- In this tutorial, you will see how to make a fairy house lamp with paper clay. It's an awesome recycling craft project You can make at home !! To make this craft I use mainly paper clay (DAS Modeling Clay), cardboard and a Nutella jar. It’s fun to make and you can use it as an awesome decoration.

✅ Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What clay do you use?
👉 I use a bought paper clay branded "DAS Modelling Material" - s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DDTv99T
PS: You can find it cheaper in your local art shop.
2. What's the difference between the bought paper clay ( s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DDTv99T ) and the homemade paper clay ( ua-cam.com/video/_Ef-U6aZEoI/v-deo.html )?
👉 The homemade one is not that soft and is only good for textured surfaces like stones and tree bark. It is very cheap to make so it might worth to sand it and work it a little more than buying a paper clay. However, you can't keep it more than 5 to 7 days in the fridge. It has the best consistency when you just made it and it's fresh, so I would recommend you use it in the same day or the next and don't make more than you need
3. Can I use air dry clay? What's the difference between air dry clay and paper clay?
👉 Often times shops will sell both paper clay and ceramic clay with the same label "air dry clay". It's true, both are air hardening but there are quite a few differences: air dry clay(ceramic clay) is actually mud, natural clay, while paper clay is made with cellulose and other ingredients. Paper clay is stronger than air dry clay(ceramic clay). Air dry clay (ceramic clay) shrinks and the paper clay does not shrink. This is why paper clay is the better choice for my kind of projects. My projects usually require you to cover a jar or a plastic bottle. If the air dry clay shrinks and the bottle or jar remain the same size... you guessed it... your air dry clay will crack all around. It might be a lot cheaper but it's not what you need for these projects.
4. My clay cracks, how do you cover the cracks?
👉 You don't, you change your air dry clay to a paper clay! See why at the previous question

You did a amazing job on this beautiful lamp...the colors are so bright and cheery that it looks like little fairy's would be coming out in the garden...where do you get they idea's? Do you just think about what you want to do and draw it out on paper? I am looking forward to seeing a lot more of your work...I love those cute little lights inside the lamp...that really sets it off and makes it come to life...
Have you thought about making lots of different one's and selling them around Christmas time...You could get a good price for your beautiful work...you should think about it...

Wow is all I can say just WOW!!
You did a great job and I really loved it until you started painting it. Also I believe the top would have been more practical without the large blossoms because the wear and tear of the daily use and twisting off the top will undoubtedly break them off after a while. I would have just left it with the interesting windows and made a few tiles to cover the middle top of the lid with the “rooftop.” I can see this being used in the kitchen to store teabags or sugar packets, or even gumdrops or MnMs. Nice project. It will keep one busy for hours on end. It can also be made with sculpty or similar colored clays that come in various colors and can be fired at 250 degrees in a regular oven, for more permanency. I would have made the body of the house a light color but not green, as the plants surrounding the house need to be green and you want them to pop, to stand out. The flowers, I would have made a light violet or pink or orange with yellow centers, not dark. All-in-all, a wonderful project; congratulations on your creativity!
Maria Jordan Carbonell you can’t bake plastic though. Even 250 would have melted the plastic Nutella jar and deformed it. So air dry clay was the best option.
