OMG! I remember watching this 3 years ago! It was an inspiration for me and my friends to replicate the journal ourselves! Actually it was a really bad experience(they were really toxic friends, I wanted to add some creatures of my own invention, but they wouldn’t let me, even though they did add some of their own, and besides, they did nothing, I was the only one creative and with the abilities to do this, but they were always telling me what to do, and how to do it, and they never gave a break from doing that journal, there not my friends anymore though). But it was fun to remember those times, because I can see how much I’ve grown as a person, by seeing how now I have friends who really support me and friends who actually care for me :)

This is amazing, but in the episode about the Stan twin's backstory, Ford can be seen putting a peace of foil for the hand, and not wood. Other than that, this is probably the best handmade version out there.
Def wouldn’t be anywhere near as cool though.

I was so amazed , im also a big fan of gravity falls and I loved it a lot, i wish i could have that maybe journal 3 also it was very good even if it didnt have invisible ink written, honestly it was fantastic keep up the good work, i rrally wish to have that👍👍👍
I’d buy a red book with the amount of pages needed, dip all the pages in that colouring stuff and then just get to work.
uh huh, and after putting them in that "coloring stuff" youd find all the pages extremly heavy and tear off.

Actual bookbinding requires a great deal of time. I've seen the process, and since it's normally done with a machine, doesn't seem that hard. By hand, however, is a different story.

You can actually make this. I just printed the sheets and then went to a bookstore and they ringed them. Then you just had to draw some details on it, and thats all. It doesnt actually look like the real one, but its fine to me.
Let me just say, this prop is awesome. The fact that you took the time to hand-stitch all the pages together is breathtaking.

The pages have to be either photocopies or printed in a laser printer, since both use toner instead of ink the images won't smear with water.

Then he antiqued the paper
How To Make Antique Paper
Step 1. Crumble paper and flatten it out
Step 2. Preheat oven to lowest temp.
Step 3. Put paper on backing sheet
Step 4. Pour coffee over the paper
Step 5. Bake for 2-5 min.
Your done!

I thought of making 3 books, but when i made this the few pages i had from the tv show were so few that i made the pages from journals 1, 2 and 3 and put them all in the same book so it would be thicker. So that book has all 3 journals in one.

I have a question. Whenever you put that wood and cut it, did you make it from a certain Piece of wood or did you have to use any kind of wood?! My brother is arguing with me that is had to be a certain kind of order wood. I honestly don't know about all that.

I'm Random I used MDF but it could be any wood that is sturdy enough dor the covers. And for the hand it really can be anything enlven cardboard.

Hey i have quick question. What sized paper did you use for the booklet pages and the Bill Cipher pages? Sorry but you didn't specify in your posts.
the pages are "folio" size of 8 1⁄2 by 13 1⁄2 inches (215.9 mm × 342.9 mm) and i print 4 pages per sheet of paper like this: 2porcel.com/downloads/how-to-assemble.jpg

I have a question. I printed all the pages but I dont quite understand how to assemble them. In the tutorial you provided in your tumblr, you said we should assemble 4 sheets at time but they dont quite fit together. Pages 86 and 87 dont match together....
Well, there are many ways in which the assemble process might go wrong... The first thing I would check since i have made the mistake many times is if the 4 signatures are in the right order and if they are not backwards since i usually take the page out of the printer and fold it the wrong way. so they are almost on the right place but don't quite fit. I Thinks that is my most common mistake but asides from that I could't really tell you whats the exact mistake without looking at all the pages, sorry =(

There is a Problem. I did it but from the Page vol 3 its all wrong. The Gnome Page (example) is cut in two. I mean, the 1st Part of the Page is on the Right side and the 2nd is on the left side of the NEXT page. I know the mistake: the vol 3 Page Needed to be on the LEFT side and on the Right side, the property of Page. But that Page isnt there so it make all the Pages rotate 1 Space backwards. Please fix this.

I actually had a really freaky dream about finding one of the journals in Oregon. Not long after, the sky opened like in Weirdmageddon, everything went white and there were screams of pain coming from every direction. And then I woke up.

The easy way would be to order it over amazon, there's quite a wide variety of leather over there. I'm not sure about the price since those particular items don't ship to where I live so i never bought any, had to search IRL. Where I live, and I guess anywhere, there´s actually quite a few shops to buy leather for making purses and handbags. When I started looking for leather I just said "i want leather for covering books" and they just looked confused... but then i just told them i wanted to make a purse (or a bag) it went much better.

Hello! thanks for the links. I wish I had something like that when I started with the book. Would have saved a lot of time haha.
I will take a look at the gnome page. I used the alternate art for my "Super Evil Gnome" page, but I might do another version of the original page since even the title was different, so it KINDA is a different page.
Regarding the other pages, I was thinking of adding the one with all the monsters coming together on the theory of weirdness, but no the rest, I have tried to only make the pages and things only on the show, nothing from the official book or the comics. Just keeping it as un-official as possible.
And after watching the videos, I think I will start watching the show yet again...
