I find it funny how when the finalmouse mice are released they are overhyped af and become sold out immediately so you have to rely on scalpers who sell it to 3x price to get one, and once the hype dies down at least a dozen of new mice with same if not better specs and better price range release and people realize they aren’t worthy anymore. This has happened to all finalmice, the starlight 12 is just the new example
This won’t happen to the S12 because using Magnesium Alloy isn’t profitable at all. Finalmouse doesn’t make that much when they sell each mouse because that’s simply how hard and inefficient it is to manufacture the mice.
Yes, it's just the stages of capitalism today. Nintendo does this amazingly as well, first with Amiiboos making artificial scarcity and now even doing it with digitigal games that can be copied unlimited amount of times. The human fear of missing out is too strong so we will constantly be manipulated until these anti consumer practices are regulated.
After owning 8+ different mice the Starlight is my EndGame mouse. Side buttons are perfectly sized and the only downside for me is Finalmouse doesn't have their own Mouse software for custom DPI's . Originally ordered a small from their Drop and loved it so much I bought a medium off ebay for $280 .
"everyone will get one" I wouldn't hate this mouse so much if the company hadn't flat out lied to it's consumers. Can't wait for a different company to remake this thing better, cheaper, and with less ego.
dont think it's necessarily a lie, just wait for another drop and you will most likely get one. i managed to get a small very easily and on time, as time goes on more people will have a starlight so you will receive one too.
@@testval when did you try for one? The mouse should've launched at some specific time, at which I refreshed and went through the captchas like a madman. At whatever hour and 2 minutes I was in line, being done with the captchas, and got a waiting time of 7 minutes. The mouse sold out with 3 minutes left on my waiting time. On Twitter, people were saying their bots got the mouse a good 5 minutes before it launched, so clearly the mouse went live a bit earlier, and therefore fell right into the bots that were already refreshing the page an hour beforehand. It's just an insanely frustrating experience, first thinking 'do I actually need this mouse?' then 'am I fine with paying like 200$ for a goddamn mouse just to play games with?', deciding yes on both and finding yourself in the same position as if you were just trying to get some Nikes or Jordans. Everything's in drops now, or you have to pay scalper prices. Shoes, GPUs and here we have finalmouse doing the same thing for mice. It's just frustrating.
@@KurtKloetentreter the shop went live 2 mins earlier than expected but at that point i was already refreshing the page anyway, and i managed to order a small and do all the captchas no problem within like 10 minutes. It's honestly a matter if you want this mouse badly, you will get it if u just put effort in. And while yes, it can be comparable to nike and jordan drops for shoes, the difference is that the mice have same functionality, same weight, same size and everything. Only difference is design, so people are unlikely to get a new starlight 12 unless its for scalping purposes. An issue I saw was that the medium size was much more popular than the small, so unless you were aiming for a medium, you had a better chance of getting a small.
I tried going for the starlight, didn’t get one even tho i got into line right after it launched. Kind of frustrating, especially when you see all the others on twitter who also didn’t get one, and then some bots that got multiple for resell. I ended up getting a g303 shroud instead, and honestly it doesn’t feel like i should be giving finalmouse my money, when they force their customers to hypebeast levels of obsession
I bought one and honestly it’s not worth it to me, their qc really is as bad as people say. Mine has an uncentered scroll wheel even though they stated they’d fixed that, the right side panel isn’t flush to the base so when you grip it you feel that side move in, the clicks are getting mushier, the rear side button is loose and rattly and the scroll wheel sometimes scrolls down on its own. I did contact them and they sent me a prepaid label to ship it to them for repair but yea for how little amount they release and how they say they check them all this is pretty bad.
@@spades._. wow that must suck. Sending something in for repair is always somewhat of a slap in the face, considering you paid for something and now you have to wait for it to get repaired, but with something as scarce and hard to get as a finalmouse it's just so much worse. I got this one in the small size and I got the mouse of the gods Zeus in medium. I actually prefer the small size. I would say I have medium sized hands. Best mouse I’ve ever used by far. I probably own 15 plus and this one is by far the best. Nothing comes close imo.
I have the Starlight 12 small, and at first it bothered the hell out of me, I couldn't claw grip it. I then decided to switch to fingertip grip, and added grip tape to the sides. Also switched the stock skates to tiger ice. Holy crap, my aim has never been better. Took a couple weeks for the adjustment to fingertip, but I can't go back now
I got just got my small phantom and it makes my viper ultimate feel bloated and cheap. Hopefully more manufacturers go the magnesium route. I know G-wolves is doing it and I hope they succeed.
If they had a software to adjust debounce, DPI, and macro options then these mice would be on another level. Using corepads side grips and it really improves the feel for me, they were surprisingly thin but still really effective. Waiting for lethal gaming to release their glass skates for it.
I’m never going out of my way to track one of these down so it doesn’t exist as far as I’m concerned. Cool review though. If they ever sell them like normal I’d probably buy one. Or better yet if a competitor swoops in and does the same thing with similar or better quality then all the better. Razer, Corsair, Steelseries, Cooler Master, Logitech, Hyperx, Endgame, etc I hope they’re all watching this.
G wolves are making a magnesium alloy hati s I do believe so that should be a wireless competitor to the starlight 12 and if you fingertip grip g wolves is making a wireless fingertip mouse (hsk) that is supposed to weigh around 37 or 38 grams or somewhere around there. Also if you don't mind a wire there is the zaunkoenig M2K that is also fingertip only and weighs only 24 grams although the shape is not my favorite as it feels a little weird to me. I could go into detail about my opinion on the shape but the main thing that I don't like about the M2K shape is that it is slightly wider at the front and skinnier at the back.
I finally got my Starlight 12 phantom medium in the mail a few days ago and I like it. I don't like feeling the holes where I touch the mouse, it can feel a bit slippery and it does feel a bit small in my hands. Hopefully some grip tape will fix all of those issues a bit.
I have grip tape on my Starlight 12 small, and it has made me switch to fingertip grip, which I feel like this grip is giving me aimbot aim. I do feel the grips were necessary, I also recommend the tiger ice skates, makes it feel even faster to aim with
I didn’t have the same experience with the switches. They are HEAVY in my opinion. I love the mouse but the weight of the switches make it unusable for me. Using this in Path of Exile was exhausting. If you play games will lots of clicking and spam clicking I cannot recommend the mouse. It’s super nice for fps though.

Dont think we should follow finalmouse direction in them supplying low stocks and getting resold at insane prices. Theres a reason why Glorious Model O came out
That's a tall ask.I do think it will happen, but there's a shit ton of remolding that needs to be done and that's at least 5 million USD. Probably more. I can see maybe 30g of weight savings but not a whole lot more. That's about 80g which while it is an improvement is not 60g. Every 10g is very noticable.
hey ali, it seems my hands are similar to yours as our grips on the SL12 seem identical. I 100% agree about the sides needing to be solid not perforated! I would suggest you try putting some vinyl wrap instead of rubber grips on the side - I tried that tonight and it hugely improved the feel of the sides without adding any width or giving it a rubbery texture.
I'd say the G-wolves Skoll mini SKS Ace-edition is a good alternative as it weighs 48g and feels great with over a year or so sweating with it on fps's, downside for some will be that it isnt wireless
literally just don't eat hot cheetos while playing and the mouse qill be fine. I haven't used anything but honeycomb mice since the OG model O came out, and I've never seen trash accumulate inside the shell
Idk about u guys but when I pretend to grip a mouse and flick around, it feels like I could more so much faster and have more control. Then I grab my 50g weight, And instantly I feel some restraint in my movements. I feel like the best weight would be 0g but that’s impossible. Edit: 1:20“aiming feels more naturally” perfectly describes what less weight does. Aiming with a 0 gram mouse would be the most natural for our hand.
@@DuBstep115 I put grip tape on all my mice. So that’s not really a negative or a positive. I could never get a grip on my g pro wireless without it :)
Hi, thanks for the great in depth review. You are the first reviewer I have seen commenting on the input latency of this mouse. Could you please share the links to the input latency tests you showed?
Great and informative video, as always! Is there any chance you can test Logitech G603 click and sensor latency? Do you have a comparison table of mice you've tested available for public?
Got my phantom as well. I ended up being able to pick up the Hades in small on last drop, but it was just too small for me. I got a medium this time, and it's perfect. First time I have ever opened the mouse before since I had issues with one of the mylar pads on my left click. Redid it with aluminum tape and the mouse is amazing now. After opening it, I have a newfound respect for Finalmouse after seeing the construction of how everything is engineered. Even just the thickness of an extra layer of aluminum tape has the potential to completely make the mouse almost unusable with the clicks. Very impressed with the mouse and will be my end game for a very long time hopefully.
Can you really blame them? It would require new tooling which isn’t probably worth to them. Even logitech didn’t release a lefty superlight as it probably isn’t profitable.
Great video man! Did you not encounter problems with your scroll wheel being uncentered? I get some pretty inconsistent scrolls especially when weapon swapping
It's really frustrating seeing people with dozens of mice, while Finalmouse is claiming they have bot protections in place. At this point I don't know if I want any of their products anymore. I don't understand how they can milk their customers that much instead of doing a queue, like apple, or EVGA, where everyone can get one, eventually. Also I still don't understand how people are getting around the "1 per household" rule, it seems to not be enforced anywhere.
Would love to know your thoughts on the Pulsar X Lite wireless. I do think that sub 50g is too light and I found it inversely affected me, as it made my usual DPI feel too fast. Love the content as always man.
i will literally never use a mouse with holes again. i personally hate it. i know others don't and that's for them. if the trend is to go that low in weight i hope someone can do it without the holes but i doubt it. 60g is already insanely impressive
Felt that way too but tried mm720 and starlight, mm720 makes it barely noticeable and the starlight looked pretty awful at first for holes but it feels much better in hand. Can always get grip tape and cover the holes too.
But I agree that there shouldn’t be holes, on plastic mice it could even be making it heavier since they have to make the plastic thicker to compensate on the build quality
I put grip tape on everything so the honeycomb sides aren't a deal breaker. I wish they would have allowed the option for blank sides though. The design on the mouse buttons are a hard pass for me though.
only real thing that beats the M2K for the phantom is that it is wireless, also i might prefer the stiffer clicking surface compared to the carbon fiber clicks but not sure yet.
I was looking for a new mouse recently and this one really caught my eye. And while I would've bought one even for the very expensive price that these 'normally' have, they are now insanely expensive and go for 2-3 times more money. So I instead settled for a different mouse. But more importantly, are there any other mice with outlandish and amazing designs like this? The mouse I went for is still only okayish (Logitech MX Anywhere 3). I did some searching and this is literally the only mouse I found that makes me want it from aesthetic alone. Mouse design in general seems to be pretty bland and boring. Either edgy gamer-aesthetic designs or minimalist designs. Not classy stuff like this. The only reason I went for the Logitech mouse I got is because this one is not affordable anymore and nothing else looked as good to me, but it's still only like a 5.5/10 for me in terms of aesthetics.
I think we would all benefit from your Aim Training Routine if you were to make a video on it because you have extremely good mechanics when it comes to your aim
What are the chances Finalmouse releases firmware to improve click latency? That would require them to admit that their mouse is inferior to others in some way. Don't see that happening
I love the way it looks. Such a great, refreshing design! Too bad it's the wrong shape for my hand. These convex sided mice just don't work for my grip style.
I've seen slightly lower click latency numbers for the Starlight thus far, albeit just for the Omron version. Theoretically, if both the Kailh and Omrons are running at the same voltage, it would be possible for the Kailh to be more prone to double-clicking at that specific voltage and thus necessitating higher debounce, in turn resulting in higher click latency. If that were true, the Omron Starlight would be objectively better than the Kailh Starlight in terms of click latency.
Hey, I just watched an older video of yours on 1080p vs 1440p vs 4k monitors. Best advice I've watched but, you left out advice for console players. I'm having a really hard time making a decision for PS5. I do photo editing so I want the resolution but still want the 120fps that PS5 offers. Any help would be appreciated.
I have FM UL2 and it's great, but im sick of this hype/drops BS tbh. It's an expensive mouse, and yet you can't get it unless you're a bot or a nolifer who can F5 for hours to buy a mouse. Can't wait until the major brands get on par for small mice so FM can become irrelevant. Not having an EU dealer (it was MaxGaming for UL2) is also pants
the thing is that due to how small they are and the scope of their operations, FM will always stay 1 step ahead in terms of the ultralight weight mouse market
As a fingertip grip user, I found that I prefer mice in the 65g range. Anything lighter is too light for me because of one issue. Since fingertip users don't have their mice fully locked into their hand, pressing the side buttons on a mouse that's too light causes the entire mouse to move.
I have the glorious model O wireless which is about 60-70g and basically the exact same design. It's great for fps games but not so much for other types of games. Only having 2 additional buttons compared to other mice which have upwards of 4 these days makes it pretty ehh for MMOs and such. It also gets a lot of dust and such in it due to the holes in it and is kinda hard to clean.
@@coral5200 the sensor is lazy, and the battery life with the rgb is abysmal. It could be remedied by turning it off, but there's better mice without rgb. Also, was the only mouse I have where the left click would get stuck. Went back to the viper mini (not even my favorite mouse) and was again blessed with amazing sensor/click latency. If I had to use any glorified/ I mean, glorious mouse, I would choose a wired version.
Would love to own one, but I don't want to spend so much on the inflated price. Plus even if I do buy one what guarantee do I have that Finalmouse will help me if it messes up?
i'd recomend the hati-s as a mouse to grab its 60g wireless and shaped like the viper mini ( although gwolves are starting to act like FM with small volume drops)

definitely an interesting experience watching this again in 2023 with an optimum zeromouse in hand :D
The only issue is it costs so much it doesn't seem worth it. There are so many better alternatives for a MUCH cheaper price.
The problem is, that you can’t buy it
@@m1iles a viper mini is 60g and i really feel like for 30$ thats a steal.
the thing is, it is in a league of its own, so there isn't an 'alternative' to this, but I understand that there are many mice out there that is cheaper and more worthwhile
@@Arissi unfortunately on the viper mini, the scroll wheel...when you scroll down, it occasionally sends a scroll up signal, and vice versa. i really don't want this happening in my games, and it's fucking annoying on Discord.
until more magnesium mice becomes mainstream, I see the justification for the price for this mouse
Dont think we should follow finalmouse direction in them supplying low stocks and getting resold at insane prices. Theres a reason why Glorious Model O came out
I mean they are being sold for 210 ish. which after fees and all leave the reseller barely making their money back
Have been waiting for one for so long TY
the second the "G502 Light(er)" edition is available is the second I hop on lightweight mice. You can do it Logitech!
I wish there were silent ones of the same quality. To me clicking of any kind is bit annoying. Another great video, love your dedication !
hey ali, it seems my hands are similar to yours as our grips on the SL12 seem identical. I 100% agree about the sides needing to be solid not perforated! I would suggest you try putting some vinyl wrap instead of rubber grips on the side - I tried that tonight and it hugely improved the feel of the sides without adding any width or giving it a rubbery texture.
DPI DEVIATION
Mention it please. It's been an issue since the Cape town and nobody is talking about it.
I'd say the G-wolves Skoll mini SKS Ace-edition is a good alternative as it weighs 48g and feels great with over a year or so sweating with it on fps's, downside for some will be that it isnt wireless
I can already see the strugle to clean all those holes. It's a mouse. It will get dirty.
true, one of the reasons why i will never buy a honeycomb mice
i have UL2, it doesnt. Just wash your greasy hands
literally just don't eat hot cheetos while playing and the mouse qill be fine. I haven't used anything but honeycomb mice since the OG model O came out, and I've never seen trash accumulate inside the shell
5:28 and 5:38 oh my goodness absolutely violated those players
sheeesh
Idk about u guys but when I pretend to grip a mouse and flick around, it feels like I could more so much faster and have more control. Then I grab my 50g weight, And instantly I feel some restraint in my movements. I feel like the best weight would be 0g but that’s impossible.
Edit: 1:20“aiming feels more naturally” perfectly describes what less weight does. Aiming with a 0 gram mouse would be the most natural for our hand.
Grip tape made a world of difference for mine. Great review as always!
Imagine paying 200 for mice and using grip tape
@@DuBstep115 I put grip tape on all my mice. So that’s not really a negative or a positive. I could never get a grip on my g pro wireless without it :)
Me who has a $5 "gaming" mouse that probably weighs more than a G502: interesting
Hi, thanks for the great in depth review. You are the first reviewer I have seen commenting on the input latency of this mouse. Could you please share the links to the input latency tests you showed?
i bought a starlight pro hopefully the qc is better
If only I would have known this was coming out. I just bought a GPRO x superlight yesterday so I am now stuck with it but I freaking love the mouse
Don’t worry, unless you want to pay scalper prices of $350-$500 you wouldn’t be able to get one even if you wanted to lol
I'm personally a heavy mouse boi and also a mega high dpi user like 7500dpi. But I must respect how far these mice go.
Hoe the tf do you even use 7500 dpi ?
@@Definitely_Melnyx very precisely I guess XD I think i move my mouse maybe a inch max. But hey my accuracy doesn't complain
Great and informative video, as always! Is there any chance you can test Logitech G603 click and sensor latency? Do you have a comparison table of mice you've tested available for public?
can we just appreciate how good he is at apex
Are you selling the small finalmouse? The medium ones are actually too big for my hands
@@xerenityapexlegends3940 I already sold the small hades unfortunately. Sorry
I wish companies would make some mice fit the left-handers. Since the original G Pro wireless, no one really has.
Can you really blame them? It would require new tooling which isn’t probably worth to them. Even logitech didn’t release a lefty superlight as it probably isn’t profitable.
Actually just bought it and loving it!
Great video man! Did you not encounter problems with your scroll wheel being uncentered? I get some pretty inconsistent scrolls especially when weapon swapping
yea mine does this weird thing where it will sometimes activate as a downward scroll while i am scrolling up
@@peaches1592 yeah same here, pretty annoying when weapon swapping in a tight situation
1:00 Super glad I didn't waste my money on this mouse if it's that small even in the biggest size available!
Can't wait what new mouse looks like In 2022
Thanks for the review. Looking forward to buy it.. oh wait.. i can't.
You are too good at everything
I have question have u had any problems with the dpi button, for me at least it feels very stiff. Great review btw
i will literally never use a mouse with holes again. i personally hate it. i know others don't and that's for them. if the trend is to go that low in weight i hope someone can do it without the holes but i doubt it.
The design on the mouse buttons are a hard pass for me though.
you can put grip tape on the mouse buttons so you won’t feel the designs. Also the you can barely feel the design on your fingertips while you play
I got the M phantom too. After using the M2K the SL feels heavy ngl.
only real thing that beats the M2K for the phantom is that it is wireless, also i might prefer the stiffer clicking surface compared to the carbon fiber clicks but not sure yet.
The only reason I went for the Logitech mouse I got is because this one is not affordable anymore and nothing else looked as good to me, but it's still only like a 5.5/10 for me in terms of aesthetics.
can u do review on finalmouse ultralight x?
I think we would all benefit from your Aim Training Routine if you were to make a video on it because you have extremely good mechanics when it comes to your aim
Are you going to go back to the G303?
bought mine 3 weeks ago and just added some BTL grips. Actually like it very much. TenZ BatChest
kinda surprised Logitech and Razer hasn't created a 50g plastic mouse. If gwolves and cooler master can do it then should be do-able.
Nice review and it seems amazing but I’m probably not the only one still waiting to experience their first Finalmouse. It’s not for lack of trying…
A thick grip tape that could change grip style sounds super interesting
and here I am, adding all the weights into my G502 Lightspeed mouse
sl12 is the best mouse no questions. had mine for about 2 weeks and this shit is so far ahead of anything else you can buy. it isnt even close
optimum, u need upgrade firmware (v1.2.6 to update 0 debounce) grip tape and also infinity mice hump and this maybe your new main :)
Hope you got the Ultralight X before it sold out (if you're even interested). That one weighs like 35 grams. It's wild.
5:37 no one gonna talk about that wingman shot?
Until finalmouse changes their business tactics they won't even be on a consideration list for me.
Great review
Great video. I wish you could test out the click latency on the the newer hati s wireless with the 3370
What are the chances Finalmouse releases firmware to improve click latency? That would require them to admit that their mouse is inferior to others in some way. Don't see that happening
how is updating your mouse unlike finalmouse? the phantom has many updates from the first drop
guys you know you can do the OG mode you dont need to buy a new mouse just drill holes in your mouse and call it a day :>
I love the way it looks.
Good to see you here pzogel. Keep up the great work
@@FearlessP4P1 Thanks!
there's already a more accessible 50gm wireless option out there with shape similar to viper mini, its called the atlantis mini
Yo those Apex beams were kind of clean.
Reviews on products that we can actually buy would be preferred. Thanks
Not having an EU dealer (it was MaxGaming for UL2) is also pants
the thing is that due to how small they are and the scope of their operations, FM will always stay 1 step ahead in terms of the ultralight weight mouse market
them saucy wingman shots 🌞
As a fingertip grip user, I found that I prefer mice in the 65g range. Anything lighter is too light for me because of one issue. Since fingertip users don't have their mice fully locked into their hand, pressing the side buttons on a mouse that's too light causes the entire mouse to move.
Really? I use a 24g mouse in fingertip and It has never felt better
@@lnbabz Do you use side buttons in-game though?
@@lnbabz The lighter the better for fingertip imo he's just built different I guess
@@lnbabz 24g? What mouse is that?
@@MrBenderrrr He's probably using the Zaunkoenig M2K
do you have any sensor latency test results of this mouse were just really curious about it
The reason why the scroll wheel is not in the middle, because the plastic wheel was not in symmetry calculated after the heating process.
Get rid of it.
@@firellio070 lmao why
@@coral5200 it's actually a booboo mouse.
@@firellio070 how so?
@@coral5200 the sensor is lazy, and the battery life with the rgb is abysmal. It could be remedied by turning it off, but there's better mice without rgb. Also, was the only mouse I have where the left click would get stuck. Went back to the viper mini (not even my favorite mouse) and was again blessed with amazing sensor/click latency. If I had to use any glorified/ I mean, glorious mouse, I would choose a wired version.
Would love to own one, but I don't want to spend so much on the inflated price. Plus even if I do buy one what guarantee do I have that Finalmouse will help me if it messes up?
i'd recomend the hati-s as a mouse to grab its 60g wireless and shaped like the viper mini ( although gwolves are starting to act like FM with small volume drops)
i rember 😁 when gwolves used to be our response to fm abusive prices and drops
@@dasch0und isn't that the truth, I feel gwolves needs to stop doing colourwaves and just keep mice in-stock, although there new magnesium alloy mouse might be a purchase if I can get one 😂
@@erisium6988 have the hati-s wirelss ace. and no qc issues at all. one of my favorite mice ever so far
Idk how anyone can argue a mouse that is lighter isn't better on paper because its just physics lighter will make it more efficient in almost everyway
I like heavy mouses. I don't understand who should buy this one. And the price is so high like it would have integrated gpu 😂
Happy new Year 😉
How does it compare to the Gwolves hati s? It looks like a longer version of that but ive never tried it. Just going based off pics/dimensions.
Damn bro, how do you keep your Artisan mousepad so clean? I use a lint roller pretty often and it still gets a lot of little white hairs on it.
Maybe he washes it before a video. He also does own quite a few Artisan pads, so I wonder if he places a fresh one he hasn't been using on his desk while filming
@@haydn6462 that's a good point. I never really thought of that.
While this is a decent review thanks for your time and efforts. I have a couple of questions. How long does the charge last? How long does it take to charge? How does it communicate with your PC? Does it use software? Can you play with it connected by cable? What is the cable like? What is Final Mouse customer service like? Thanks if you get back to me. Cheers.
lol 6:20 we see that off center wheel lol... what mousepad you like with a sub 50 gram mouse?
There's been many reports about poor QC with finalmouse, so considering the price I'll stick with the Superlight for the time being
Hey what about you test the Leap motion as input device? That's no mouse at all, only your hand as input. Curious to see what that will do for you.
Hey, what skates are you using for you g-pro superlight ?
Final Mouse - for fuck yeah i FINALLY got it!
Personally, I like the SL-12 a lot. This is not your best bang for buck mouse. This is a luxury mouse, for the enthusiasts or collectors. Understand that it may not be for everyone and in the end, it is all preferences especially when it comes to shape.
You gotta review the new gaming monitors when they come out.
3:30 what about the dpi button because mine is super hard to press in
