    I love how you know a lot about the vehicle before the review, but then when you're taking a closer look, you nerd out like a kid in a candy store. It's so much more authentic than any other "car reviewer" UA-camr.

    I worked for Mercedes back in the Pleistocene era. They've ALWAYS been very engineering savvy. And the parts that make the car go, stop and turn have always been top notch.
    I'm not surprised that you were impressed.

    Steering wheel heat switch is on the left side of the steering column. I had to look it up in the manual - before that I used "Hey. Mercedes" too! For the seats, there is a switch on top of the second row seats near the headrest that will move them forward electronically. There's also a switch in the arm rests of the third row to open/close the seats (so you aren't at the mercy of someone to open them!). Smallest wheels MB supports are 21"; I bought a set for winter tires and have the 22" for the summers.

      Right, I was curious at what a Wagoner costs as I see a lot on the road and couldn’t believe that anyone would spend that kind of money on them when they could buy a MUCH better luxury SUV like this or BMW or Audi? IMO that’s a real kind of stupid there.

  • @bsclifton
    @bsclifton 11 місяців тому +5

    Great review! 🙂 I have the previous generation (X166) and it's a very solid car. However, much of the engine maintenance is definitely outside of DIY capabilities. Like you saw, all the plastic tubing under the hood - that will crack and break. Besides the book time, techs and service advisors will often budget replacement of those parts in the repair because it's probably going to break 🙁 For the 2nd row, you got the back down... there is a pull handle (pull UP) behind the seat. That will fold it forward and a motor will move the 2nd row seat forward to make it easier to get in.

  • @JoshuaKoerner
    @JoshuaKoerner 11 місяців тому

    I don't know what goes into my upcoming suggestion, so disregard if you wish. It'd be interesting to know the actual distance it takes to stop from whatever speed you're traveling during the brake tests. It could be interesting to compare against other vehicles in the segment as well. Obviously, tires make a huge difference, but if it's what the manufacturer recommends, that's important to know as well.

    Great review of an incredible car!
    I have generally considered Mercedes a bit excessive & unremarkable for their price point (i.e. the 2nd world war G-Wagon ( I drive a V8 Jeep Overland), but this SUV seems to knock it out of the park for its price range.
    I would struggle to justify the additional cost for a Bentley comparing it to this offering, which has been a consideration. Your review seems to have nailed the driveability & comfort considerations, especially that back-up the hill.😁 You would be an incredible Granddaughter to have along as a vehicle shopping companion. Given the prices of current offerings in the full sized SUV segment, this is very compelling. It is a bit surprising given the offroad capability the MB put very street oriented tires on it. Even 20's with some Pirelli Scorpion Zero's would have made a big difference. I've done some fairly light offroading in my JAG F-Pace with those tires and had no issues, ' cause, you know, sometimes you just have to get to the top of the next dune for afternoon tea ... or I'm a jackass.

Better to get Lexus LX570 J200 which has the awesome 5.7L and is built in Japan. The previous gen Toyota Sequoia also with 5.7L would be my second choice but it is built in Indiana so slightly less desirable.
