“introducing” DUCKS 🦆 with CHICKENS 🐓 (yep it’s possible)

- It’s very possible to have chickens and ducks together. Anytime you introduce new chickens or ducks to a flock, do you want to do it carefully. If you throw some food on the ground all the chickens to the flock are kind of busy packing around eating and this makes the transition a bit easier

i had a chicken that got aggressive when we went around his friend the duck, she had just passed away and angry self just went away and i feel really bad for him and i got another duck that looked just like duck and he was so so happy 🥰
That went better then me introducing my new chicks to the coop. I gave up and just built a new coop.
I must have really nice chickens because when I introduced my ducklings, they did not attack or peck at them. They went up to them and checked them out, but no aggression at all. I have all hens though, no roosters. They all get along beautifully and have been together ever since! The ducks can be super greedy when I take out their bowl of fresh veggies in the morning. They like to try and scarf it all down lol. They are like that with other treats also! Crickets/mealworms etc. Anyone else’s ducks like that?

You are right ducks do have submerge their beak but their whole head, this is so they can clear their nostrils. As I have discovered with my duck hens, they LOVE foraging in the dirt and they have dirty beaks and nostrils after grazing. I have to say it is very cute☺😇

Alright we have here some chickens and ducks
I find the best way to introduce them is to place the ducks or new chickens a metal dog crate inside the run. that way everybody can see and smell each other without being physically pecked. they get used to each other's presence and is not as traumatic for both parties. then I let them out and scatter the feed. The pecking order is less stressful this way.

Hi I have Ducklin about the same size. And my chicks are about 3months old. Can you feed them same food. I feed chicks the medicated feed. Will Ducklin be ok with the same food
How old are they when you first tried? How old are they when you took this video? I have 12 chickens but just bought 3 ducks and actually had an egg hatch in my incubator. My grown chickens are 1 year old, ducks are 2 weeks, newborn chick is 2 days old.
How long is the pecking order process. Because my ducks keep fighting
@@redhook9186 so we have 2 big chickens that are around 2 years old, and female. We than bought 2 ducks and 2 chickens, the chickens are girls and we don’t know the gender of the ducks yet. They get along great since they have always lived together. They are around a month and a half old. And about a week ago we got 3 geese, and don’t know the gender yet.
The older chickens roam around the property and sleep in there own coop at night . The little ducks and chickens stay in this 20 by 20ft cage and sleep in some large bucket/tub. While the geese live in this big cardboard box, and go outside for walks everyday.
None of the groups of birds live together yet, but we try and introduce them for moments at a time before things get to bad. We are waiting till they get similar in size, and more friendly with eachother before they all move in to one big coop.
By cage I mean we put up fencing outside

Guys, You should not Put those little ducks in there like that. Wait at least until they are feathered out. Those poor things don’t even have feathers yet:( this is a BIG RED FLAG❌❌❌❌
But yes, U can still have chickens and ducks together.
It's a big mistake to put these ducklings with these grown chickens, they were very afraid, must to put them in another safe place
There too small to let them go 😢😢
