We try to have hotel bedroom picnics with groceries at least once in a trip to cut costs and go easier on our waistlines. Rick Steves also has good budget travel tips. Good video here.
I like to meal plan a meal or two for when we return from vacation so we aren’t tempted to grab fast food one more time because there’s nothing to eat at home. It can be as simple as frozen pizzas or canned soup and crackers. Even yogurt and apples in the fridge will keep through a couple weeks of vacation.
Food can definitely add up since it’s such a variable expense. One hack my family uses is to not eat out for every meal (usually have airbnbs with kitchens) or in the absence of a kitchen, eat cheap/local and have one pricier meal per day (usually dinner) for the “must go” eateries. Don’t deprive yourself, but know which meals don’t need to be a big deal (like breakfast) and can be had at a small cafe.
Great video! Hotwire is just like Priceline express deals too. Some amazing deals for our family . And you can see what hotel the last person got. Learning so much from your channel- thank you George and Rachel
I use business/upper class when I travel overseas. The savings are great but is well above economy. At the age of 62 and retired I feel there are a few things I will spend money on. Domestically I travel Economy.
YES, u should publish a how to save on life book; put all your travel hacks, ur grocery shopping& gas or bills $ cutting tips from your videos in it;& THEN have Rachael publish an affordable cooking book with all the meals under $20& George’s $4 meal plans! THOSE would be books id gift to all my friends
I use the cheaper flights and have kids so we all take our carryon. It hasn't failed yet that they offer to waive the baggage fee because flight is full. We do it everytime
Rachel and George, thank you for the information . One question, there aren’t any Costco’s in my area, is the travel program available to only Costco members?
I love to plan trips, all the details 😍 are there. The best pizza in Rome, the amazing fall farmers market in Greve, the once a year viewing of the ornate tile floors in a cathedral in Siena were all things that we were able to do and much more by doing the research and planning for a 6 week vacation in Italy. We did airbnb, trains, busses, trolleys, and water taxis, we even rented a car for a drive through Tuscany. By doing our research we were able to get into many museums on a timed reservation at a reasonable price, that would not have been possible to do at the time we were there. They book out months in advance. We are now beginning the research for a safari in South Africa Kruger national park, as well as touring the rest of South Africa as well. Again a 4-6 week vacation. With the cost of airfare, our thought is see everything you can on 1 trip.
No Airbnb and vrbo. They make it very challenging to get your money back if the place you are expecting doesn’t meet the photos and is a dump. We were on the phone for hours to get our money back from a horrible Airbnb in DC. The host of the Airbnb has to approve giving you the refund. After we had been traveling for hours with two kids. Nightmare. Hotels are much better and accommodating.
Hmm.....travel hacks. There's a HUGE business sector that caters to this very topic, and being able to travel for FREE simply by using your normal spending. But Papa Dave Ramsey hates these businesses, so they cannot be mentioned (travel credit cards).
Sorry, just shocked how hard George is pushing Costco Travel....they have bad customer service after you book!! Love the show and not trying to complain, just a personal experience
Are you insane? Chris Hogan was dreadful. Spoke in platitudes and didn’t listen to the callers at all. Camel is a fantastic speaker and if he got a little more aggressive he’d be the closest to Dave’s replacement out of all the Ramsey personalities

There are some amazing deals to be had. Thanks for sharing them with us!
One of my favorite segments! You guys have great chemistry, I honestly laughed out loud on the train.
Are you a gif or a jif? 😅

Please keep having George on! I love his tips on saving money!
I’m with George-I love BEING HOME 😌 until I’m traveling, then I love it 😊
Loved this episode! Suggestion: Turo is the Airbnb of rental cars, so you can find an inexpensive rental that way!

Yesss, travel hacks. Thank you Rachel and George for these information tips. I'm definitely taking notes and downloading on my phone. Thanks 😊 🙏
Yessss, travel agency you two!!! You two are AWESOME!!!
This was such a needed video for many of us, and you both brought great joy and enthusiasm to the world of traveling. Thanks😄

It was very affirming to hear these tips. I have been using these for the past 3 years! Thanks for addressing these issues.
If you are reading this right now, I wish you the most ABUNDANT year of your life!
We bring only a carryon. We buy some groceries to eat at hotel. At airport, we eat at less costly like WhataBurger.
Great episode!

The savings are great but is well above economy.
At the age of 62 and retired I feel there are a few things I will spend money on.
Domestically I travel Economy.
Love Gasbuddy!! I will literally drive further for the cheapest gas. 😆 And I'm with you George, it's pronounced "verbo" VRBO. 😁
We booked our trip to Europe with Costco Travel. It was great.
I saw Frills and Drills talk about Hopper, but what they do didn't really click to me until I saw you guys also explain it in this video.
I already knew every travel tip they gave but still great information.
I need a segment on how to pack carry-on only 😂😂
This is awesome, thank you George and Rachel!

Adorable pair 💕🌻
I want that little couch

I love Hopper! But I just use the free features.
I approve of your travel agents business, not that you need my approval lol. You guys are great! Thanks for all the great tips!

Rachel is dope! Keep it up girl!
My dad and I save money by traveling with other family members and using a TA.
Love your loyalty 💛❤️💙
Didn’t know George was from Boston 😂
Great tips thanks 😅

Travel points sucks anyways. Use normal points and that cash towards a better ticket
Okay, I'm a single senior woman with no one that's retired to go with. I want to feel safe. I wouldn't go to Mexico or out of country. ??
My travel hack is I work for a hotel so my rates are 80% less to stay.
Interesting and informative conversation, but it was hard to watch at times, as Rachel and her guest kept interrupting/talking over one another. 😕
I searched for this episode and watched it again because I couldn't remember google flight.
Rachel can you come and sleep train my baby!? She’s 15 months and I am one exhausted mama!! We are in Australia so free travel guide too! 😉
Best travel hack play videogames i can travel anywhere in time and space without leaving my home or spending money.
Does George have swag? I'd buy a shirt with his face on it.
Sorry, just shocked how hard George is pushing Costco Travel....they have bad customer service after you book!! Love the show and not trying to complain, just a personal experience
Can someone explain who exactly is George
Love you guys but there are so many better travel hacks. You didn’t talk about home exchange, mind my house, or Couchsurfing. These are travel hacks.
Omg. Constantly talking over each other. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Chris Hogan > this guy

How is she coming up with all those beta males ?
