It is important to have in mind that staying on inhabited islands implies respecting the strict Muslim norms (no alcohol, modest dress, reserved behavior). Also, be very clear on whether the price includes tax, service charges, credit card fees and airport transfers. Expect the arbitrary 10% Service Charge, 6-12% GST, $3 per person per night Green Tax and may be 3.5-4% extra if you need to pay with a credit card.
Tourist visa is granted for all nationalities on arrival to Maldives. The person must satisfy the following:
1. A passport/ travel document with Machine Readable Zone
2. A pre-paid hotel booking/accommodation
3. Confirmed onward/return tickets to home country or to country of residence
4. Traveller Declaration via IMUGA must be submitted electronically both travelling to and from Maldives, within 96 hours to the flight time
5. Sufficient funds to stay in Maldives
6. Entry facilities (e.g. VISA) to their onward destinations
7. Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, if applicable
