Although I am not as good as you and I got killed and hit a lot, with your pointers on when to dodge roll/quick run/block especially during his desperation move, I was able to beat him. So thank you! I actually found Sephiroth to be a pretty easy fight at a high level after getting used to his patterns, especially since it's the same every time, and he has distinct parts of the fight. But Terra... Terra, man. He's so sporadic and different every time it's a wonderful challenge.
to avoid the pillars use a limit, reflect, drive transformation or dodge roll. You have infinite reflect if you use stitch xd. p.S> cant use stitchi in this fight. @octavia: there's a chance he'll run to you and use pillars.
Terra has lots of patterns, you learn the patterns from experience, and then you learn to predict + counter properly. Not super easy but not insanely hard either

I'm on my first KH2 playthrough (FM), and I've done almost everything bar Atlantica (because I wanted to put off that world), any of the Mushroom XIII and data battles and Terra. Thanks so much for that, makes me realise how stupid I was to go do stuff like Sephiroth with it.

You made the GAME look easy at level 1. So easy, that I decided to try and do it. After getting stuck on almost every story encounter, I just got to Xigbar. I can barely push sephiroth into the second phase, Larxene is impossible, how do I even START Marluxia?! But it has been fun. Thanks for making this sort of content, it reminds me lvl 1 cm is doable.
Biz, wouldn't dodge slash actually be good for decisive pumpkin because it adds 3 hits to your combo? Stacked with the actual ability too, i'd be interested to see a test in that.
+Deer Low Dodge slash takes like 1-2 secs to complete and can easily miss and get you killed, especialy in hard boss fights like sephiroth and terra. if you are in standard/beginner go for it (except terra and sephiroth).
Deer Low Dodge slash can easily miss even if you're ''good'' at the game and get you killed. you have to hug the enemies if you want to always hit the enemy. Also while sora is tap dancing around you dont have any control of him which means if you see a enemy slashing at you while you just sit there tapping square as hard as possible trying not to get hit / tyring not to die.
+Deer Low It's not just bad for possibility of missing (even with DP's length, it can cause fast recovery stagger enemies like Sephiroth to retaliate if you aren't mashing pretty hard), it's also bad because it's an incredibly slow move, which can be lethal in mob fights on Crit/LV1.

Always thought sephiroth was hard, when I got older and started to grind my level on final mix (I played original on ps2 for a few years of my life b4 final mix) he seemed pretty easy and has some predictable techniques. All you have to do us guard and reflect or dodge his attacks to beat him.

The first time I managed to defeat Sephiroth (which was the same day I'm writing this comment, in all honesty), I actually didn't use Decisive Pumpkin... However, I DID use the Rumbling Rose, as I found that after the first two hits in an aerial combo, you can stuff a square button finisher in there before the two finishing hits, effectively adding to the damage. :D In any case, it did take more than enough times to do it correctly... I believe I died 32 times, all in all.

What is your ideal ability setup for combo modifiers when fighting Sephiroth? I’ve fought him without combo plus and with finishing plus and with combo plus but I don’t think I’ve really learned the optimal setup. Trynna get an idea of different approaches if I ever have to fight him in rando runs and ways I can adapt from what is optimal.

At 9:59 you reflect then one of those bots actually hit you, but you take no damage... I thought it was glitch but Sora's face above the hp bar flinches thus stating you took damage but lost no health, what's up with that?
+Matthew Whyte The laser shooters don't damage you when they bump into you, similar to how Sora face flinches during xigbar room transitions or Zexion outside of book world hitting you. Some things just don't deal damage but can still hit you.

It's random what he does. All of those openings are preventable though either way with proper setup and reactions. It has nothing to do with difficulty mode, his AI is always the same across all difficulties & versions. He also doesn't punch 3+ times in a row until final phase, so that's a severe exaggeration
Bizkit047 I was being exaggerating as I was frustrated and wasn't being technical. He's the last thing between me and my Platinum and I've honestly tried to beat him 300+ times. The rage level is massive. I am learning every fight though. If I mess up one time, the fight goes to shit.
It depends on what battle you're on. For instance some data org fights are easier If you don't equip slapshot. Getting rid of combo pluses is also necessary sometimes.
This fight was so difficult for me until I realized that Terra has a ludicrously high Revenge Value so you can just beat the holy shit out of him for damage. I didn't realize until then that his defense lowers with each combo. Made this fight actually doable for me.

Hi, I have a question. Is it normal for Terra to use 6 rising suns in a row if i combo him only once. And is it normal for him to have 100% hp and stay forever inside the damn bike phase :(? On a note when he uses rising sun, he actually gets all tricky on me, he uses four dashes with the first one being a feint to like get close to me XD
I play on lv1 critical so I lost a lot and should know enough haha. He uses 6 rising suns(SOMETIMES)if he is in the phase where he uses that pillar of light thing(the move that locks your commands). As for the bike phase, just keep practicing your responses to his moves and summon stitch so you dont get hit by the drones if he double teams you with drones and his other attacks.
Wait do u do more damage in critical mode rather than standard or are they all the same. Cause I see vids with people doing way more damage in combos than I do cause I play standard rather than critical
Malcolm Grant true but my guess is it's a special thing that doesn't count like for example the fact that in the zexion fight if you are not in the "book world" you do not eat damage but sora does the damage animation
I've played through this game several times. I'm enjoying the 2.5 edition now. I've never seen anything like this though. How are you leveling up drive forms yet staying at level 1? It's very cool but I'm confused. Are you using a cheat device of some sort?
Rebornblader On critical mode there is a ability that allows you to stay at level one called "No Experience" you can level drives and summons, plus get bonuses from bosses but you won't level up.
HD 2.5 version of final mix has a issue with loading screens, whether its changing areas or trying to load in a drive form, the loading time is often too long for a drive mid-combo, pausing the game while the form is loading "buffers" the load so that the form loads while the game is paused, allowing the form to load instantly when unpausing; this prevents enemies from breaking out mid-combo which can happen often otherwise.
Hi Bizkit047, I am currently playing KH2.5 FM on PS4, the one that comes with the bundle with all 6 KH games, and the Terra that I fought in critical mode seems to have a totally unpredictable moveset. Have you tried that?
His AI on PS4 is identical. His punching move kinda got screwed up due to physics problems but you can just dodge roll at the right time after guarding it. The trick is to react, not predict.

So if you're good at the game and know how to not miss a simple combo, dodge slash is better with DP. I see.

Mp rage if you use limit form a lot otherwise mp haste is better for everything else.

what's 'Flash Step'? I know it's an attack modifier but whenever I equip it I never noticed that Sora is using it

He can sometimes use the sliding dash move 6 times. It has screwed me over because i play on critical mode :(
I play on lv1 critical so I lost a lot and should know enough haha. He uses 6 rising suns(SOMETIMES)if he is in the phase where he uses that pillar of light thing(the move that locks your commands). As for the bike phase, just keep practicing your responses to his moves and summon stitch so you dont get hit by the drones if he double teams you with drones and his other attacks.
What I don't get is why the english version of 2.5 doesn't label which save is which difficulty

If you mash hard and use a long keyblade Dodge Slash isn't really too bad, just annoying

Malcolm Grant true but my guess is it's a special thing that doesn't count like for example the fact that in the zexion fight if you are not in the "book world" you do not eat damage but sora does the damage animation

I've played through this game several times. I'm enjoying the 2.5 edition now. I've never seen anything like this though. How are you leveling up drive forms yet staying at level 1? It's very cool but I'm confused. Are you using a cheat device of some sort?
Rebornblader On critical mode there is a ability that allows you to stay at level one called "No Experience" you can level drives and summons, plus get bonuses from bosses but you won't level up.

can someone explain me why he's pressing pause when hes transforming?
HD 2.5 version of final mix has a issue with loading screens, whether its changing areas or trying to load in a drive form, the loading time is often too long for a drive mid-combo, pausing the game while the form is loading "buffers" the load so that the form loads while the game is paused, allowing the form to load instantly when unpausing; this prevents enemies from breaking out mid-combo which can happen often otherwise.

Hi Bizkit047, I am currently playing KH2.5 FM on PS4, the one that comes with the bundle with all 6 KH games, and the Terra that I fought in critical mode seems to have a totally unpredictable moveset. Have you tried that?
His AI on PS4 is identical. His punching move kinda got screwed up due to physics problems but you can just dodge roll at the right time after guarding it. The trick is to react, not predict.

You can also reflect it, block it normally or even jump over it. Or use some form of invincible bypass

You can do some research by watching Lvl. 1 fights those show the ideal way to fight Sephiroth.

It's always easier to be LV99.
Might seem like a dumb question but I've seen online about the Replica XIII needing to be level 1 or it's near impossible. So I didn't know if that's true or if it's only the Replica.

There are a few attacks in the game that don't actually do any damage, they just knock you back. That was one of them.
