Good vid 👍 Puzzled with "Havana can be found all the way forward aft of deck 7 " surely it's simply "aft of deck 7" ? We had an enjoyable cruise December 2024 but disappointed to find the Glass House hadn't served food "for a few months"
Just an observation I like that you have sectioned title but needs some more work, so much in Atrium section. You seem to have missed the Art Gallery! Some information for the Smokers as to the locations of Smoking Areas would be useful. Love the drone shots you used
Hi there, nice video. We are on Ventura in October, have cruised on her before, never had any problems. The staff have always been friendly and food has been very good. Regards, Ian.
Another good, honest and considered review guys. I’m sure she’ll regain some of her sparkle after her refit. The last time we sailed on her was 2019 on a 2 week Iceland trip and thought she needed a spruce up then. Probably prefer Azura but totally itinerary dependent. Some cracking prices are to be found offering great VFM just don’t expect champagne for beer money. 🙏👍
Thanks for watching! I don't think it is a refit, just a technical dryock. Refits usually take a little longer than 2 weeks, and when companies keep quiet about dry-docks its usually because they have nothing to shout about. Also, the interior of Ventura is in pretty good condition - P&O certainly won't waste money pulling up carpet etc if there is no need for it. The biggest areas of attention were near the pool decks, and if our drone flights after the dry dock are anything to go by, they haven't received the attention they need. As we said at the end of this video, she is quite an average cruise ship - but there is no doubt that she does offer good value for money, even with the standards not being as high as they once were! All the best!

Hey Guys, thanks for watching - glad its your second favourite Ventura ship tour :) Yes, we did too - a very creative sign ha! It wasn't really a refit, just a technical dryock. Don't think much was done to her, hence why P&O were so quiet about it. If she was being given a new lease of life, they would have made a bit more noise.

Well produced video. You have not mentioned or shown the Laundry rooms. In addition attached to the Gents and Ladies changing rooms by the gym there are FREE to use Sauna and Steam room (not allways working). Last time I checked the retreat does not give you access to Thermal Suite without paying extra. Another tip: in main dinning rooms you can request a cappuccino coffee at no extra charge (not printed on menu)
Great tour guys, hopefully they have fixed the pool areas on the refurbishment as that’s terrible! Not sure about the spa or retreat, no pool or hydra therapy pool!

On a 5 week cruise in February to carribean on Ventura, been on Brittania, loved it, just done Arvia lovely ship but understaffed and not enough seats, spent most of holiday in queue. Wouldn't do large ship again .

Hi, was this tour before she had her refit? We are due to sail on her next year and had heard that she's looking a bit 'tired'. So I was wondering if this is before or after her refit? Thanks
Hello Nicola. This was the cruise before. Just to be clear, it was only a technical drydock - not a refit. She was only in for two weeks, which means she has had a few licks of paint and they will address areas which need desperate attention - but as for decor etc, this will be exactly the same as it is in the video. To be honest, much of the inside was fine - just poolside areas that looked quite grotty, and cabins were a bit dated. But being such a short dry dock, we'd imagine cabins are unchanged. When a company is quiet about a dry dock, it's usually because they have nothing to shout about. Hope you have a great time!

First time we sailed on any cruise, was aboard Ventura. That was 8 years ago... was magnificent. Couldn't fault it in any way. Sadly, our last trip was on Azura. All aspects of this cruise fell well short of what we have come to expect. I doubt we will sail with P and O again.
Sorry that your last experience wasn't as good, but we can't say that we're surprised. We wouldn't sail with P&O again if it wasn't for video purposes - they just aren't the company they once were, and there are much better alternatives out there. Which cruise are you doing next?

Hey! This was the very last sailing prior to the refit, however she was only out of service for a couple weeks, so not much has changed, it was more of a technical refit (fixtures, fittings etc) 😀

I'm going on the Ventura next month, my first P&O trip. Having sailed extensively with Marella/Thomson I wonder how different the atmosphere will be. Is the buffet area so small that it gets overcrowded? Also, is it permitted to bring a glass of water or tea/coffee into the lounges, or do you have to pay at the bar? Thanks.
Hello Paul, thanks for watching! The buffet is large when it comes to seating, but in terms of the serving area it's time - and does seem to be very limited in terms of variety. Having said that, we've never felt that the variety with Marella is fantastic either, so you might find it okay. Yes, there is no issues with brings free drinks into venues onboard. Also, P&O allow for passengers to bring 1 bottle of wine onboard per passenger, and passengers can even pack soft drinks to be consumed onboard. It's a good way of saving a little bit of money, and you aren't breaking any rules.
You won’t want to go again. We just came off Ventura. The worst ship I’ve been on. Not enough places to sit. Very slow service. We waited over an hour for drinks to be served. The main dining rooms menu was very limited. I’ve had better in a staff canteen The buffet was also terrible very little choice, and leftovers from thr dining room lunch offered in the evening. Unfortunately we are booked on Ariva in November, we tried to cancel but we will lose our deposit. So we are booking the other restaurants ahead of our embarkation. It’s a shame we have to pay extra to eat nicely. We now appreciateRoyal Carribean and Carnival more than ever now. Their normal dining room experience outweighs P&O by far.
First went on Ventura in 2008. Thought she was wonderful back then. However I don’t find P&O as classy these days. The tacky paper gin bar sign says it all 🙈
Hello James! It was the cruise before the drydock! There wasn’t a refit, just a technical drydock. The interior featured in this video should be the same when you go.
@@sailawaymag We where on her In October and back on her in May to Amsterdam then on down to Portugal. I was hoping to see if there was anyhing done whilst she was in dry dock.

P&O have referred to it as a drydock rather than a refit, and they’ve kept details quiet - which implies that they haven’t got much to shout about. Judging by the drone shots which we took after the drydock, the outer decks look pretty much the same to when we were onboard! Hope you have a great time!
Considering it is just before refit, she is not looking that bad. I have seen worse on other ships/cruise lines. I just hope all cruise lines find it in their pockets to pick up their standards again to keep their guests happy.
Hello Stu! Yes, we were equally surprised by how good the condition was particularly inside - we have experienced so much worse. P&O really need to focus on getting the standards of service and dining up to scratch, as it's falling very short of what the competition are providing. Having said that, it still worked out good value for money for what we paid.
Just asking for a friend, going on his first ever cruise, to The Caribbean with P&O in December. The travel agents where he booked his cruise keep sending him emails regarding excursions during the cruise. Is it worth booking these in advance, or can they be booked during the actual cruise. Do they work out the same price, or is there an advantage to booking early (within the UK) or late (during the cruise
Why does the older P&O ships look so bland now days. their bigger ships look amazing but these smaller older ships look like so underwhelming now. If only they spent more time and money on them they'd be fantastic like they used to be. Great video though Dan and Jay as always camera work looks amazing
Hello, thanks for watching and dropping us a comment! Yes, the older ship's are lacking in the wow factors of the newer ships, and what's offered by other cruise lines it would seem. The standards aren't as high, and it seems as though they have transitioned into a budget product.

Yes they are, although they aren't the best! But should do the job for a short cruise

Again, a very good video, but the Ventura seems to have gone downhill Like other of the p&o cruises,poor service and limited cocktails
Thanks Cliff! the service is nowhere near as good, and you’re right - bar menus are pathetic. It seems as though P&O have become a budget product.

this is the newest ship when I was working in p&o, more advance and so nice. I am one of the crew who get this in fencantiere shipyard in the year 2009. I am the first poolfitter in this ship.
