Ewers and Manning both threw 2 int’s in their scrimmage over the weekend and their defense, especially the back end at the 2nd and 3rd levels, are not as good as ours. You don’t hear anything about those guys struggling do we? Nope but one bowl game automatically has made people doubt JA’s ability to take care of the ball. JA will be fine and playing against what could be the best secondary in the SEC is only going to make him better. He is going to have to face the Bama’s of the world so working against ours now will only prepare him for later. Same with our OL. Our OL having to go up against our DL and LB’s? If our OL can at the very least get the run game going against our front we should be just fine by the time we need them to be rocking. That’s one difference I see that the Riley era didn’t have and that’s both sides going up against elite guys at every level and almost every position. That makes you better. Regardless, JA will be fine. They will scheme to put JA in the best position possible and what he excels at not what he struggles with. Seth will have him ready. I saw an SEC podcast that listed the top 10 defensive backs. Guess who was on their list? Key Lawerence and he lost his job at OU or he wouldn’t have transferred. That’s how good our secondary is.
Manning threw 1 and Ewers threw 0. JA threw picks...but let me guess it's cause OUs defense is the best in America. Those same dudes were ranked what 77 last year? I'd wait until some real football is played...
Consider this thought.. How much will an offense improve if thet are challenged by a (possibly) top ten, five...perhaps a number one defense each day at practice with said defense as your team mates...I remember scrimmages being VERY competitive and the taunts when they didn't go in your favor. Imagine how good that offense could look against a "lesser" defense. Game time will tell the taleand I believe in the program

Didn't hate on him, and the only reason I used the "Grinch type of corner" label is because Grinch liked recruiting the tall lengthy dudes at CB (Joshua Eaton and Latrell McCutchin come to mind). - PT

JJ is a straight DAWG!!! One of the Best Ive Coached. I pray he's healthy. If so I promise he will be in the Draft.
Glad to see the big guy get a chance for more playing time.
We gone see
I need to see this team be able to play zone coverage before Im sold. If we can do that, we'll have an elite defense!
Any video that isn't just 3 minutes of men in tights stretching beats the other practice video. Thumbs up for sure.
lmao

Thanks for the info, that’s good stuff!
Thank you guys

I hope we have a top 5 defense but playing the teams were gonna play im thinking more of a top 10.
walker will be very good if he can continue to build from last year. I felt that he really came on later in the year and made some great stops for us.

Thrilled that gentry was on the field today. Hope he can get through the season without that shoulder nagging him but idk how realistic that is.
Sadly, it’s highly likely to be an issue and he’ll be out for a large part of the season.
I think we should have Pettaway on our radar with the Gibson injury.
So much overreaction people thought gentry Williams gonna be out for the year and he was on the field today!!!
It is the same shoulder so it is a issue
It still isn't good that the shoulder is giving him trouble still though.
Issue yes out for the year. No not at this point in time@@RickyMcCoy-b8n
There are a lot of people, including people in his camp that thought it was potentially bad. So claiming overreaction is not necessarily on point.

I can’t wait to watch Bogo light somebody up during a kick off
Competitive Depth time for some guys to step up Go Sooners
Walker gave up play after play against Kansas in their winning drive
The people overreacting to the first scrimmage of the season are doing just that, overreacting!
Grinch corner? Bad take
Why isnt pettaway and B. Thompson being mentioned. They got plenty of speed
I think Thompson is the fastest guy on the team
pettaway is slow.

The fans don’t understand good defense and is why they freak out that the offense isn’t scoring at will. Fans still see OU as a defense that sucks
