facts! I just joined a grad chapter. you HAVE to build meaningful relationships . don't just kiss up to members for the sake of trying to become a member. be sincere & genuine in your efforts. it is a process. it is a journey. you cannot rush it. but the biggest thing is to build bonds!
I joined my org 25 years ago through a Grad chapter and I was sponsored by one of the members that I had a close relationship with. I had supported their functions, but mainly she saw I possessed the qualities that would be ideal to become a member. I 'm forever grateful she saw in me these qualities and I love being a member of my org. I have never disappointed her and always strive to be the member she knew I would be.
Accurate assessment of Graduate chapters one has to look for opportunities and connections.

Yes!! Going grad is not easy 🤦🏽♀️ I joined two sororities (Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.) and it’s definitely much more expected of you from Grad. But don’t let that stop you!
Malea Howard I’m confused. Is IPL a social sorority? Because last time I checked, you can’t become a member of two social sororities. Unless you dropped either IPL or ZPB.
pitbull4christ You’re absolutely correct! IPL is a black business sorority. And you cannot be a member of two orgs under the same council. So no, I can’t (and wouldn’t want to be 😂 ) a Zeta AND a Delta...

@@theotuconnectnetworking3529 There’s a lady at my church who is a member and she invited me to their business woman’s luncheon. That’s where I first got introduced to the organization. I went home, did my research, told her I was interested and the rest was history!
Personally, I didn’t know anyone going into grad chapter. I just sent an email to the Membership VP, came out to an event, went to an informational meeting, went through the interview process and then, it was the intake process and now, I’m a proud brother of The Most Honorable Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
It really depends on who you know because you’re right, each org and chapter is different with their selection criteria process.
That sounds about right for a Grad Chapter.

Hey Shea, is it possible to express TOO MUCH interest? Like if I already attend mostly all of the organization’s events and they host a Greek week and I attend 4/5 or 5/5 is that doing too much? Is it viewed in a “dang she be at all our stuff we get it you’re interested girl” or is it viewed as a positive thing. I don’t want to look thirsty but at the same time I do want the members to see that I show up and participate in their programs and events.
Ayana, it is important to support the orgs programs. Too much is never too much unless you're on the edge of stalker. The first thing Members look at is are you the quality of woman that the org represents? If you're not, then it doesn't matter how many programs you support. Make sure you're worth the invitation once one becomes available. Good Luck.

FYI, you can't "find' a sponsor. A member has to want to recommend you for membership once an opportunity arises, so you have to make yourself marketable. You do this by a number of things Shea mentioned in her video.
For a graduate chapter is it alright to let a member know it your interested
Your video helped a lot. I find it hard to pull my local chapters attention, seeing that the chapter isn't very active. What are something i can do to gap the grad chapter in my city to start to look at younger faces and to become active?
Joniquia Robinson I joined two grad chapter Sororities (Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.) and what helped me was attending the events that I could and then connect and get to know the members. Then I offered my personal skills and talents for one of their upcoming events. (I teach Zumba, and they had a health fair)...from that point I stood out.
I definitely understand that by far. Although there is no events or community activities that is being held. I found the grad chapter of my area on the website and it’s been like trying to pull teeth to get ahold of someone
@@joniquiarobinson7156 Oh wow!! Yeah that's not good. Have you tried contacting someone on a state level to see what email or phone number they have on file to reach the chapter president or something? Even if they're not looking to bring in new members, they should not be that hard to contact..

@@erikalatanya8478 Pledging Iota definitely prepared me for what to expect with Zeta. I always wanted to join D9 in my undergrad years. However, a lot of sororities never put up information about rush 😢
Hi, I have a question regarding membership requirements. Hi, in addition to the comment above, I did have a question on the membership requirements. If I have a masters degree, can I use my graduate transcript in place of my undergrad or do I have to use both. Asking because my grad is much much higher than undergrad. If anyone can answer please let me know.
Hey! You will have to follow exactly what the application calls for so if it says grades from your undergrad, you have to submit that. Hope that helps!
