  • Amongst many good 9x12 cameras, there were some unnamed ones. Cameras made by certain photographic companies, but sold under dealer's name. Let's meet two of them.

    My daughter and I really enjoyed your video. My grandfather... her great grandfather had one of these cameras that he took to Japan with him in WW2...your video is helping us learn how the camera works. Since she is home schooled we are using it as a lesson... so a big thank you.

    The first one looks extremely similar to a “Zeiss Ikon Maximar 207/1”, I just found in my grandpa’s old stuff.

    Hi Kris. Thank you so much for this video. I have got a Compur Leonar and didn't know how to remove the viewfinder back - your video gave me the needed hint! Thanks! Now I just need to find some cassette for instamax film...

    This is not a "no-name camera" - this one is Orion Rio by Orionwerk Hannover. The round sticker placed inside the camera body on the right-hand wall will prove it. Btw, a very good piece of equipment.

    Sometimes a builders tag is on the inside of the box, next to the bellows, on the top right or sometimes the left side, as you face into the camera. on the second camera, I thought I saw a tag as you were moving it around, on the inside left top of the box sidewall. Good luck!

    Hello! They both look like Porst cameras (the bubble level/viewfinder combo seems quite typical ). The first looks like a Porst Noris, the second, I am not sure, but looks a bit like a Porst T.
    *edit* posted without finishing the video, and your tag confirms my first recognition :)

    Thanks Kris. Now I want a 9x12 plate/film/paper camera, too. I know I have one or more of those thin metal plate holders in my horde. Gotta find 'em. I wonder what lens the camera has?

      the lenses varied from camera to camera. Some had cheaper 3 element lenses while others had nice Zeiss lenses. I used to have a Voigtlander Avus with Compur shutter and nice skopar 135mm lens. Here's a video. ua-cam.com/video/IFvQVGp9teQ/v-deo.html

    I found it and it is a Cameo camera. The lens says the Altus uno f7.7 anastigmat. It closes down to f45. The shutter circle says LUKOS ll. the shutter works. The glass is clean. Nice, but no ground glass. It only has one metal glass plate holder. Old cameras are cool. The waste level finder is HUGE. Glass area is 9 x 13.5 cm. It'd be challenge to actually use it...maybe some day.

    We have at least two words coming from these cameras in today's language:
    1. Wireframe
    2.Standard
    If you don't know the brand it must be made by Cosina 😅

    I have a really cool fotokor that I bought in St. Petersburg. basically it was made before the soviets learned how to make their crappy lens and they used a carl zeiss/ compur shutter on it. it is exactly the same lens and shutter that you have on the second camera.

    Hello, I've got the exact 9x12cm camera like this! But unfortunately, mine came without the film plate holders.
    Do you know anywhere I could pick up a few of these from? Or if you could tell me the name of the plate holder you are using?
    Thanks!

    • @krisb8781
      @krisb8781  3 роки тому

      You can look for fotokor plates on eBay but not all will come with film sheath. Make sure you get plate holder and film sheath with it.

      @@krisb8781 Thanks I will look around for that! I've found some plate holders resembling yours from Ukraine:
      www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-METAL-Cassette-for-plate-films-9x12cm-leningrad-for-FOTOKOR-camera-0717/373221170503?hash=item56e5b71d47:g:LVoAAOSwQbFfZcKI
      But of course, they do not come with a film sheath. Very difficult to find the perfect one it seems.
      If you know of any listings that looks like your film holders, I'd love to have a link!
      Thanks!

    Hello I bought the same camera a week ago Thanks to your video I was able to open it hehehe However I don't have plate holders with it and I'm a bit confused 9x12 cm plate is not 4x5 Inches but someone I a forum said that the sizes of the holders must be the same ... do you know what holders would work with this camera ... ?
    Thank you !

    • @krisb8781
      @krisb8781  2 роки тому

      Hi. 9x12cm is not the same although close to 4x5. Also standard 4x5 will not work with 9*12. Try getting some Russian Leningrad 9x12 holders on eBay and make sure they come with sheet film inserts if you plan using Paper or film.

    No flippy screen???!!

    • @NextScamdemic
      @NextScamdemic 5 років тому +2

      Kris Bochenek Just a joke. If you see enough camera gear videos nowadays it’s something all the gear heads are saying about modern cameras, “I’d switch to Sony but why didn’t they come out with a flippy screen!” Or “I can’t believe Canon is the only one that makes a flippy screen, they should all have it by now!” Etc. Not sure it’s funny when explained 😉

    Hi, do you think there's a way to put some instant film (like fp-100c) on those plates?

    • @krisb8781
      @krisb8781  7 років тому

      not a simple way I don't think. You could do some tests to see how it turns out, but you would need to load individual sheets in darkroom, expose, press out the developer packet, time wise, I don't think it's feasible.

    • @zioninni
      @zioninni 7 років тому

      In a home studio I could do that, assuming that I manage to load successfully the film in complete darkness.
      I'm now researching if I can adapt / mount a instant-film back, like the Fujifilm PA-45 or Polaroid 550, but again, I have no clue if those would mount on the camera..
      Thanks

    There is one little problem of those cameras is collecting dust and I know that you can buff and everyone especially you that you only collect campus and you always collect dust but never used for anywhere around the world but one day it would get refilled and bring it back again with black and white and how it looks like it from the past present and maybe in the future you will see it but the problem is that you need to fight the last of gredients to how they do it in the past if some people still have her sale like me failure your sim card today binary using but a big fat sink are a big fat SIM card old camera but the problem is that that's in card it doesn't exist anymore but one day it will bring it back but the problem is that if the money what is the money you got the money already and you sent those ideas made in China but it is the truth anyway but I know that everyone want to say that we want we want to mate in America but this is going to do going to be very difficult and you need to find the equipment the ingredients to Liquid Paper and order that could bind us together and it will be the first successful like the big fat card and then you can reload again and again and again and you excited everyone excited even the state of 50 of them going to be excited but the point is that they used to be look like made in America for the past present and future and they've been doing this for the for the path for the 1900 for the 1920s 30s 40s 50s 60s and the last one it was 1969 but something happened in 1970 I don't know what's going on why the company shut down right there if the few companies still open if they still making does refill right there for the past maybe you could be safe and if you use it again and they can make a copy again made in America today right now but the problem is that not every single one ingredient safe this is going to be very difficult to make those so I am saying the truth I know you always collect cameras and dust but never used before Cuvee member of Kodak got company right there made the biggest one ever and that is made in America and then after that the cell phone camera came out somewhere like in 2000 the Kodak company was shut down for good but however if they could bring it back again using black white and baby and color the same technology for the old cameras you still have and upgraded to be a better one now that is a new idea right there but the phone is that you and me and everyone else are not United here we are divided and this is the truth I'm telling you but someday that it will bring back the Kodak Factory and even use that we feeling choosing the old campers for the past present and today the future someday but the problem is that it is the money that they need this is why I don't like greedy rich people get greedy more and unselfish they got no any respect I do not like no much people because why they always tell a lie not telling the truth but one day money will be extinct and Technology going to replace of money right there so technology is money right there for the past present and for the future do you know that how many technologies-america always get a new ideas for the past present and no future for those older technology like you have a old cell phone for 2000 all the way to 2017 and then does older technology could be upgraded that's it
