That is a good sized and good looking streamer. It actually looks like it would be interesting to try. You done a very nice job tying this one. Enjoyable video Matt. Thank you.
No way! That's pretty cool. Did I pronounce it correctly? Oh-WAY-go? Or is it Oh-wee-go? From what I read there used to be some nice brook trout in it. Looks like a beautiful place.
@@Sidiousmoz Thanks friend! Good to know. I'd love to plan a trip to upstate NY, maybe fish the Battenkill and some of these other streams. Maybe someday. :-)
Thanks Dave. I haven't used it yet, but I'll toss it a few times the next time I do some streamer fishing. Hopefully it'll fool one of the Gunpowder or Savage browns. :-)
Nice tie Matt. The names Owego and Valla caught my eye. I can't remember being in Owego, I think it's on the Susquehanna. But I have been around Ithaca, which is a little north of Owego. Great hunting and fishing in that Finger Lakes region. That's what I love about Valla, he's a "home boy"! I don't have the Classic Streamer Fly Box, but a completely different Owego Streamer (bucktail) is on page 165 of the Tying & Fishing Bucktails book. Take a peek. Thanks Matt!
So I just happened to sit down at my computer and saw this comment pop in. And the book is right here. And yep, he does have another one that is 100% different than the Owego Creek from his "Classic Streamer Fly Box." Interesting. But man, both books have some beautiful patterns. Have you seen the Gold Digger (p158) and the Irish Buck (p160)? I've got to tie both of these. And the Slaymaker little trout series? Those look fun!
Seems a bit elaborate for Owego Creek. About 20 minutes away from me. Only fished it a few times when I was beginning fly fishing and taking my kids along. I'll be asking local fly fisher's about the fly. Leon Chandler Chapter of TU and Twin Tiers Five Rivers chapter of Fly International are very active in the area.
That timed just right, Matt. I walked in the door and saw it was posted a minute beforehand. Genuine jungle cock! Nice. I always wanted to use them, but never could bring myself to shell out what they were demanding. As the story goes...too many other dry fly necks and miscellaneous (oftentimes unnecessary) gadgets to buy....
Yeah, I bought the bullet last year and picked up a grade B cape online somewhere. I've used it for about ten flies so at that rate, should last me a long time. Buying 3-4 good Whiting dry fly half-capes would have probably been money better spent.

Beautiful fly. Owego is one of my local waters here in NY.

@@SavageFlies It is the Oh-wee-go in our accent.
