I'm a special fx artist and making my first film, I gotta say as someone who loves practical fx you guys have inspired me so much! really great work! thank you!
5 years old and I've only just found this video?! HOW!!! OMG - I'm so jealous ! Robocop was my favourite movie and I soooo love Ed-209 ! This was an awesome video to watch, thank you!
Im super impressed at all the time and effort you guys put into this. Its bloody brilliant. I was 14yrs old when the original film came out and ED-209 was my favourite robot. Great job!!!!! :D
Many years later and this is still amazing work. If we ever get another Robo production with practical effects, I'm sure many of these techniques will be used.
Way to go guys! I LOVE that you totally went all the way!! I LOVE ED-209's and you did a terrific job! I hope that Phil Tippet gets to see your honorable nod to his stop-motion creation!
And I thought it was ME who was passionate about ED-209..!! Super Super impressed with the time you guys took to put this all together. Loved watching this :)
These guys have a great engineering work ethic they don't give up. More importantly they have Heart. Oh bye the way I will be hiring them for my movies. Coming soon from Mangamerica
Thanks. There are some killer scenes in the whole remake. We made a few good friends from the filmmakers’ screening. Fatal Farm did an incredible one. And the last scene is perfect.
Peter Weller is most definitely a trooper. Our ED-209 suit was heavy in a different way because the head sticks so far out from your body, that it takes about 50lbs of back-lifting force to keep it from falling forward. So even just standing there, it's constant flexing and strain. Very difficult even after 20 seconds. We wish we had the time to engineer some sort of counterweight or spring system.
You can see the passion in this project!! ED was amazing. Also loved the spinning wheel to create the strobe effect!! Maybe next they'll get you guys to do Aliens? :D
Could you go into the process of how you got your 3D model accurate, or let us know what your process is for turning screencaps into real imagery was? The accuracy you guys hit was insane.
love it! that's great had no idea how that might have been really done, love the puppets too! like the fact that I heard him mention embracing the flaws ...I agree to that... lots of creative joy when into that film I like it really do! RG
Seriously, in the movie it looked funny because of the legs and stuff, but once he started to move you realize it actually moves much more natural than the original! Sick!
Okay, the whole Robocop remake link is in the description. Good. From the parts I've watched, the remake was great production value, accurate to the movie and just plain hilarious. It was comical how the cast kept changing and very creative how you guys employed a number of movie styles to keep it fresh - and me guessing what will you guys do next. However, the bad part is that a third of the screen is cut out from the bottom. For example, I couldn't see the puppets too well whenever they were in scenes. Other than that, superb job everybody!
Oh also, if you want to get rid of that "bounce" that makes stuff light, add foam as a shock trap for the base points of the movement and then add a little bit more resistance into the joints, and you'll see mechanisms shake a lot less which can help you sell something as heavier than it really is -- because all of the weird oscillations that lighter objects have are minimised at source and what's left over is absorbed. Downside is it can be kinda noisy sometimes, depending on the type of foam and for some stuff, styrofoam just makes the most god awful sound. I find sorbothane and calk works best.
How the f##k are you guys not working with major special effects studios? That's awesome!I'm a huge Robocop fan.i was 7 when the first movie came out and I've been a huge collector of robocop ever since.
@@GhostlightProductions You guys need your names out. That ed-209 wasn't a easy project and you pulled it off fantasticly! From a hardcore Robocop fan I can say you guys nailed it!I mean they had to use a model in the original film with stop motion. You all did it in life size, full mechanics and with only a small need for green screen pants.Amazing!
@Ghostlight You need to try to get on the project for the new Robocop film. Its suppose to take place after the first film while ignoring everything afterwards.Your special effects skills will make it a great film I'm sure of it.CGI is over rated.Keep it old school brother but make worth everyone's attention. You guys can.Hell you got our attention.
I'm a special fx artist and making my first film, I gotta say as someone who loves practical fx you guys have inspired me so much! really great work! thank you!
NM-FX Thanks! We were inspired by the original filmmakers and many impressive DIY folks on UA-cam. Best of luck.

Thanks very much! Phil Tippet did tweet us, and we got to visit his studio to meet the original full-size ED-209 prop, which was quite a treat.
Increible, gracias por el esfuerzo y por compartir.
También es uno de mis filmes favoritos 👍😎
Watched this to the very end. Very cool. Love the passion behind the ED suit.

OMG the passion! you guys are great
@4:51: You can now add "kicked in the balls" to that list, sir.
I was disappointed when I saw the full RC remake and found it was all different stuff. Your ED-209 scene was the best part of it.
Thanks. There are some killer scenes in the whole remake. We made a few good friends from the filmmakers’ screening. Fatal Farm did an incredible one. And the last scene is perfect.
@@GhostlightProductions I agree. The Fatal farm one was really good as well.
Genius! I love how you go into all the finer details of how it was built and show the failures as well. Have a sub!

Thanks and cheers to you in Peru!
nice to see great new creative people
That's a pretty good ED-209 "puppet" costume/prop. Nice work!
This guy play ED-209 one time and is exhausted... Peller Weller played Robocop two entire films with the suit... ;)

Beautiful work! Just beautiful!
Massive credit to you guy's, that is a fantastic job you did :)
insane work, amazing result...
That would be one hell of a trick or treat session
The robot is extremely uncomfortable to wear. Someone helped hold up his chin between takes.

Outstanding! Adam savage would love this DIY build.

Glad you liked it! We only made this one scene. Every other scene was made by a different set of filmmakers and actors. Some really funny stuff!
Ooooh! That explains all the different styles used to make one movie! Haha! Superb! I love it!
Absolutely incredible
Original ED-209 is model animated. So you guys could be the first one doing this.
Best Cosplay EVER!!!!! Shut up and take my money!!!! Great work!
@connextro your comment is wrong. The comment about cosplay is a joke like a meme. Of course exist many fantastic cosplays and this is one of them.
you guys did an incredible job! hard work pays off !
Very kind, thank you.
PLEASE Do the CAIN Cyborg next. The scene where he invades the drug warehouse maybe.
