- The Battle of Gonzales was little more than a skirmish, bit it launched the Texas Revolution and ultimately the split from Mexico and alignment with the United States.
I had heard about this skirmish, but still now little about it. What I do know is, the Battle of Gonzales was the first military engagement of the Texas Revolution. I found your video informational, particularly the reference to the canon. I thoroughly enjoyed your video.
Greetings Karl. As usual thanks for watching.
COME AND TAKE IT! I’ve seen this bumper sticker from time to time and now I know it’s origins. Thank you!
Pretty applicable in today's world huh? Thanks for watching.
@@historymore442 Very applicable. Of course I've also heard there's been a steep increase in boating accidents in very deep water with guns on board...
@@nmelkhunter1 I got a good chuckle out of that one. I was recently in a boating accident myself. How about you?
@@historymore442 I was in a pack stock wreck with a great many pack mules on the side of a very steep 750’ canyon. Each mule had two guns...🤠
@@nmelkhunter1 Thanks for giving me a couple of nice laughs this morning.
You gotta do a video about the wizard of the saddle.. Nathan Bedford Forrest!
Good idea D Mac. In today's world I'm not even sure that a social media platform would allow it. Sad.
@@historymore442 revisionist have depicted general Forrest in a very negative light. Most of what people believe about him is outright lies. The truth is that his life was extraordinary, and his achievements during the war between the states were incredible. I have alot of information on him as I've studied him very thoroughly..if you decide to make a video Id be happy to send you some documented evidence that exonerates him from the negative charges upon him.
Come and take it, I love it. These Texans stood up for the Constitution and told all dictators to leave or eat shrapnel. This could be what we need to do today. Great job and stay safe.
Well said Born and Raised. You stay safe as well.
Texans were not even from Tejas. They were outsiders. They ran like bitches when the Mexican army arrived. After all, it was their canon and were nice enough to loan it to the big crybabies that all they ever did was complain!
Less a battle more a bit of a dust up. Must have been embarrassing to the man that fell of his horse.
Yep Big Blue. I don't think a bloody nose qualifies for a purple heart.
My Gggg is buried in Gonzales. Stephen Stuckey Smith. He was evidently wanted in SC so the Smith was added.
Thanks for watching Andy.
Thanks for explanation
Nothing but the best as usual. love the come and take it flag, that was a sweet fact. hope all is well, friend!
Yep Brandon all good here. Hope the same with you. Thanks for watching.

Well, the Mexicans came, and the colonists took off for safety in a woodland - some battle!
I’m a Texan, and a Castaneda. Hmmm
Well Hello Fellow Texan, my 5th great grandparents are Green and Sarah DeWitt.
"COME AND TAKE IT"
They ran like bitches when the Mexican army showed up for THEIR canon they had loaned to the big crybabies.
God bless Texas
Why should he???

Thanks for watching.
The texians who weren’t even from Tejas , weren’t born in Tejas ran away when the Mexican army arrived for THEIR canon!
