What if....NO ONE would have gotten shot because think about it like this: If Jimmy was never shot then Sean would have easily convince Rick to put the gun down and he was almost successful of doing it but the reasons why Rick was gonna shoot Emma anyway because.. 1. He got rejected by her. 2. He already shot Jimmy for pulling that prank on him for which he didn't do in the first place. (This reason alone was the final nail in the coffin for trying to kill her.) If Jimmy was never shot then Rick would still be alive and was probably gonna do time in jail, an Juvenile Center or get some serious counseling.

This means that Rick would still be alive because he might actually think that the whole idea of bringing the gun to school was silly and he wouldn't even bring it out and Sean wouldn't accidentally shoot him. Rick never even brought out the gun in front of someone before he was about to shoot Jimmy. This also means that the whole shooting incident never would happen, meaning Mr. Raditch wouldn't step down as principal and Mrs. Hatzilakos would not take his place. This also means that Sean would still be around for the other half of season 4 and season 5 and Sean wouldn't be recognized as a hero for saving tons of lives. This also means that Emma wouldn't suffer from PTSD from Rick pointing a gun at her face and Emma most likely would not have any character development. This also means Rick would not die but people would slowly start to forgive him just like people eventually forgave Spinner for his involvement in the prank and getting Jimmy shot. Rick would graduate with his friends and they all lived happily ever after. So much could change in one simple pull on the trigger.

Jimmy getting shot did give him a 180 on his personality and even Spinner's, the Jimmy and Spinner separation was def needed, they came back stronger as friends.
