Not long ago this would have been big news. Today, a mountain lion roaming downtown Oceanside is mundane as compared to how humans have been behaving lately. I just hope it gets back okay and has stories to tell it's friends about all the neon signs and crazy people.
I am in Escondido, a few years ago I looked out of my driveway and saw one appear up the road about a hundred yards away. It jogged down the street, across a lawn and jumped up on the roof of a single-story house like it was nothing, went up over the top and disappeared. It was quite a lot bigger than the one seen here, maybe half again bigger. I couldn't believe my eyes, I felt like I had seen a space alien. We have coyotes down here occasionally, a neighbor had their cat taken by one recently. But I can't imagine if I had been up the street and seen that thing jogging towards me, I would have crapped my pants.
Maybe you should go down there and explain that to the cat, then he could move on like he is supposed to. He probably just didn't get the notification of his boundries the county commission sent out. @@robburton3255
No seriously, @HappinessIsAJourney has a point. Unless that thing trotted all the way down from Bonsall and somehow ended up in downtown Oceanside, we have to leave ourselves open to the possibility that some idiot found a baby mountain lion cub, brought it home, raised it for about a year, then realized they were in over their head and released it. Think that's not possible? Wrong. I volunteered at Lions, Tigers and Bears for a few years. A good portion of those animals had that same story. Dude adopts a tiger cub, a bobcat or something else. Months/years later it's a big mistake and they don't know how to deal with it so they open the door. Now the thing is habituated and the only life it knows is around humans. The way thing thing gravitates to occupied areas tells me it's not planning on going back to the mountains. It doesn't even know where the mountains are.
We have plenty of "wild" hills and canyons in Oceanside. Also, this one most likely came from the San Luis Rey River area that's pretty wooded and connects to the hills of Camp Pendleton, Bonsall, Fallbrook and all the way to Palomar Mountain.
You don't really want to leave it alone. A mountain lion roaming around city streets is not good for both people and the mountain lion itself. If it can't find its way back to the forest on it is own, the best option is to tranquilize it and move it to the forest. Its just begging for trouble to let it roam around city streets.
@@CranberryFo Hi, there, if that cat sees a "kid" run from it, then it might chase the kid and try to eat him or her. People should all agree people and wild animals need to be segregated from each other.
And this Just in, the crime rate is down 5% since the reported snaggle pus has taken up night patrols in the Oceanside area. :)
This cat probably feeds off the homeless living in the river beds🤷🏽♂️👀

Don’t hurt it. Just relocate the poor cat. Poor, poor animals we take their land their homes and they are hungry. Don’t be evil, relocate it.
This hasn’t been its land for many years. I don’t want to see it harmed but it does not belong here…for its own good. Quit living in the past people.

So, all Whales live in Wales?
You are in his territory.
who would've thought there be mountain lions in a state of mountains???
Cute kitty
Is this the sign?
These cats are harmless. Just got to run up to it and give it a bear hug.
Animals take hugs as a prelude to an attack. Hug a wild animal, and you get the claws.

How about I tranquilize you and move you when you taking a stroll
How can we leave it alone if it's roaming around a city aimlessly silly
