- I was alerted to this Ian Brown performance by one of you, so thank you! Ian Brown has been lambasted by fans because they turned up to his show and he didn't even have a band on stage with him. Some claimed it was just like watching karaoke! What do you think? Would you expect a live band when you're going to see your favourite singer perform, or do you care? Does it even matter? Tell me!

Met Ian many years ago before a gig. He was really polite/genuine.
Went to one of the Stone Roses' comeback gigs at Finsbury Park about 10 years ago. The band was great and you couldn't hear Ian Brown singing over the crowd. It was great. 10/10
Lol.
I went to the manny gigs and can confirm that the crowds vocals...and guitar parts tbh...were off the charts
@@tomwilko7841 Reni is always great to watch
Hahaha I was there too, and always describe it exactly like that! Couldn't hear him at all over the crowd but it was one of the best gigs!!!
The Friday was so good I went back on Saturday and bought tickets off a tout.
What a performance. He should get DJ Khalid to play guitar for him. What a duo they would make, though he’d have to also replace the existing laptop guy to fit in the Robin Reliant.
Keep up the good work Mr Hawkins, you never fail to make me laugh x
That's the best live singing I've ever heard Ian Brown do. To be fair.
I think he should do the next gig acapella. Then everyone will be talking about how great the Leeds gig was in retrospect.
When i saw the title i was hoping that’s what it meant😂
Hahaha Brilliant 👏
Ha
😂😂😂
First glance I read that as "alopecia" 🤣
Someone wrote: "It's like someones drunk grandad being pushed onto a stage."
This reminds me of a Lindsey Buckingham gig I saw quite a few years ago. He played at a local venue as a solo artist one year and he had a brilliant band. My buddy and I went and had a brilliant time. So a few years later I see that he is again returning to our local venue as a solo act and I immediately called my friend. Granted the tickets to this gig were obscenely expensive ...I think they were $80 ... but we remembered how good the previous show was so we didn't bat an eye at the cost. Doors were at 7:30 no supporting act and the show started at 9:00 sharp. We arrive at exactly 7:30 grab a drink and scope out our seats. Not as good as the previous show but it isn't a huge venue so we're not bothered. We chat, we sip our drinks and we reminisce over the last show in anticipation of another brilliant evening!
9:00 sharp the house lights go out and as the curtains slowly open music starts to play and the stage lights come up on a completely empty stage. No wait there is a single microphone stand center stage with a guitar chord hanging off of it. Lindsey Buckingham walks on stage snaps his guitar cable into his guitar and begins to play and sing along with the backing track. I can't tell if he is really playing because I heard guitar before he plugged in and I certainly don't hear MORE guitar now that he is in fact ... plugged in. There is a guitar solo and I'm pretty sure he played it. And of course he is singing ... no question about that. He's very brief between songs ... not so much as even a "It's great to be back to the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom!" or anything. He plays a few hits ... because he's got some. He shades his brow and salutes us, says "Thank you very much!" unplugs his guitar and walks off stage. I look at my phone 9:40. I turn to my friend and smile and say "Surely this is an intermission! He'll be back!" people are still clapping and I halfheartedly say "Maybe he will play a 30 minute encore?" The house lights come back up. I hopefully look towards the bar thinking we could get another drink during intermission but all the bars around the venue are dark, closed ... I glance towards the exit doors and they are illuminated and all wide open. Finally the house announcements come up thanking us for coming out and inviting us back for another great show at the historic Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom! 😳
The Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom's capacity is 2,200 x $80 = $176,000 ... that means Lindsay Buckingham makes $4,400 a minute! There were no LED lights on the stage and I assume the house set up the mic stand. Who knows Lindsey himself probably hit play on the cassette deck back stage before waltzing on to sing along with his "Greatest Hits!" So I don't think he had a road manager or any tech crew with him for support ... so I'm sure he made all the money.
Lindsey Buckingham makes Ian Brown seem like the hardest working bloke in Rock and Roll! 😂
Wow
I would've thought Lindsey Buckingham had more self respect than that.
You are shitting me! That's obscene. He spends more time whining about Stevie on a Friday night.
@@awookieandagerman he is still bitter about wasting all that time on "What's Up With That?"
At least you got to see him. 3 times I have had tickets for a show that hasn't happened.
2011, European tour cancelled, May 2022 European tour rescheduled as he had Covid, and this weeks concert in Glasgow cancelled the day before as he was unwell.
Lindsay has more talent in his big toe than brown has in his entire body
Ian does a great Frank Sidebottom impersonation.
I saw Ian Brown live at a festival he came on said all the other bands were shit. Implied I should be grateful for his presence. He then went on to do the worst set I’ve ever seen.
ha, classic Ian...
I once fell out of a window. Still better than Ian Brown.
@@frankblunt2482 😂Brilliant!!!
@MADCHESTER UTD cute mate, cute
@MADCHESTER UTD Just a pity he sang them really.
Your calculations of him keeping his overheads down and singing "La La La La" into the mic was hilarious! I thought the same thing too, he's morphed into Bez....PS: I love your Cult t-shirt!
Saw him in Manchester a few days ago. It was amazing and I could tell Ian was loving it himself, was mint.
I honestly cannot fathom why Justin isn't on TV with this kind of content. I don't know how much he's making from the UA-cams, but it isn't enough. He's a national treasure.
He'd be brilliant fronting a revival of Old Grey Whistle or similar, plus this kind of analysis.
No one watches TV anymore
Good question! There's no doubting his talent but to me he should be way beyond critiquing other artists on UA-cam. He should be headlining again but easier said than done....
Mock Rock there from Ian Brown.
TV? thats for c grade comedians entertaining life dead people.
I agree, I think there's such a gap for music programming on TV now and this kind of format would be wonderful. Think the problem though is people simply don't discover music or music related news by watching TV like they used to, it's a massive shame.
“ Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated” said Johnny Rotten to the crowd on the last leg of a US tour.
At the risk of being awkward, you are single handedly changing my mind about the suitability of English men for me. Thank you.
Only Ian Brown could pull this off , Legend !!!!
He’s a rip-off merchant. But if you wanna give him money…batter in pal.

great episode. I really enjoyed the part where you were going like "Na-na Na-nan na naaaa". That was my favorite part.
Saw him once, weirdly supporting the Manic Street Preachers. I was aware of his hit and miss performances but he and his band, that night, were fabulous.
Justin not only do you play a mean guitar, you are a financial genius!
Can't get better than this combo.
I like stone roses but would not go to this type of show lol!

With Aziz Ibrahim playing air guitar.
It’s ironic that in his opening song a lyric is ‘ I am the greatest show on earth ‘ . !! It’s crazy he went this way about things .
😂
I've never once bought a ticket to see "Ian Browns Band'.
Love how Justin can’t hide his contempt for Ian Brown 👌😂
First of all you were exceptionally fabulous at Taylor’s tribute ❤
Almost fell out my chair laughing on this one!
This is incredible sarcastic comedy. 😂😂
Pishing myself. My favourite video on the channel.
I’ve given up my ticket for the London gig this week. What’s criminal, is that his solo bands of the past, with Aziz Ibrahim, were brilliant. Worth the money on their own.
I saw him supporting manic street preachers in about 2003, the band he had were top quality and Aziz is such a good guitarist.
Aziz is playing pub floors atm. For free I believe
I’ve met Ian a couple of times whilst he was rehearsing with the stone roses for the Heaton park gigs then a few years later for the etihaad gigs at a place in our area that does stages and lighting. He was the most attentive and talkative of the whole band and even remembered my name after only meeting for a few moments. He’s one of life’s good guys but with all this said …. You just have to have a band of some description I believe. I find it really surprising that he’s gone down this road with his act
I have a lot of brown gig from Edinburgh. It was a 1 man show & after £1,200 for the venue for 6 hours £ £1,300 security he pocketed £120,000.
He had 1 personal security guy & 1 guy playing his laptop backing tunes.
He did the O2 tour so he doesn't pay management costs they give him 20 days to pick 15 of their venues in the UK cheap.
Barrowlands Glasgow is £2,000 to hire + security.
It was money nothing else.

I went to the Ian Brown gig Nottingham, 6th October 2022, not expecting much after the reviews in the press. It was one of the best gigs I've been to in years!! Never trust reviews in the press, a bad review gets them much more attention then an honest review!!!!
I was at Rock City. It rocked.
I went to see him, loved it..
His voice actually sounds better than it used to lol. And I respect him going out there with no band to make him look cool. Just him, and a mic. Doing Ian Brown, and if you like it, then join in.
Agree
Were people made aware the gig/tour was going to be like this before it started? I'd feel pretty ripped off if I turned up expecting a band and got this.
Exactly lol all the people pissed off went expecting a stone roses set probably, not knowing that the majority of Ian Browns solo stuff is electronic so a band would make no sense.
to make him look cool? To make more money more like. He's a legend but personally I would rather have a live band there.
