- Legendary window dresser Simon Doonan, who has a new book out, Drag, and is currently a judge on NBC’s Making It, and his husband, potter and furniture designer Jonathan Adler, open the door to their elegant, fantasy-filled apartment that serves up treats from their imaginations.
"Paranoia and surrealism all mixed into a lethal combination." Definitely the ideal moods for a bedroom.
This but un-ironically lol. I’m obsessed with the porcelain dog too. If you don’t have a few bad taste scary objects in your house are you doing? I fully endorse living in a movie at all times if you can.

Perfection. Must be so much fun to live in this place. And to be quite frank it all looks achievable. One could fake the eyes, mirror stuff, get simple graphic posters, decoupage an old piece of furniture. It really isn't about the expensive stuff, it's about having fun, mixing silly things but not allowing them to take over the apartment but curating them. Love this so much!
Yes, Designing, That's an Art form unto itself, Objects color and form complement or contrast and they do not need to cost an arm and a leg to look the way you want whether ritzy, shabby chic, industrial Etc...

It's everything I try to incorporate into my own home, as an artist ~ playfulness, lightness of being, the visual vocabulary of surrealism, the lambdawatusi of one's own inner visionary spirit projected outward as a nurturing environment of laughter, endless inspiration, flux & creativity ✨

Oh the irony that Jonathan Adler's pottery pieces (or copycats) are displayed in so many minimalist neutral interior design snapshots, but he decorates with color and whimsy. I love it!

Amazing! Loved Simon Doonan's book "Beautiful People" - and the fabulous, enthralling and magic BBC adaptation of it, and after watching this clip, I kind of get it, a look that combines elements of camp, luciousness, sultry decor, a childlike quality, mischief, cheapness, beauty and luxury. In equal amounts. Grand!
When I connected the name and the accent I wondered if this was the guy that the beebs beautiful people was based on. I feel like that was a show that I felt some connection to as a queer teen, especially compared to all the dour dramatic LGBT media at the time. But people don't seem to remember or reference it much compared to other older gay media.
Jonathan has the BEST smile! And I love Simon's energy. I hope they are doing well and stay safe during this difficult period!

This place is FABULOUS .
There is so much glamour and Chic style in this home. From all of the eyes watching you from every direction: to the contrast of color from one apt. To the next. This home Is fun, light and airy. With a drip of drama and high art. My fave piece is the lady in the blue dress in their bedroom.. It's perfect!
These are two legends under one roof ! This home is bursting with awesome! Jonathan Adler is definitely one of my favorite designers who consistently inspires me creatively!! Simon is an all-around amazing human being who defines the word Fabulous!! While these icons live in a very pretentious world of fame and fashion rubbing elbows with the upper Echelon but still manages to keep a sense of humor never taking themselves to seriously!

We can’t all be the same THANK GOD.
To each their own, some people like rustic, some modern, some people like minimalism and others feel good with some organized chaos/clutter.
Despite my personal preferences however I’d never refer to someone’s home that they love and worked hard on as looking like garbage.
Maybe your comment is intended to change paradigms and enlighten the world?
I mean, with your stunning acuity with words some people who merely disliked it can now pinpoint WHY. Maybe they watched this and thought ‘gee whiz, I think I’ll barf!’ but the cause was elusive, thank Gaia you’re here to clarify the vulgarity of their dwelling, lest the viewer get lost in trying to discern what about it is so trashy 🙏🏻

What an incredible, beautiful apartment and wonderful to see such amazing people. This apartment may be my favorite interior EVER and is an inspiration to anyone who has an avant garde or eclectic bone in their body. Jean Michel Frank could not have done this better. Adler is a genius!!!!

There are quirky elements everywhere you turn. It makes each room a scavenger hunt to find all the interesting details. They are definitely not afraid to color outside the lines! A beautiful example is how they hung the Ed Paschke painting low enough where it cuts through the architectural detail of the paneling! It draws even more attention to the piece by placing a portion of it “outside the lines”! Bravo!

Their apartment has become the recycled mattress of the design world, it's full of outdated mid century modern furniture and although undergoing renovations, still manages to look always the same-- it's better than any interior I'd be able to manifest, it looks fabulous, I'm insane jealous- and always love looking at the seemingly endless tours of their houses!
Not normally a fan of this pop art style but this is so well done I think it’s brilliant. The passion and knowledge about individual pieces shows how real it is. The black + blue painting in the bedroom is fantastic 😀👍👍👍👍
