You've certainly gotten great use of that canoe. I've always been a fan of plastic canoes for their indestructiveness. I got a coleman that has served me very well and was only $400 new, although I wish it would have been a Nova Craft. Dragging across concrete is one way for sure to beat trying to portage some of these beasts. Although, I'm going to have to try that picking up technique at end of video for my esquif. Due to a current medical condition I can't pick the damn thing up this year. Hoping to next year be in better shape.
The esquif will be somewhat heavy I know the one I want is about 75lbs not as bad as the one I have but not a light weight. But that t formx is the way to go I think on rivers. Kevlar or carbon is great if all you do is lakes when I hit a portage I wish my boat was only 30 or 40lbs. Getting to old to lift the heavy boats lol. I had a Colman years ago and beat the hell out of it too. It was still in great shape till it got stolen then went 15 years with out a canoe. To pick up the nova craft I grab it by the seat pick it up then rest the seat on my head move my hands to the gunnel rails then hope it a little while moving down. I remember you doing a video where you were left a doctors and said you couldn’t paddle 😢 It’s good to see you have been able to get back out again but the years of abuse start to catch up to us It turns out we are not invincible for ever
The oil caning sucks but I have not been nice to this boat and it has held up. And has been killing rivers for me so far. There are canoes I would like like the tough stuff expedition or an equif but I can’t afford them. For the money I think it’s a solid beater boat that has done me well
@@JayhooOutdoors Perfect then. Ill be using it to gain experience in whitewater as I have next to none. So a good amount of rocks will be hit for sure!😅
@@The-Dutch-Explorer that’s why I got it to just starting into white water. Really don’t want to wrap a $5,500 boat, Hope I never wrap the sp3 either but will be a little less painful
hello buddy, can I ask you what kind of glue did you use to fix the D rings? I've also got an SP3 Nova Craft canoe and apparently not all the glues works in SP3 material. Thanks
I will have to check when I get home but I believe it is a two part flex seal . I also heated the plastic before so it was tacky. Will see how long it holds. I got a year when I did it with out heating it first.
Just bought a 16' nova craft prosepecter for $999 new in Canada today. Super stoked.
Sweet great canoe 🛶 for everything fishing camping running rivers.
I definitely love mine .
Hope you have a great summer of fun on the water
@@JayhooOutdoors thank you. Hope you have a great summer as well!

Thanks dude. This helped me make the call on buying a practically brand new 16 foot sp3 prospector for 1000 Canadian! Definitely getting it now!👌

great video. is it good for solo as well?
I’ve done a lot of solos in it I found it worked great.
It’s a big boat at 17’ but handles quite well
