What Does Bae Think of American Fast-Food? 【Hakos Baelz - hololive English】

- Hi everyone!
There's probably enough fast-food chains in the US for someone to eat at one different chain every day for two weeks, every year, for like a decade lmao
Glad to see Bae got to try it, though! Now it's Americans' turn to try Nando's!
Have a good day and take care!

The Owl is fattening up the rat. Excellent plan.
The cycle of American fast food summed up perfectly.
Reminded me of Kikuri's Spiral of Happiness.
She isn’t wrong, Wendy’s has great chili
I can't remember the last time I've had it, because I make some really insanely good chili that my friends often ask me to make for gatherings... But steak n shake...I used to love their chili. I had it in like 2018 after about 15 years of not having it, and I freaking hated it lol
Not really worth $5 but it's good
@@jm-fe1iz$3.69 where I live, but they also now sell a family tub for $15
Best chilli Iv ever tasted was called Southgate chilli but company went under
Wendy's has great good, as far as fast food goes, but consistently terrible service.
“Foreigners discovering why the US has an obesity crisis and why they’re not escaping it while they’re here.”
Many such cases.
America as a less obesity crisis that tonga and other Pacific Island nations. America is 12th in obesity. Outside of America being tied for obesity between the genders, the female across all other countries with high obesity rates is more obese than the male by an average of 20%!
Junk food is a choice so is excersize
@@DANCERcowcope
That or people failing to take responsibility for their choices
@@kirikohopps363It may technically be a choice, but the fact that there's a fast food place every 100m, advertisements shoved down your throat left and right, and it's cheap and convenient makes it hard to choose otherwise
The worst part of it is that it costs about the same to go to good sit in restaurant and eat there.
Heck in some cases it's even way cheaper!
We got this amazing little family owned Mexican restaurant just down the street from where I am that serves up some of the best stuff I've ever had and it costs like 2/3rds what a trip to McDonald's does!
Fast food goes through price cycles. It was expensive during my childhood up until about 1988, then it started getting cheaper and cheaper, to the point that around 2015 or so it was cheaper to get McDonald's then to prepare food. And then after that the prices have just skyrocketed.
@@davidbigboutay782 Somehow I think $18+ for a basic big mac meal is a bit more than just being the result of a cycle.
You guys are so lucky. Food is absurdly expensive in Canada, for us eating out is a treat. You guys can eat out anytime you want.
2 lb Mexican breakfast burrito with barely any potato: 10 USD.
2 lb Wendy's? 50 USD easily.
@@ASpyNamedJames Do you guys have absurd tipping practices like we do as well? Or is that not as common up there?
Man, I must be built different because fast food does absolutely nothing to me except fill my belly with delicious food.

She is a smol lady that isn't used to large portions and greasy foods.
You've built up the correct fauna and bacteria in your gut to withstand it. It's why when people complain Taco Bell makes them sick I'm just like "You are too weak for our ecosystem and you will be culled."
@brreakfastYT Yeah I think we're all just so used to it at this point too
You might have a fast metabolism or something then, but you should get checked for other risk factors. My Uncle is a bean pole, despite eating a ton of Southern food, but he had to get triple bypass surgery because his arteries got clogged.
That’s why always tell my friends from different countries when they visit that they should never eat fast food here if you want to experience real good American food. I always take them to local spots or restaurants
Good point. We've got loads of different cuisine here than just the big chains you see on commercials. Diners, pizzerias, mexican, seafood, you can find plenty of great smaller places if you go off the beaten path.
Fortunately she didn't suffer any stomach problems from it. I had McDonald's the other day and I had the runs afterwards
My stomach can’t handle Burger King at all. Which is weird because it’s the only stomach I know that can tolerate Taco Bell
@@crimsonmaelstrom573I can tolerate Taco Bell as well

I'm so fortunate enough to have gotten sick of fast food a long time ago. It has gotten really expensive lately.
Clearly didn't have an American Salad. Salads are deceptive, the general consensus is salads are healthy, but the reality is depending on what you put on them, they can be worse and more fattening than mc donalds. I knew a girl who was complaining how all she ever ate was salad and couldn't lose weight, she was actually gaining weight. Ranch dressing+crutons+bacon+cheese+other things I can't fully remember, made every salad she ate like ~800 calories each.
unironically the bacon and cheese are probably the healthiest things on what you've just described, they're like the only things with protein in it and the only things that actually keeps you full for more than half an hour before you need to get your next one.
the problem is that, even without all the high calorie stuff you just listed salad isn't healthy, since it has little nutritional value, it's mostly just water and fibre, so your body just keeps craving more food afterwards, you might as well just drink water to fill up your stomach because it does basically the same thing.
one way to make a salad one hell of a lot healthier would be to replace the bacon and cheese with chicken and/or fish and to use cod liver oil for the dressing, but at that point i'd rather just eat chicken/fish and down a shot of cod liver oil a day because that shit is nasty, so the quicker it's down, the better.
i do recommend anyone try cod liver oil still, it has a LOT of stuff in it that many people (especially children) are deficient in (mainly vitamin D) and it's like a second of gross stuff in your mouth that you can just wash away by chasing it down with a glass of water.
I'd recommend Trader Joe's or Whole Foods for healthy groceries but if they want to Uber Eats then the Wawa store is 100% a lifesaver if they're on the east coast.
Imagining a rat girl pulling into my local Wawa store is a hilarious thought though. 😂
Expensive af those places. But I guess they have money.
I wish Wawa’s were all over the country, same thing with Bucky’s.
Aldi is also a good cheaper healthy option.
but there is no Wawa in NY or at least i think most shut down
Wawa is insanely based, but alas, only on the east coast. If cover ever comes out to a northeast or florida con, then they can hit up Wawa.
I haven't had In-N-Out in a while. Gonna have to change that.

I was deployed to poland for a year, and ngl I think it was pretty easy for me to eat whatever n stay healthy. Even going to McD. After coming home n eating McDs, I cant think of them the same. Poland McDs tastes tons better than McDs in the states.
I've heard from so many people that oversea's McD tastes better than USA McD.
@@crazy338866 u can add me to that list. I’m pretty certain that EU’s restrictions on food ingredients is a big part in that. Since here in the states, u got ingredients you can’t pronounce.

I only eat fast food once a week. Also, American portions are large because one word "leftovers".
Why am I not surprised she didn't enjoy it much (or was very conscious about it).
I don't even know Bae's food preferences and I don't think it's because they had live shows to participate so they stay well as possible. Heh.
I recommend Cookout for having the most cost-efficient combos that I know of.
It's true, tastes amazing, feels like death

The only work around I could think of with American fast food is to order a meal ans spread it our over 2 meals (ie. lunch & dinner)

There is a reason they call us fat
American fast food is dogshit from a health perspective, and sadly costwise also these days. but buying and eating healthy has been engineered to be the biggest goddamn hassle in the country.... Good on her for trying to keep it healthy. Food coma's are no joke.
You're pretty lazy if you can't eat healthy in America, this is the easiest country in the world to be healthy in.
@@kidfox3971Actually it's not. It's highly dependent on where you live. Some places don't have access to grocery stores, or have limited access. Meat and fresh vegetables are more expensive. Like, individually a pepper might not cost much, but of you need to feed a family and you are cooking it... you need several. And vegetables cook down depending on what you are making. And they are perishable. Plus, meal planning takes time and energy and you have to know how to cook. Some people have never learned or were never taught. Shelf-stable, processed foods are cheaper. But they're likely to be full of carbs, added sugar, and sodium. Not the protein and fiber you need.
Aside from access, none of these are excuses not to try. But acting like it's easy is just wrong. Just look at all the commercials for those pre-prepared meals or cooking kits you can get mailed to your door. Those exist because meal planning and cooking is difficult for people who already have jobs and other responsibilities.
Also, once you've developed health issues related to eating, like diabetes and obesity and all the related problems that come along with it... those issues make it harder to get back to a healthy normal. Your best bet is to be healthy so you don't end up there in the first place, but that's easier said than done, especially as you get older.
Eh the whole of the west need to chill out with the fast food and sugar in everything and get back to whole wheat bread and veggies.
@@kidfox3971 don't worry, inflation will fix that right up so those delicious fast food chains can all stay in business while the local mom-and-pops that don't use bioengineered cancer oil in their food go under.
@kidfox3971 yep, literal skill issue. I buy fresh produce at the cheap grocery store, you can bake your proteins, grains are easy to portion out, etc.
It requires going against your lizard brain & being disciplined about your food intake.
I live in a small rural Canadian town with very few fast food places (no Mexican stuff for example). We got Wendy's for the first time last year and it was a BIG deal. My only complaint is the music is trash. They do have pretty good salads, maybe Bae ought to have tried those?
American fast food is more like a drug than food
I mean she's right cant just uber doritos thats foolish might as well be worth it 😂

I always found Wendy's better than Burger King or Mcdonalds. Especially Mcdonalds. Too expensive for so little food. At least with Wendy's I get far with $10. Mcdonalds that's a small drink and a really small burger nowadays.
I need a Bae in my life so I can eat healthy! I need someone to keep myself in check because I don't keep myself in check all the time! Sometimes I want Oreos but I want 2 servings! I should only have 1 but I REALLY WANT OREOS! The flip side of this is Broccoli is not safe around me and asking to surrender the Broccoli is NEVER and you should have made a sacrifice of Broccoli but I'm also fulling up on Broccoli so I won't eat that much dinner because of all the Broccoli I CONSUMED!
and people wonder why Murica pushes for “fat positivity” so much 😂
Bae kinda looks like the Wendy's girl in that outfit
'Murica.
Yo quiero taco bell
Fast food is a lunch food, not a dinner food
Fast food isn't food
Y'know, with how foreigners react to American fast food, I can't help but wonder how much healthier I'd be if I just moved somewhere overseas for a few years
...Are we really that bad?....
You mean in terms of American fast food? Yeah, yeah we are. Want to know what happens to a McDonald's cheeseburger if you let it sit for like, five years? It doesn't grow mold. Instead, it turns into a glass-like substance, and if you huck it at a wall, it _will_ shatter into a bunch of sharp shards. Ask me how I know.
At least McDonald's and Burger King, in America, fast food is basically poison that is made to vaguely resemble food. A large part of the problem is that here in America, we subsidize the production of so much corn and soybean. If you have a 'gluten allergy' in America, but you go eat bread from Japan, it won't trigger your gluten allergy.
American obesity rates are what they are because so much of our food is foul. Same for heart disease and cancer rates. What makes it worse, is if you try to figure out exactly what major agricorporations are putting in the food, not only do they not tell you, but they have armies of lawyers and lobbyists that essentially make it legal for them to stonewall you as much as they can from actually finding out the truth.
Want to really have your mind blown, and your blood frozen? Look up how much the drug 'Ozempic' earns in net profits annually, and who the biggest investors in it are. It's not a coincidence that the same people trying to keep us all obese, are making a hilariously large amount of money from selling a weight loss drug, with _horrific_ side-effects, I might add.
I have more to say on this subject, but if I get one more warning from UA-cam, I'll get banned, again.
I could never go to he us for any amount of time for any reason. My body refuses to tip so I'll happily stay out😘
bae is very brave eating Wendy's Chili
Well...nothing in this world is really healthy. It's how much you eat now days. I lost 30 pounds so far and still have 55 to go. 💪
Junk food doesn't exist, it's arguably not real but a simple label used for food with "little to no nutritional value" even that is subjective. Junk food as a concept is subjective!
Yep, that's America, alright.
The true American Experience.
(escape if you can)
Yes, you have the freedom and the option to eat however you want. You also have the freedom to eat perfectly healthy, this is why we have outperformed every nation in the world at the Olympics. America is the easiest country in the world to be unhealthy and healthy in, we thank God for such plenty every Thanksgiving.
"this is why we have outperformed every nation in the world at the Olympics"

in addition Olympics is not an eating competition. you have to train for a medal.
Our companies are regularly getting exposed for putting lead and other heavy metals or known and suspected cancerous chemicals into people’s (often children’s) food and items.
Never forget the molasses flood due to the great American past time of cutting corners where possible and then waving off the reported danger and bribing officials until its ‘ok’ and then killing blocks of innocent townsfolk.
Olympic medals are loosely based on how wealthy a country is, because only in a stable, wealthy country can you train everyday for the Olympics and have other people who are well off either the Olympic committee or family members pay for you to do those things.
The only outliers are countries that emphasize sports like some of the Balkans or dictatorship countries like Cuba and China

You've made quite a few leaps in logic there chief. That right there's an excellent example of a hasty generalization statement.
