I would keep a bag of that deer 🌽 🦌 corn for planting and try and grow and dry it to cut out from buying deer feed if possible.
You can do that, just alot of work. If you don’t have enough land to grow a lot you just wasting your time.

you should cut fire lanes in your property and burn a fifth-1/8 once in the winter. I creates more grass, less ticks(die from fire) and clears lanes by killing bushy nonnative trees

Good work out there. I have a few small things to finish up at my spot 10-14 is opening day for rifle season. I just have a little 5 gallon bucket feeder strapped to a tree how high should I have it off the ground.
If you have hogs, high enough where the hogs want tear it up. At least a good 5ft the deer can stand up if needed to.

If my silviculture memory is correct yall can get rid of all those sweet gum saplings and root sprouts with a prescribed burn like you did for that leaf litter in your yard.

Once again thank you for taking us along on the preparation tutorial on the deer stands. It's been many years since I had the opportunity to hunt. Being from California (South central) we would have to travel all the way to Palmdale Lancaster to hunt Jack rabbits, and to Firebaugh Fresno for pheasant back in the 60s. I'm making preparations to do some hunting here in texas soon, again thanks for the trip. 😊

I had the same problem with sweetgum trees a couple of years ago so I start spraying them with a mixture of 2 4 D and round up and seems to work pretty well.

Ur Fortunate U still got Ur Pops I lost my 83 year old Pops during this month Oct of 2016. I spent time with him as much as I could, life is shorter than we think. It’s Awesome 👏 to see U and Ur Boys doing things with your Pops, that’s admirable bro my hat’s 🧢 off to anyone who spends “Quality time” with & does things for their elders.

Probably Crockett but we only have 100 acres over there. We have access to 360 acres in Deberry just north of Carthage

That fiberglass stand is about $1500 brother. It is a very nice stand. I got one a year ago. Built a trailer under it to move it wherever I wanted. One thing is for sure. It won't rot and leak. Carpet the walls if you get one. It works like insulation. And you don't get the fiber glass splinters from the wall.
I hunt in Crockett too. Hope it’s some good hunting this year. Good looking out on the corn. I’ve been paying $12 bucks from Bucee’s
