Léon Marchand, Championnat du monde 2023 - Et de trois !!! (finale du 200m4N)

Le 27 juillet 2023 à Fukuoka, Léon Marchand remporte un troisième titre de champion du monde en battant le record d'Europe du 200 m 4 nages: 1'54.82 ! Sans réelle opposition : Carson Foster (vice-champion du monde l'an dernier), fidèle à sa stratégie de Fukuoka de tenter de déstabiliser Léon dès le départ, est sans doute parti trop vite (20 centièmes d'avance sur le record du monde à mi-course). Il est devant au 100m, puis s'effondre, terminant loin de son meilleur temps (5ème de la finale). C'est un triomphe pour Léon Marchand qui devient le nageur français le plus titré aux championnats du monde (5 titres au total et 3ème performance de tous les temps sur 200 m 4 nages derrière Lochte et Phelps).
