I think by 'advanced java' you refer to J2EE. Or java enterprise edition. I am not sure if thats even relevant these days. Spring boot and similar frameworks have taken over. Short answer, No. I don't think J2EE is relevant for android or even for server side for that matter.
It can when you slowly start spending more time writing android apps. A couple of times, you will have to jump into generated byte code, figure out performance problems etc. Knowing java helps a lot.

If you just want to build apps, kotlin is enough.
