  • This is a 2-hour bullet chess tournament I provided commentary on without competing in it. The event was held specifically for titled chess players only, namely Grandmasters, International Masters, FIDE Masters, National Masters etc... This was the 2nd "Titled Prize Arena" held by lichess.org. The $1,500 prize pool goes to the top 5 players, with 1st - $1,000, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $125, 4th - $75, and 5th - $50. This tournament was played on January 18th, 2018, and featured many elite players such as Fabiano Caruana (Bombegranate), and the current World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen (DrDrunkenstein).
    I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. Consider subscribing here on UA-cam for frequent content, and/or connecting via any or all of the below social medias. Your support is greatly appreciated. Take care, bye. :D

    • @enginekid88

    • @igomesigomes
      @igomesigomes 6 років тому +8

      I agree with you about the depth, but I guess enginekid88 means about being entertaining (which actually is something very important for a 2 hours stream).

    • @marfeddewrwz
      @marfeddewrwz 6 років тому +13

      Also who cares about depth, this is bullet. No time for depth. The moment you finish the explanation they are already playing another game.
      Also he is officially NM, but he is more than that. He is better than 99% of the viewers, so it's still instructive, even if it's not perfect.

  • @Danielmoen88
    @Danielmoen88 6 років тому +3

    8:51 - "4.2 is plenty of time" - Carlsen analyzes the situation and calculates he needs about 1 second to pull off the forced mate. That leaves 3.2 seconds to take a sip of water.
    Meanwhile Jerry (and us!) freaking out "2 seconds! 1 second! Why was there such a delay???"

  • @BlackPawnMartyr

      It's a glitch that has occurred on lichess. I've seen it happen a few times while watching somebody's game on my account. They have probably patched up quite a bit since then, because I have yet to see it on the new layout. The notation was also messed up on a few games as well. It has black's moves on the left, and white's moves on the right.

      Perhaps the game when the game ended it's showing a glitched analysis board? Says white is in check, but no black pieces are pointed at it.

      nut master he could’ve been paired up in the first titled arena, but he didn’t.
      I would say if anyone could defeat Carlsen in bullet, it would be Jerry.

    As far as I can see, you make two points for the first win, two for the second, four points for the third straight win and so on. And I've read that you get three points for a draw in the middle of a chain of victories. But I dont understand how come Penguin starts the tournament with these numbers: 030334032. Can someone explain this?

      0 = loss
      3 = berserk win
      0 = loss
      3 = berserk win
      3 = berserk win (and it starts the streak)
      4 = win (with double points)
      0 = loss (and it stops the streak)
      3 = berserk win
      2 = win Or berserk draw
      The last 2 points could have come either by win or a draw in berserk mode. If it comes by a win, the player will be in a streak and his next game will give double points. So only the next score can tell if it was a win or berserk draw.

    30:10 lo and behold, resignation reveals the stealth queen and white is in check from his own bishop.
    Most of the time chess makes sense.
