    For those of you traumatized by this video, Fear Not! My 99 yr old grandmother was very much a woman of color & the only reason she's not here presently is due to covid. Her best friend passed 2 yrs ago at 97 and her neighbor passed this yr. at 108. All were women of color. All had multiple children. All were strong women of faith in the God who created the heaven & the earth. Psalm 90:10 tells us 70 is the average lifespan. Beyond 70 is a bonus, and it is not without challenges, so naturally you begin experiencing menopause around 40ish/50ish so that your chances of getting pregnant is diminished, which lessens the chances of you dying when your children are not mature enough to care for themselves. Menopause is not something to be feared. Live your best life. Take good care of your mind, soul & body. It's essential. If my grandmother and her friends lived their best life through menopause, so can you!

    From a good friend: "Hey Steve...would love your opinion on *hormone replacement therapy for menopause* ! ~4 years ago (age 47) after not having much of a period for several a years, I started having ridiculously heavy periods at random times which led me to go to an ob/gyn who prescribed an IUD (Minerva). Bleeding stopped. After a year of being on IUD, started taking estradiol r/t ridiculous hot flashes which woke me up every night and left me sweating non-stop. The combo worked great. This year, I went to a new primary NP who wasn’t thrilled about estradiol and I have since stopped taking all hormones to see what would happen. No bleeding. Daily hot flashes though not as severe but annoying to say the least. Would love to learn more but don’t want to search the web swimming through the ocean of info...can you suggest your best you tube clips/info? Just saw your you tube channel tonight!"

If you still don’t experience relief after a month, talk to your doc and ask for a higher dose. Anxiety and insomnia are likely to be progesterone-related. • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for watching. You CAN "just use Prometrium® for menopause and post menopause." But after menopause, your body is 100% guaranteed to be missing estradiol. The loss of estradiol at menopause, as I say in this video and several others, is the root problem underneath hot flashes, weight gain, mood swings, and many other symptoms. As I also point out in this and other videos, when your estradiol level is optimized, you're protected from several long-term health risks like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, osteoporosis, and colon cancer. So just using progesterone takes care of some of the symptoms and some of the risks . . . but that approach is definitely not optimal.

    am having intense hot flashes(46 yrs 10months) so thinking of adding HRT. I also have insomnia, about 50 odd flashes in 24 hours , extreme fatigue and lethargy. I was prescribed ovral G for my PCOS which caused high cholesterol levels and CAD, heart disease runs in my family. The gnaec refused to give HRT. Should I suffer or consider taking HRT?

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  8 місяців тому +1

      @renus6015 I'm so sad to hear it's been rough with hot flashes, fatigue, and insomnia. That's a story I've heard from many other women. It's also common for gynecologists to refuse to prescribe HRT.
      I might suggest you take a look at my course, The Menopause Solution. It's designed specifically for women just like you - experiencing severe menopause symptoms but hesitant to start taking HRT. The course provides answers to a lot of the questions women ask about hormones and what they can expect.
      The goal of this course is to help you make your HRT decision . . . in about 2 hours. That's how long it takes to go through the videos.

    I have got more relief from anxiety and insomnia even night sweats with progesterone. I’m taking a low dose birth control pill and my doctor added 1mg estradiol to that, but the night sweats were so strong, I had to get up and change my wet pijamas. Then I started experiencing anxiety which I had never had until this point. Horrible feeling of tightness in my chest, and like I was on the edge of a cliff all the time, hard to enjoy life when you feel like that ! My doctor gave me 200 mg progesterone I immediately felt some relief but not enough, then increased the dose to 400 mg., and that did it ! I’m 50 now, maybe later I will need more estradiol, but for now it seems that progesterone is the one that I cannot live without. Is that common in your experience ?

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  Рік тому +2

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching Gladys. The differences in menopause symptoms just boil down to genetics. Some women are genetically more likely to experience worse symptoms and some experience them for a longer time.The differences are on average. So a particular woman, no matter what ethnic background, may not experience menopause like other women. But overall, when we look at thousands of women, we see some trends emerge.

    • @ellederberryblue8377
      @ellederberryblue8377 Рік тому

      You would be right to question the differences because they are tremendously important. The other body which cannot convert energy from the sun into fuel struggles to operate optimally.

    • @SimpleHormones

      It’s possible that your stress at home causes higher cortisol levels. That’s referred to as “the stress hormone.” There’s some evidence that cortisol is associated with or may increase facial flushing and night sweats - maybe not the same intensity as menopause hot flashes.

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  2 роки тому +1

      Breast tenderness is usually a side effect of estradiol. It’s most commonly dose-related. Reducing the dose will almost always reduce the tenderness. It’s often a delicate balance between a dose that’s high enough to help with hot flashes, but low enough not to cause breast tenderness. Sometimes, raising the dose of progesterone could also help.

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  8 місяців тому

      @user-mp9kh5rr8z So sorry it's been a hard go with symptoms. As I mention in the video (and in most of my videos), the most effective and safest treatment for hot flashes and all menopause symptoms is optimizing your hormones. A hysterectomy, as you've discovered, doesn't solve everything. You'll especially need to advocate for progesterone optimization, which many doctors will refuse to give you after a hysterectomy. Progesterone is the most important hormone for sleep, anxiety, and depression. These symptoms are almost completely ignored by many mainstream providers, who might just give you an antidepressant and send you on your way.

My question is, how is the dosage determined if there is no hormone level data to go by? Kind of a try it and see how one feels and go from there? Thank you for your informative videos!

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  2 роки тому +1

      Lola - Thanks for watching. Several responses to your comment. 1. A week may not be long enough to see much change when it comes to hormones 2. 100MG of progesterone is a pretty low, starting dose. If you don’t see improvement in a few weeks or a month, request a dose increase 3. Estradiol is a great idea, especially for hot flashes, mood swings, and weight gain, but more importantly to help with long-term health 4. A lot of doctors don’t believe in hormone testing. I don’t believe that’s the best approach because you can’t tell if levels are optimal. You may just need to try it out and see how it feels.

      That's a good question. Theoretically, taking estradiol as a part of HRT either transdermally or orally should increase vaginal elasticity and lubrication. Practically, it doesn't usually work that way. Women often have to also use a vaginal estradiol or DHEA cream or suppository when vaginal dryness is an issue.

      I have tried this on 3 people and it took 6-8 weeks to work.

      5g organic ashwagandha root powder.
      5g organic RED maca root powder.
      5g organic acerola cherry powder(vitamin c)
      Mix all together in a large glass of FILTERED water (non chlorinated, as it will decrease the effectiveness of the MSM) until everything is dissolved.

    It's the air quotes that did it for me. Not good for the already irritated woman. 😂

    I’ve never had a hot flash into menopause 4 years. Nothing happened until Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause. The whole thing. Atrophic vaginitis, reoccurring UTIs, having to pee all the time, sometimes not fast enough.

      It's very common that women in menopause don't have the "typical" symptoms like hot flashes. Most women will experience something, though. And it's all because of the loss of estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone.

    Haha, thank u for the kindergarten level lecture 😂. Gee when mama nature created us, She meant women to suffer and die prematurely for hundreds thousands years until the brave heroes: western med doctors came up with lab made hormones ? 🤔
    - I don’t think so…Our bodies are meant to bounce back. Adrenals are meant to take over hormone production in sufficient quantities.
    But our ‘modern’ lifestyle ( thank to other ‘heroes’) makes us depleted. 😰

      @MrDandelio You're certainly welcome to your opinion. The fact is, whether the adrenal glands are meant to take over or not . . . they don't.

      I think a huge factor is that our life spans have increased dramatically over the last 100 yrs or so. I guess women were just expected to drop dead just before/during menopause kicking in....😞
