    Sir does margin requirements mandatory in all loans??
    Who decides margin %, or is they are statutorily fixed??
    Is it compulsory for customer to put margin money in bank account before getting loan ??
    Thanks in Advance

      Except small ticket loans say loans upto 25000 margin is mandatory for any kind of loans. This in order to ensure promoters skin in the business. Else the business will become bank's business.
      Board of each bank has power to decide margin based on regulatory guidelines.
      It is not compulsory to put margin in bank account. Say customer wants to purchase a machine of Rs 100. He can very well pay Rs 25 directly to the supplier and approach bank for the remaining Rs 75.

    Sir, do we give RTGS to customer or directly supplier?
    I have prepared disbursement request letters on behalf of clients to SBI and they always directly give to machinery supplier as per invoice details shared. I believe it is correct approach rather than giving money to customer.

      What you are suggesting is possible to implement when TL is disbursed at one shot for purchase of Plant or Machinery. But if it is project loan where construction of factory shed and other expenditure is involved there is no other way but to release loan to current account of the customer. This is where things gets interesting as you have to regularly reconcile the same.

      @@ShuddhDesiBanking okay. Yes in our case shed and building mainly was done by client and we had shown it as margin in whole project and taking money from SBI mainly for machines only.

    Can a proposed borrower bring the margin by way of a gift from his/her relatives?
    Can we as a banker accept this as margin?

    • @ShuddhDesiBanking
      @ShuddhDesiBanking  3 роки тому

      Yes that is possible. In that case we need to study the asset liability statement of the relative. We insist the relative to join the facility as guarantor. If the margin to be brought by relative is upfront then we can wave the guarantee.

    suppose machinary customer wants to buy is of value rs 20.00 lakh. what will be his margin?
    i think bank finance 16 lakhs and customer will contriubute 4 lakh. then rtgs will be made to company of rs 20.00 lakhs. am i right ?

    • @ShuddhDesiBanking

      Margin on loans depends on your sanction terms and internal guidelines of bank. You have understood correctly. And in your own example if the machinery price is Rs 20 lacs where you have stipulated margin of 20%. Customer should bring 20% of 20 lacs i.e. Rs 4.00 lacs and Rs 16.00 lacs should be bank finance.

    We wil sanction whole amt or deduct margin % & then bal amt will be sanctioned?

    • @ShuddhDesiBanking
      @ShuddhDesiBanking  4 роки тому

      Margin is to be brought by the promoters. Lets say project cost is Rs 100 lacs and margin is 25%. Bank will finance 75 lacs and promoters need to put 25 lacs.
