I remember my time visiting the BOS plant back in March. I’m honored to have the opportunity to visit while everything was still running. But I do look forward the new EAF!

Electric arc furnace steel is not that good quality as converted pig iron steel. Scrap is full of impurities (rubbers, wood, plastics, non-ferrous, etc.).

We have the most expensive electricity in Europe of not the world that pays for the green project. How the hell will this EAF be a viable thing. Germany makes steel a third cheaper.

It's such a shame the workers are visibly holding back the tears. Tata should foot the bill for supporting the town and the inhabitants that are never going to get another job instead of leaving the fallout to the tax payer. Greed and profiteering shame on the government for letting this happen.

Uk can't make plate steel anymore, e.g.wind generator columns have to be made abroad and imported. Arc steel is generic and mongrel.

Tories privatised the energy companies and now UK has highest costs putting UK steelmaking at a disadvantage so the legacy of people voting tory is a disaster.

It’s a shame that the plate steel for our subs & surface ships is supplied by. foreign steel makers France , Sweden plus others outside UK . We use to be world better in steel production ,now look at us .
