I just put in a new starter this weekend. This video really helped a lot. I was able to remove the oil dipstick tube by simply wiggling it back and forth from the top side. It took about 20 seconds and it popped right out. The 14mm bolt on the top was really tight as mentioned in the video. I needed to use a 1/2" drive breaker bar in order to get enough leverage to break it free (I also pre-soaked with penetrating fluid). I'd say everything was fairly easy. I found getting the cable back onto the starter the most difficult as there's not much extra cable to work with. You just need to get the starter up as high as you can (90 degrees from how it's installed), and you'll have just enough cable to get it over the stud. It took me 3 hours total. Thanks again for the excellent video!
Thank you so much for posting this. Swapping this out for a friend today. I didn't look it up till just now i was i like NO way i have to take off the intake manifold.... Now i would need to order gaskets . Not anymore bcuz of this vidoe !!
Yeah that's ridiculous to have to removed that for the starter doing more work for yourself. I did see 2 or 3 videos telling you to do it that. I agree this is alot better
2hrs later, new starter. Not too bad, had trouble with the top bolt of the starter it was super tight and not much room to move so I took the alternator off. Easy after that
This video is a lifesaver! Why in the world did Honda recommend taking out the intake manifold? (It's in the factory service manual too.) How long did this take you to do?
Thanks! mine is making a bit of hanging noise when it is cold outside. What is the best brand or most reliable aftermarket starter for these cars? ... as most are rebuilt.
The one I have listed on Amazon is still working fine in this car. It is high quality and looked very well built. I don’t have experience with any other, I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
My jazz is making a scraping noise when starting . Its worse in the cold , once the engine has been started and warmed up it doesnt do it until the next morning when its sat cold again . In summer its alot less often. Its failed to start once when i didnt drive for a whole day .
@AutoScholarwithMrB one day mine just failed to start until I kept doing it on and off and it did then start. Worried about the flywheel to be honest now .
I followed your video exactly- it was the clearest one, thanks! But now the car won't start at all... (It was still starting before but was making the same noise as yours). I checked the plugs were all reinstalled, but I'm getting nothing, not even turning over. What are the chances i have a bad starter? (Rebuilt Bosch- couldn't find one new.)
Hi i cant find ANY information anywhere about how to replace the specific STARTER TO BATTERY CABLE for honda fit (2012). Everyone talks about replacing starter or replacing battery terminals but nothing about the battery cable that goes down all the way to the starter. Can you help?
"just reverse the process to install it" dammit. I cant get my starter back in. Stops half an inch from being fully seated. Cant find out why its hanging up. Its the same starter, just replaced the transmission. Ive spun the flywheel/torque converter a ton of times and it wont seat.
Just finished the job. It took 2 hrs to remove it and put it back. No problems.
Thank you so much. Way better than the Honda manual instructions.

How did it go ? I think I have a bad starter on my 2009 jazz
@@ndavies5968how did that go? I’m about to swap one on a 2010
@@DeathByLego How did it go? Need to replace one on a 2008 jazz (hope this one gets an answer and breaks the no response streak :-) )
I like how u don't tell us how it went 👎🏿
It can be taken care of after removing the oil filter. Slide it out and it's a done deal. Not hard.

I can do this in probably an hour or so.

That is what this one was doing, but it never failed to start.

Great video. Can I do this with just my front tires on ramps?
Yes!
Is the stater for Fit 2011 is the Rotary version?
Mine is Honda Fit 2007. Can it work on my car?
I am not sure on that.
great shop class

Could be bad, you can remove and test at most auto part stores. Sorry you are having trouble!
Also, this one came from Amazon and I’ve had no issues. The link is in the description.
Did you figure it out?
Yes... The plug wasn't inserted all the way😂

Most cases swapping a cable like that wouldn’t be necessary..
"just reverse the process to install it" dammit. I cant get my starter back in. Stops half an inch from being fully seated. Cant find out why its hanging up. Its the same starter, just replaced the transmission. Ive spun the flywheel/torque converter a ton of times and it wont seat.
Yall do I seriously have to remove all that stuff?
It looks like there’s plenty of space from the bottom to wiggle that out
What I want to know 😂
Try it with out and let us know how it goes
I'd say you absolutely do. I just did mine this weekend (see comment above). It's still VERY tight with removing all the parts in the video.
