The soap surface is usually dry and crumbly ,so you should slice off the top of soap before carve it.

Soap carving isn't so difficult because soap is softer than other carving materials like wood ,stone and so on.
There are very difficult and delicate designs though.
I think it takes about 1 year to get hang of the basic soap carvings.😊

Gorgeous. Never carved anything but i did use clay. I may try it off to restore a bird shaped candle over my grandpa's, since i have a candle of a similar color. A bird head may be simple enough for a rookie i guess❤
