the idea. I will definitely give this a try. What house brand of sauce does your family prefer?
Excellent timing for this video, Denise, as shortages become more and more apparent each day. I live alone but I have a good supply of canned goods and beans and rice. I shutter when I visit my son (70 miles away) and find virtually NOTHING in his refrigerator or cupboards. WTH?
Ty for sharing 👍 In the last 18 months I’ve started using the dried garbanzo beans because I couldn’t find them canned. They are great my family likes the home cooked ones now 🥘.
I rarely if ever use paper napkins anymore. I use not too special or fancy cloth ones and just throw them in the wash with my other laundry. I feel better about not adding to the landfill. If it's just "us" at the table, spots or stains don't matter at all. The process of even making those paper products is not earth friendly. I encourage others to try it. Save your money and save the planet 😁 Your other preparedness examples are good too, but I just wanted to throw in an idea for another type of economy that can be made.
Just found your videos - so very helpful. I’m new to prepping & I truly appreciate your no nonsense input & knowledge regarding prepping. Thank you so much. 💞🙏🏼💞
Just found your channel...love it! I’ll be binge watching this weekend. Such sensible tips, without all the fear mongering that comes along with many channels that provide similar content
The last time I went grocery shopping couldn't find any chicken livers at two different grocery stores. Dollar Tree and Dollar General are good for some foods. Aldi is great for low prices as well.
What a great video. I also save the empty sauce jars to store dry goods in as well. Either the Bertolli or Classico jars also have the ounces as part of the glass jar which is helpful. Stay healthy and blessed and keep making videos please.
Hahaha! Lisa, you got it with the dress. I've got it linked in the description box but...the whole idea of the apron is to protect the dress so yeah, you can't see the dress much because the apron is doing it's job. Hahaha!
Great info! I try to add on each Walmart trip. I have seen that certain things we on us usual basis are not there. So I just buy when the stock allows. TFS
I haven’t stopped stocking… still canning, still buying extra when I shop. We finally were able to buy a 20 cubic ft upright freezer to replace 1 of 2 older models we had. We like to eat grass fed , organic so we buy several pounds at a time directly from local farms for our beef, pork and chicken. It is knowing I have food in the house not only for hard times, but also so I don’t have to run to the store especially in the winter.
FYI, there is an issue with the supply of Co2 which is needed to bottle certain types of beer. If you see them, stock up. I reside in England and it has been all over the news the last several days. Food in my area has been limited and prices on everything has definitely gone up
Happy Sunday sis thank you so much for this great video I get lots of things from the food pantry and all I do is just stock up on everything they give me sometime I have too much but I store it in a box and I watch the dates Thanks for Sharing
Thanks for all the good tips. Here in Canada we get a brand of spaghetti sauce that actually comes in canning jars that I have reused for my canning over and over again. ❤️🇨🇦
The Classico sauce jars can be reused for water bath canning as the regular mouth bands and lids fit them perfectly. I don't pressure can with them, though, because I don't know if they are strong enough to withstand it.
Hello Denise! Loving your apron! Yes we should prepare for the worst in all areas of our lives. It would be stressful enough if something terrible would happen and to not worry about the pantries for your families would be one less thing to worry about.
Exactly. There is enough to worry about without having to worry about food. And thank you for the apron. I am loving it too. I just love the vintage look.
I'm going to start getting a little extra at a time I have rice and beans and going to start to build up stocks and can veggies. thank you for video practical advice

Just found your channel! Really enjoyed your video, wise advice, calm presentation and lovely apron! Just hot the subscribed button! I will be looking at your other videos this evening! 🥰
I hear you on the pasta sauce, but let me tell you I bought the target brand meat sauce for $.99. And it is now my number one staple. It doesn’t really have meat just may be beef broth. But I use it in a quick chili I use it plain I use it with meat sauce it is absolutely divine. Anyone I’ve ever tried the target brand pasta sauceIt’s so good! Give it a try it’s only $.99
I really love your aproch to prepping. I really don't like the doom and gloom channels. I feel like prepping should be a common since calm minded thing. One channel I really enjoy is steponesurvival with BA and Sippy.
Thank you , Rachel. I will check them out. I like common sense. The doom and gloom makes me nervous and I don't want to perpetuate that. How is your extended pantry coming along?
@@homemakingwithdenise Thank you for asking, it's coming along well. I'm a long time prepper if I'm being honest going on about 10 years now. Being a AD ( active duty ) military family makes it hard at times. We can't move with everything all the time. The movers will take most dry goods but not all canned goods or anything with liquid. So I was trying to use up alot of my wet preps to only found out my husband got extended here in Hawaii another 2 years 😅 lol the way life works. So I'm trying to build back up on my shelf stable milk, juice and canned goods. It was honestly nice to make more from my prep shelves to see what I could come up with for meals, snacks and desserts.
Hi Denise. I have noticed a big difference in our markets as well. I will begin prepping again this weekend as well. I use dried beans a lot and one of my favorites is the 15 beans. That's a pot that goes a long way as well. I reuse certain size jars as well. That's a good tip. The suggestion of setting aside a certain amount just for prepping is a great idea. Thanks for sharing. See you soon.
I love that Home Comforts book (I have it and didn't realize it talks about preparedness). But I have been stocking up for a while after not doing it for over a year. Thank you for sharing this information!
Denise, I needed to replenish some of my first aid supplies and found bandages, ointment, peroxide, etc. very sparse. So that’s on my permanent list - what I always look for when I go shopping. Do you keep a permanent list? Love your apron!
Beautiful apron!!! Thank you for this. I'm in the middle of a pantry inventory to make sure I'm stocked on the items we use most. I buy my GF baking flour in bulk and the 25# bag just went up by $25 over the weekend. I've seen fluctuations like this in the past couple years, so I'm hoping it'll go down again, but I'm glad I just got a bag. God bless, Ms Jordan!!!
Hi Denise good afternoon how are you? Happy Friendship Day to you dear 🙂 and I liked watching your videos and I enjoyed watching your videos and I love you so much 🙂😀😊😄😁😘❤️💙💛💚💗💜 Please reply Thank you Vamsi
A great haul and very good advice. Some of the bigger preppers do share a lot of negativity I just unsubscribe and move on because I don’t need to hear the end is near because I have to function until it comes.
A few cloth napkins and towels may come in handy, so you won’t need to stock up so much on paper napkins and paper towels. I am planning to get a few myself.
Do you have any suggestions on space for our prepper pantry. We are very limited. With 7 kids, a one week supply, let alone 3 month, would take a ton of space. Need creative ideas.
Joanna, just take a look around your house and make a decision as to where things will go. Choose a closet and move the coats and shoes out, or linen closet, put linen elsewhere, or a corner of the dining room or basement and put up a shelf. Start saving foods there. Then, look under the sofa or beds for space. Canned items can be stored neatly under there. You just have to be creative. Take an active look and truly examine your house and see what you could squeeze out.
Move everything non perishable to garage. Baggies trash bags laundry soap. Make room inside. Closets and under the bed . Look for shelving on sale craigslist or garage sales. Must be sturdy!! Add shelving to laundry rooms and closets if possible. Again. Sturdy! Stay organized. Start a cook book. As you find recipes make sure you have ingredients.
We have items in many places in our home. Buy sturdy milk crates. They can be stacked. I believe a long while ago she did a video of out of the way places to store items. I use jars all the time. No cost. The cost of food and household supplies are going up. Also living in Florida we put extra away for hurricane season. Thank you for getting us motivated.
A tip I learned from "dirt patch haven" on YT: take a look at WHAT you store. If you are tight on space, consider tomato paste as a multi-tasker. I use it as tomato sauce, pasta sauce, enchilada sauce, just add water and spices. Rather than stocking umpteen tomato products, the paste saves so much space. I used to stock crushed, diced, whole, stewed, sauce, rotel, paste, pasta sauce, and enchilada sauce. Now I'm down to paste, stewed, diced, and rotel. 👍🏻 I now have more space. To stock more types of things. I've been doing this for three years. I also limit my pasta to three types -spaghetti, elbows, and rotini. My guest beds are on metal platform frames. The space underneath the beds is "gold". 🙌🏻 Great for storing larger dry goods I seldom use. Little do my guests know they are sleeping on parts of my extended stores. 😉

MeMw, food pantries are the best kept secret. If they give you things you can’t use, there is someone else who can use it. Share with those who can.
@@homemakingwithdenise Thank you, Yes i try To Blessed others when i know i don't have Any more space...l don't like to be Greedy..
I just loved it like i do each, every one you do i,m watched the old ones over-over true fan here thank you for what you do ,share love from Kentucky
I love your apron. ❤️
I'm going to start getting a little extra at a time I have rice and beans and going to start to build up stocks and can veggies. thank you for video practical advice
Love your Apron!
I appreciate your videos so much! I am new to your channel and you have been a wealth of fresh air for me. I am still learning how to prep for my home and will be watching your videos. Blessing! Thank you for sharing.
You are quite welcome. Do check out my prepping playlist. It covers quite a bit of information and build as you can for your budget and your family needs.
@@rachelknight6928 ummmm…does Hawaii count as a hardship post? Hahaha! Enjoy your time there. How’s that little one doing?
Thank you for your service! 🇺🇸
Hey!
I love your approach to prepping. I have the Home Comforts book and love it🙂
I love that Home Comforts book (I have it and didn't realize it talks about preparedness).
Enjoy the video, liked your approach. Very inspiring!
Yes 🙏🙏🙏
you are they in my letters aprons divs more too!!
Great job
I had to slow down on my prepping because my income is more limited now, but I still do a little every payday.
Hi Denise good afternoon how are you? Happy Friendship Day to you dear 🙂 and I liked watching your videos and I enjoyed watching your videos and I love you so much 🙂😀😊😄😁😘❤️💙💛💚💗💜

Thank you

A great haul and very good advice. Some of the bigger preppers do share a lot of negativity I just unsubscribe and move on because I don’t need to hear the end is near because I have to function until it comes.
What’s a 4 corners pantry?
A few cloth napkins and towels may come in handy, so you won’t need to stock up so much on paper napkins and paper towels. I am planning to get a few myself.
what size lids do the spighetti sause use? great for colidal silver
Regular mouth I believe.

@@tiara424777 you're welcome 😊
I now have more space.
