I've been a cosplayer for nearly five years. My suits are entirely homemade, sewn by me, and detailed... I started with your tutorials. Thank you so much for everything you've given to this community, and thank you even more for giving me my start.
Hey John, have you ever considered trying a serger to sew the spandex. It would give it more durability and stretch. I know that this was a lifesaver for me and made me worry less about seams ripping do to high stress. The downside is you’d have to do a Baste stitch in everything before running it through the serger but it does give neater and more professional looking seams in your suits. Amazing work dude can’t wait to see more!
Think a more rami like belt would make this whole suit pop so much more but Ig that’s why we change up our patterns to fit personal preferences, other wise looks great
This was a great watch, John - very edifying! You make a good Teacher, keeping your instructions clear and simple. As a boy I used to watch my mother running up dresses for my little sisters on her old Singer sewing machine - wish I'd paid more attention, as it's an incredibly useful skill to have - and one which could have saved me a ton of money over the years! Take care, Dude. :)
I have a question: It's not more convenient to have a 7 piece suit? I get some people don't like de seams and lines, but you can remove the pants, gloves and boots when it's needed, and it's comic accurate.
Not really man as a 7 piece suit usually has to snap or Velcro into place to give that nice tight form fit although some artist have drew it as a one piece many times I like the 2 piece suit most as you can have shots with or without the mask
Im a bit late and idk if you said it in the video or not, i may have missed it, but what type of stitch do you use? Im a novice at sewing and hear that different stitches do diffrent things, like a zigzag can stretch? I think. That sounds like the best opition but i just wanna make sure!

How did you make the template for the upper body. I saw you used pants to outline the lower body.
2:44 he bend it over like he got no back bone
How many yards though? That’s the one thing I haven’t been a able to figure out!
I get around 2-3 of each blue red and black Lycra does enough for 2 maybe 3 suits if you cut right though I use most of the red for extra masks
