  • Deer hair. Who ever was the first to spin deer hair for fly tying is a flipping genius.
Hi, I'm Jordan Cook and I am going to take you on an adventure that will teach you how and how not to spin deer hair.
I want to point out that I am not a pro fly tyer but I do love it. I try to have the most fun doing it and keep these tying videos fun so they are much more watchable then the other tying videos out there.
Deer hair frog flies are great for pike and bass. My favorite way to catch pike and bass are top water and this top water fly gets the job done in a big way.
Thank you for joining me in my little world here. All respect and love to the greatest sport that is Fly fishing.

Thanks for being real. Gives us deer-hair mortals some hope that we don't have to be perfect to be good.

Nothin' like blowing up a deer hair tie. Been there, done that. It *is* impressive, though! 🙂

I am a deer hunter and use every possible piece of my harvest so I have access to ample amounts of deer hair. Hit me up this winter and I can mail you some.

Thanks for sharing the ups and downs of tying flies for your use. Commercial fly makers go a little to fast and assume a watcher has a lot of experience in getting everything ready to tie "their" creation.

I usually purchase my deer hair (Natures Spirit) from my local fly shop. I purchase it by the pound, but you can purchase individual packages.. Nature Spirit has a line of deer hair called "spinning hair". I would suggest that for your application. It is cow elk, and works fantastic. Hope this helps.
