i LOVE how he came to pick up his new skool challenger in his old skool challenger. Good man! i'd love to meet jay, he;s such a car guy! :D i'd probably faint over seeing his car collection as to just how much money and beautiful engeneering i'd be looking at.
When I bought my First car, a used 1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible, I LOVED HER! But I had an idea: "Wouldn't it be Great if they (Dodge) would have the Same body style, but with the upgrades of technology in the Interior?".....hmm....& it only took Dodge 10+ Years to have the same idea as I did. LOL!!!! Nice to see you back, Girl! MOPAR TO YOU!!! XXX♡♡♡
@kpgpwi64 yes, the Challenger comes in a 6-speed manual configuration - or auto with an "auto stick" semi-manual shifter. The V-8 Challengers run from around $30k to around $43k or so.
Well, when the Challenger first came out they didn't have any manual version, IIRC. It wasn't until a few months later or maybe even the next model year that the manual came out, I believe.
@ChargerHemi29 Gilligan and Skipper only wore one shirt as well. Somehow I just see Jay on these same terms :) What I think is cool about the guy is that he knows his cars, how to enjoy them, and brings them out once in awhile for others to check out and enjoy as well.
this car looks sick in black! lucky ass leno man just adding to his collection...im gonna hate to see everyone with the base models when this car is released though but love the srt8
i used to see him drive up everyday by where i used to chill with some friends and he was always with a good attitude yelling at us and us 2 him but i never saw him drive the same car twice EVER!! i know he has but not when psasing by me lol gr8 guy
Yeah, and if it didn't have such shitty build quality -- it might not have been the sales disaster it ended up becoming.... with it discontinued halfway through 1974.
I love how Jay is careful with his cars... If it was one of those nascar drivers picking up the first available challengers they would of probably burned those tires on the way out till about the middle of the street..
@nelson4568 No, they went auto because the first year challengers only came with an auto. And by the way, that orange 70 challenger Jay pulled up in; has a manual transmission in it.
Nice looking cars, those new Challengers... almost as good looking as the original classics, but no doubt, better overall quality than the original Challenger.
@ChargerHemi29 With a bit of old fashioned elbow grease and dedicated hard work... The sky is the limit! I find it to be really nice to meeting a fellow gearhead... I am more passionate towards computers so I would most likely be found behind a computer screen rather than under an engine bay. However, I love mopar! I'm driving a 2.7 liter 2008 Charger... I know it's small displacement, but the engine is built like a tank! Dodge has really stepped up their game within the last half decade.
@ChargerHemi29 I hear ya there! When I meet celebs from the film & music industry, if I know they are into cars, that's what I talk. I was in Santa Monica recently, and a certain movie star was being bothered by reporters and I walked over to him and said: "The question I have for you is, how do you like mid-60's ford trucks?" The guy was totally jazzed to chat about old trucks. We had coffee for the next 45 minutes and it was all vintage cars & trucks talk, great!
I used to work for the British car Industry, I was directly involved in the development of the Jag V8 and Aston Martin V8 Vantage. but the pay was crap so I moved to the USA. Thats how great the British car industry is, where engineers are leaving and there's no motivation because the pay is the same as being a mechanic. No wonder there's no industry left!
I love the Challenger...the new Challenger SRT is awesome in black, and i woud love to owne one....but...my favorite is still the 1970 Dodge challenger R/T with the magnum engine and in black....lool
Screw the new. It's pretty and all, but give me that tomato soup orange '69 challenger that Jay drove in! Holy ravioli, I nearly wet myself, it's so beautiful.
@ChargerHemi29, he used to be a mechanic, so he does work on most of his cars. I would love to meet him for the same reason as you do, he loves cars. If I had his money id do the same thing.
well it's about freakin' time!!! I was wondering if Chrysler was gonna wait until we can't afford to gas it up before they released it! (not that we can afford it now) BEAUTIFUL!!!!
i wounder why they did not wait for the manual to come out hmm maybe there getting to old for stick an i wounder why he did not get it in the same color jay crazyness
Yeah, it's funny. I thought every computer had spell check. lol One of my videos are about how my husband speaks in punctuation sometimes. He really does this. :)
It shows you what date this was uploaded, so that should clue you off. Plus, if he was picking up "Challenger #1", and the car came out in 2008... another clue.

nothing beats old school muscle cars !
Jay Leno picking this car up is like us picking up a bike at Walmart. It is no big thing.
Nah it’s still a big thing. It’s just he has many off them
Jay Leno is just one cool dude.
Timeless beauty: 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T.
Jay's Red Challenger is gorgeous!
look at that 1970 challenger, good god
lol Jay seems ALOT more excited and entertained. Hes a cool guy, would be awsome to meet him someday
such a beautiful car, looks better than most foreign junk
Now that is an entrance. Only Jay could pull that off with such aplomb.
When I bought my First car, a used 1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible, I LOVED HER! '70 Challenger Convertible, well you go now girl MoPaR I bet she was sweet. Was it a 318 car or ?
Msflamingo2008 hell yeah!
The first ones were delivered in 2008 and only came in automatic. Jackson got #1 and Leno got #4.
The Black is awesome! I hope Jay didn't trade in his 1970 Challenger for the new one?
@kpgpwi64 yes, the Challenger comes in a 6-speed manual configuration - or auto with an "auto stick" semi-manual shifter. The V-8 Challengers run from around $30k to around $43k or so.
Thanks never heard of him down under...
Exactly Leno was so much more into it. I'm excited just to see the footage of it. lol :)
Well, when the Challenger first came out they didn't have any manual version, IIRC. It wasn't until a few months later or maybe even the next model year that the manual came out, I believe.
LOL thats freaking awesome. =D I can see my dad at 2:38 in the video behind one of the guys when the video shows Jay picking up his challenger. =P
@ChargerHemi29 Gilligan and Skipper only wore one shirt as well. Somehow I just see Jay on these same terms :) What I think is cool about the guy is that he knows his cars, how to enjoy them, and brings them out once in awhile for others to check out and enjoy as well.
Jay Leno is the man I aspire to be like some day.
this car looks sick in black! lucky ass leno man just adding to his collection...im gonna hate to see everyone with the base models when this car is released though but love the srt8
I like Jay Leno. He is one of us.
i used to see him drive up everyday by where i used to chill with some friends and he was always with a good attitude yelling at us and us 2 him but i never saw him drive the same car twice EVER!! i know he has but not when psasing by me lol gr8 guy
The red was built in 1970 and still look better.......
Yeah, and if it didn't have such shitty build quality -- it might not have been the sales disaster it ended up becoming.... with it discontinued halfway through 1974.
It was discontinued due to jimmy carters fuel crunch you idiot lmao! There were no muscle cars worth a crap after 72 .
These cars are awesome in black!
I love how Jay is careful with his cars... If it was one of those nascar drivers picking up the first available challengers they would of probably burned those tires on the way out till about the middle of the street..
I have a red w/black stripes SRT8 with a 6-speed and would never want one in an automatic!
No 6-speed option on the original SRTs.
gracilism That is why I waited
So. Some do. Nothing wrong with an auto SRT...
ya they developed the Mini (AKA Speedbump)
@nelson4568
No, they went auto because the first year challengers only came with an auto. And by the way, that orange 70 challenger Jay pulled up in; has a manual transmission in it.
@TheVjay86 There were no manual transmission challengers in 2008, they didnt have the manual until 2009
JAY IS THE MAN!!!
I've noticed that Jay Leno, wears the same clothes every single time he's seen in public haha I love jay:]
These cars are awesome in black! :-)
@MMAKICKS Unfortunately they didn't give them manual transmissions for 2008.
Yup, just drove by there this morning, it's an empty lot now.
wth Jay's older car looks so much better than the new one for some reason :P but again I am old American Muscle car fan
I like the old one three times more!
Bought a black SE and put SRT9 wheels on it. All the fun without the sticker shock
I have one, these cars are freaking sweet.
Is Craig Jackson part of that show Barrett Jackson Auction thing?
Why didn't you film the rest? He was gonna make a burnout very cool!
@willsco76 Yeah I'm sure the V6 models did because everyone was still in love with it because it was in Transformers
they have scooter mobiles! havent you heard the get 3,000 miles to the gallon and they go like 10 MPH.
Hello, Will they stop producing the Chrysler 300C and the Dodge Challenger?
@ladabyturbo
I think that Leno's Chally sounds BADASS!
np, happens to the best of us.
what year is this? because the 2009 and up challengers are available in manual trans. He should have bought the manual one
1:10 hey look - it's one of the cars that got destroyed twice in the original "Gone in 60 seconds"!!
good observation !
The Challenger at 1:13, what colour does it have?
Is it HemiOrange or Go Mango?
Does someone know what colour it have?
Jay do you have any cars from Mr. Norm?
do you have any cars from Sox and Martin
The new Challengers look really great!
...They just need a little more oomph under the hood.
@gregorymarak im pretty sure if he wanted to he could just go right back in and buy a manual...
I love the Challenger...the new Challenger SRT is awesome in black, and i woud love to owne one....but...my favorite is still the 1970 Dodge challenger R/T with the magnum engine and in black....lool
that's the 70 Challenger he drove in. someone else drove it out befor the new Challenger, that's the loud rumble you hear
Screw the new. It's pretty and all, but give me that tomato soup orange '69 challenger that Jay drove in! Holy ravioli, I nearly wet myself, it's so beautiful.
m dad has the same one. i love to ride in it i get alot of attechion!
i agree but dam that car looks good even if it cover in rust
If the back windows could go down on the new challenger it would beat out the 70's challenger in my opinion... but your right it is.
Press 8 and wait.....
Jay Leno Impression is awesome at 2:37 LOL
nothing beats first design,nothing
@ChargerHemi29, he used to be a mechanic, so he does work on most of his cars. I would love to meet him for the same reason as you do, he loves cars. If I had his money id do the same thing.
How could 13 people not like this
And what cars do the UK currently make?
you know he put the turbo in it by now added that extra 150 hp next to the 450hp
He kept them both.
At least Jay could put on a t-shirt and jeans. Damn it man.
Is Jay signing loan paperwork? I assumed he could pay cash for his cars.
Likely title paperwork. Dealer can do title and plates.
Hmmm, Camaro, Challenger, Camaro, Challenger, Camaro...You know what? I'll go w/ both! btw Black on Black looks badass
@hartsickdisciple The new SRT's have the 392 in them. Now that's worth buying.
Jay Leno aint no joke
well it's about freakin' time!!! I was wondering if Chrysler was gonna wait until we can't afford to gas it up before they released it! (not that we can afford it now)
BEAUTIFUL!!!!
jay leno has saved alot of sweet cars so id say the good outweighs the bad
I thought that I loved cars..BUT JAY LENO HAS MEEEE BEEEEEATTTTT...
My mistake. 25,000.00 more OTD for two pistons. And no lifetime warrantee on the powertrain. Ya real smart! lol
Owner of the barret Jackson car auctions, his company auctions off classic cars at crazy prices
You guys could have had this car. He bought it at the Barrett Jackson auction this spring for $400,000.
Black is such a good color
i wounder why they did not wait for the manual to come out hmm maybe there getting to old for stick an i wounder why he did not get it in the same color jay crazyness
the old one is very much stylish
I finally got one just like it. 😊
Yeah, it's funny. I thought every computer had spell check. lol One of my videos are about how my husband speaks in punctuation sometimes. He really does this. :)
I think Jay likes his 70 best too!
not true...the 2010 SRT has a manual 6 speed option.
who is craig jackson?
If I had their money, I would have at least turned 'em loose for the cameras, lol.
Dual Magnaflow Catback...Close to 300 hp, Its got plenty.
1 of the owners of Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction
Jay just recently sold this car at auction. www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/jay-leno-auctions-his-2008-dodge-challenger-srt8-for-charity-ar167039.html
old 1 is a million times nicer/ better sounding
Wow... listen to that purr at 1:20
was lenos an automatic//?
It shows you what date this was uploaded, so that should clue you off. Plus, if he was picking up "Challenger #1", and the car came out in 2008... another clue.
@Mogomezu It's a 70, they never made a 69 and it's not tomato soup red, it's Tor Red.
I love the way it looks and sounds. I just wish it was a tad lighter. But tuners will eventually get hold of them and fix that.
WTF? at 2:14 Jay manually adjust the mirror? The #1 issue isn't all-powered? lmao
+Pat Capp It's folded in. He's folding it back out
