Knox wrote this song about his cousin, the last verse is from the perspective of his cousin.
The verses were just Knox's way of dealing with his cousin's death and was just for himself at first, and then he showed it to Ren.. together they took it to a whole new level.
Great reaction to this very heavy song. ❤

From Wikipedia "Fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic piperidine opioid primarily used as an analgesic. It is 30 to 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine; its primary clinical utility is in pain management for cancer patients and those recovering from painful surgeries. Fentanyl is also used as a sedative. Depending on the method of delivery, fentanyl can be very fast acting and ingesting a relatively small quantity can cause overdose."

I really like Knox Hill as a reactor. He is so interesting. And funny. But, I have not checked his stuff out. Thanks for doing it

Opioids killed my brother and my best friend. And there was nothing we could do. You mentioned Russell and RFK Jr. At least they call out big pharma. Thx

But main thing is that in most societies, drug use was learnt and regulated by elders.
Even true for young men learning drinking with older men - not in fields - Jaze I’m going on, but it’s a subject that interests me.
Ren - Money Ties, released last night.
    ❤️👍🏽👍☘️

It's an interesting topic! Can't wait to get to Money Ties. I've been busy, but hoping to do some more recording tomorrow. So should be out soon.

Nope, I'm not saying that the problem doesn't exist in other Western countries but it's the US where it's on a completely different level. For instance, in the UK there are roughly 50 to 60 deaths from Fentanyl and synthetic opiods, each year. For the US to be on the same level, per capita, you'd be looking at 300, maybe 350 deaths each year. In reality the US death rate from Fentanyl and synthetic opiods is between 200 and 250 times higher. US deaths, each year, hover around the 75,000 mark!

We used to be a society that appreciated more than just money. Even the big shots were to a degree decent and they cared about their employees if they owned a business and would have employee appreciation like picnics or holiday things. Now they are totally distant and see the employees as both just a number and as leaches. They hold a sneer towards them.
The adults of this country would make sure the schools were well funded and cared for and the teachers paid decent. And they would vote for these things positively but, now they won't even pay one cent towards improving the schools or education. Teachers are now so badly paid and yet, they have to fund so many of their classroom supplies because there is no money for the schools themselves to do so.
This is just a small example of what has happened since the 60s an 70s. when we had good roads, clean parks and kids were well educated. When people were appreciated at their work.
When there were unions to protect them. When the politicians like a Senator or Representative would go to breakfasts and meet with regular people and not for photo ops but, just as part of the job. They would hold town halls. They would be normal. Now they hide from people until elections. They never really talk to or care what the little guy thinks or says. All they care about are the rich donors and doing their bidding. They don't ever pass laws or do anything to make the communities better or quality of life in the US. They only do what the rich wants.
The changes started in the 70s. but, went full force in the 80s and we have seen the quality of life, the mindset of people and the society fall apart. Everything is about money now. Only money. And the despair that has gone along with the crumbling of society and greed that seems to be everything we have people reaching for drugs and a high that lets them forget the crummy life they have. All of this, the drugs, the crime, the increase in poverty, the greed is good mindset the uncaring of others, it all goes hand in hand with the way our society has turned since the late 70s and 80s.
I think Robert Kennedy Jr. is cookoo. His mind has been blown for too much drugs as a teen and young adult. He is totally crazy and conspiracy obsessed. His own family loves him but, thinks he is nuts. But, he is right about our food. They put all these fillers and crap in them. Especially increasing the sugar and salt in them. Our foods are not very healthy. This he is right about. Just make him leave our vaccines alone.

It's a mess for sure, Diane. The gap just keeps getting wider between the rich and the poor and I'm not sure if that is a symptom or a cause of the mess. It's probably a bit of both. As for RFK Jr, as far as I can tell he isn't anti vaccine and from the podcasts I've seen him on, he's just questioning the amount of vaccines there now are and the safety of some of them. The list of vaccines given to infants does seem to be pretty huge these days. Maybe he is crazy, but these days there doesn't seem to be a politician that isn't! Here's hoping he cleans up the food industry anyway.

Yeah this would have been a challenging one to react to, given the heavy storyline and the dark ending. Needless to say it is Knox's way of trying to put the spotlight on a modern money driven travesty. Given Ren's involvement I suspect that there are influences from this that flowed in to Ren's latest "Money Ties." Nice work. Kia kaha from NZ

Thank you for listening to this. I've watched Knox Hill as a reactor. This isn't the kind of music I care for, but I appreciate his message and support that. I also watched his new video called Drive Thru once. *laughing* I won't again because the end was kind of gross but go for it! @KnoxHill, @CityofSound.
