I've read countless comments for this film and I realize I am now a member of an old era. When I made this film I had never once felt like I might be in danger of being shot at school. That was not a normal occurrence. This was made based on a nightmare I had and the small hand full of videos I could find to help with my research. If you can believe it, at the time I was surprised at the small amount of videos available that showed a school shooting. It was a rare tragedy to me. I know that my film and characters seem dated now, but at the time I wrote it school shootings seemed like a tragic, incomprehensible rarity.

atapper10 I am a member of the new era, the one where school shootings are common and where my mother, father, the rest of my family, and even I fear for the lives of countless kids around me. I wish that this day I’m living in was a simple nightmare that we all could wake up from. The way this was portrayed and how it played out was very astonishing. I never expected the outcome and in a way the fear displayed on Connor’s face was just a outer reflection of all the kids out there that have had these tragedies happen. It was an excellent short film and extremely well written/shot. Just thought I would add my input, have a wonderful day

joshua dun's drum set I think the director didn’t have a gunshot at the end because, as you said, it’s not what we expect. She leaves the ending to our imagination and we have to think for ourselves what happens next. Or that because we follow Connor from de beginning of the film to the end, when he closes the door, he doesn’t know what will happen on the other side, nor do we. We see this from his point of view.

But did y'all notice what the guy was doing in the end? It is very dark, but when he asked him to leave, he started to leave, but the gunman started picking up the gun. I think that was the best cinematic part of this entire short film. (With many other great parts before that as well.) Credit to the director of this for sure!

ElevenandNancyFan once I was in the restroom at my school washing my hands and a alarm went off for a school lockdown so I ran out of the restroom and went to a random classroom and locked the door I was super scared
A few days after the Valentines Day shooting, my a woman came on the intercom and said "we will now be on lockdown mode, I repeat, we will now be on lockdown mode." I didn't think much of it at first, but I heard my two teachers talking about how they didn't think it was a drill. One of my teachers said "she sounded kinda scared" The other one said "yeah, and they don't do lockdowns on testing days. " On that day, it was about a week after our STAAR Test, aka, the biggest test of the school year. Students who were absent on the day of the test had to take it in a separate classroom from everyone else. All of the teachers got an email confirming that it was NOT a drill. I told my best friend, who was right behind me that I loved her, and I was just holding her hand, because it was I thought that it was gonna be my last day with her. There were kids who were silently crying and praying. My teacher went up I'm front of the class and said "if any of us do die, I want to let you guys know that I love all of you, and I had a great time teaching you. " A bang came from the hallway. At this moment, kids were crying harder, and louder, not too loud so that someone outside of the classroom can hear them, but just so that someone from 2 aisles away from them can hear them. I started to write my funeral plan, because I thought that I was gonna die that day. I wrote down where I wanted my funeral and where I wanted to be buried. I also wrote a note to my family saying goodbye. A few minutes go by, and not another bang goes off. Another hour goes by, and we get let off of lockdown mode. It turns out that there was somebody shot half of a mile away from the school, and he was caught just 2 streets away from my school. I was so glad that they found him where he was, because he could have gone into one of the schools that were on the campus (most likely the highschool, because he was caught right across the street from there) and shot the place up.

I am blown away by the amount of views and interest in this short film. I made this because of a dream I had and coincidentally a few months later school shootings became more common than I'd ever seen before in my lifetime.
I'm saddened that, years later, this has become more relevant but I hope the point of this fillm remains relevant. To ask "why" is the important part, not to have a singular answer. Fast action gun access is clearly a problem but there is no single answer to a crime like this. It is the whole reason why I couldn't write myself into the place of the shooter.
Also, because a lot of people have mentioned it, the alarm sound is the exact one my high school used for lockdown drills. I realize now that most people know it more as a fire alarm.
I've just found this film today, and I give you big props for it. You guys are amazing. Please keep making more short films if you can, and keep spreading awareness

Emily Monk they had limited time to try and get things handled after the announcement, they would have to obviously lock the doors but as soon as the Active Shooters came in they started shooting so they had less time to hide.
I half expected to hear a gunshot once the guy left Brian, yet Brian seemed to wake up. It was like he was just the submissive one until his accomplice tried to kill his friend. It was as if he finally realized his actions but it was too late. Maybe he didn't kill himself because he knew how much it would hurt his friend. Brian betrayed him, but didn't want to hurt him any deeper after he came out from his dream like state.

i’m always scared that there’s a lockdown or a fire in my school while i’m in the restroom
If you hear a gunshot when your inside the stall just stay inside. Arm yourself with toilet water or something (if your strong enough pull out the seat maybe). If no gunshots are heard then just go and run like motherfucking sonic to the nearest classroom. Just some tips.

I find it shocking how real this is, it is actualy scary when im at school, my highschool is really close to the stoneman douglas highschool. And we have assilant drills now where we run out of the school and get as far away from school as possible. I have nightmares about going to school and having my best friends all get shot and how i would live with that the rest of my life, i always wake up sweating because how deathly afraid i am of that happening. I always think about what will happen to my mother and my little brothers, like what would they think when my mom tries picking me up from school just to find out i was shot dead in my classroom and how that morning would be the last time she saw me breathing and alive.
