I like how they got Ted Lewis to voice the announcer, since he voiced several Pokémon battle announcers in the anime dub (I think he still does to this day, since he's still on board the show).
Fun fact:"Ted Lewis who was the original voice actor for Team Rocket's James (Season 1, Episode 1●8), Giovanni, Tracey Sketchit, Mysticalman Eusine (Suicine Hunter), Meowth additional voices, also provides the announcer for Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2 for the Nintendo 64!"
Hard to believe this was the same guy that voiced King Dedede in the Kirby anime. And Bakura in Yugioh. Had no idea these two and the announcer in this game shared a voice actor.
Ted Lewis's Enthusiasm and Energy really Immersed you in the Action and Mayhem that was Pokemon Stadium (Really Glad they Added this to Nintendo Online so we can hear Him in Higher Quality)
It's funny, because "go" is a common phrase used in English competitions, but also commonly used in Pokemon. So it has a double meaning, and you could hear a trainer be like, "Go, Charman- Oh, well never mind, then."
There's something so Wholesome about a grown man commentating on monsters kicking each other's butts in a gladiator style fight for glory! Lewis has such a charisma to his lines that can get any fan of the series hyped! Even when he messes up some of the names or battle moves there's something so authentic to his performance that people still are going to quote him to this very day. Such a great game, and such a wonderful announcer.
OK so the announcer (Ted Lewis) did a fantastic job with this performance. I still quote "Savage attack!" and "What's the matter, trainer?" to this day. But what the heck hapened to the Venusaur in this game? When it uses solar beam it looks like it's been up all night reverse engineering the battle system from Red and Green without any documentation.
I think maybe what they were going for is that Venusaur is straining itself to move so quickly since it's a giant heavy plant and probably doesn't move much. 🤔🤔🤔
I can remember like it was yesterday sitting inside my fort made of pillows and blankets playing this on a tv that was heavier than a car and of course with all the lights off. 90s was some good times!
I hear so much of Tracey from the anime. Makes sense though since it's the same VA. I just like his voice, so it's fun to imagine Tracey being the announcer in Stadium lol.
None of the above. The stadium games have announcers because the fights take place in, well, stadiums and colisseums. Except for Galar, there is no point on having an announcer thats only gonna be used like two or three times.
Did anyone catch on as a child that he only named the attack when it was going to be a knockout? There is more to our announcer than meets the eye, or ear in this case
@@FN64Productions if it’s supposed to it will kind of like in smash Bros when you see the weird animation when you get hit really hard but sometimes you hang on it’s the game thinking you’re gonna get knocked out that was the goal of it

Does anybody know why he pronounces some Pokémon names differently than in the anime? I assumed they got Ted Lewis specifically because of his work on the anime, but then they have him saying stuff incorrectly. Like, he pronounces the O in Garados and Zapdos with the short o sound, as in boss.
Kangaskhan is fucking busted. Rock slide, Dizzy punch, surf, and thunderbolt all hit decent with good speed while also being tanky with only 1 weakness.
Pokémon Stadium 1 >>>>> Stadium 2. Despite being the same person, in 1 he put much more emotion and energy. One of the reasons why the Stadium 1 battles are more entertaining than 2. In general Stadium 2 announcer and battles are more boring than 1. My favourites quotes are the ones that say the attack is too powerful even being resistant to the type.
