That's why it's always good to know how to play multiple instruments, a guest drummer comes in and lights up your set, light that organ, that keyboard, that bass or that lead guitar up

@@Am71919 No, there’s always a good reason when things like that happen. In my case I’m part of three services and they take up all my time so I was told I needed to stop playing in the morning to have personal time with my family. Still sucks but I think it will keep harmony at home.

I was one of two house drummers, we were supposed to alternate between songs. I found out my aunt would check to see which drummer was next to play, and would wait for the other drummer before starting her favorite song. MY OWN AUNT!!! 😭😂😂😂

As a regular ‘guest’ drummer myself, I totally understand this, and yes it has happened to me as well! That’s why I try to avoid being flashy and ‘invading’ the house drummers’ setup. Still this was hilarious 😂

I’ve been playing for over 50 years (30 in church). The church had a nice kit (Sonor Force 3007) 5 piece set.
Along comes another church that shared the building with us (they have a Sunday night Brazilian service). Their drummer moves his 4 piece entry level kit in and tells his Pastor that the Sonors were a “jazz” kit. He proceeded to crack the 18” crash cymbal and breaks sticks often. He tunes the bass drum so low, the tuning lugs were so loose, you could turn them with your fingers.
But here’s the deal: To keep peace, I went along and played his kit, tuning the kick back to get tone. The devil wants to cause friction and separate brothers (or sisters). I trusted God and we’re working through it. It’s about Jesus anyway.
That being said, this was hilarious and the brother had some chops! Even the slow stuff was nice.
Your drumming is very musical. You were able to make your drums sound "bored" when it fit your character. That's talent right there lmao

I tell all guest drummers when they come to my church. You break anything I want the money before you leave here tonight. If you don't have it.. play with some sense.
Our drummer use to come late and I would have to take over for him and sometime he would not leave his foot pedal, and when it gets good to me and I just beginning to really have fun he would come and I would get right in the middle of a song and switch with him. His father and aunt would make me get up because I wasn't up to par with him.

This was never a problem as I play several different instruments, when a guest drummer would come to my church, I would always either get on the organ, the keyboard the bass or the lead guitar

Thank you so much for exposing this prevailing spirit that is so common in our churches, especially those of African-Americans. I say these things ought not B as it regards our rendering our gifts and callingsin service to our God. The focus should be on The one we are presenting the offering to. Not on the song; nor on the song type; but for and as unto Christ Jesus. Knowing that he will judge every thought, every word, every deed, and every intention of our heart.

BROOOOOOOOOOO...….!!! I used to drum for a Methodist church back in the 90's while playing trumpet, baritone, percussion (& dabbling with the sousaphone) in HS. There were 2 drummers who used to visit with their choirs & they would slaughter the set. A brotha named Doris & a sista called LuChina! I used to be soooo jealous of their talent & my church peers would clown me a lil & ask, "Why don't u play like that? You need to ask them to teach you something!" As we were all in the same age group, they were not the quickest to share their tips & tricks...… it seemed to come natural to them. LuChina did work with me faaaar more than the brotha did. HOWEVER, THEY COULDN'T SEE ME ON THE BRASS SIDE OF THE HOUSE!!! 🤣 God bless em, I pray they're doing well!
