Thanks again for the shout out for SACT. Im happy to see that youre enjoying the journey of learning to calibrate and experimenting with various methods. Im curious what a nearfield measurement of your speakers are post-EQ. If you ever try that and make a video, I'll make sure to check it out.
Always good to get another MEQ-X video from you, Carl. I look forward to trying to lower resolution (3 PPO) outputs because I've also always felt that 96 PPO sounds extremely dry and clinical. I think that could be an explanation as to why Audyssey's automatic filters sound more exciting - to me - that the inverted filters at 96 resolution. One thing that is strange in my setup is I switched from a ~2012 Denon AVR-4311 to an AVR-X6800H and lipsync is a constant issue. How much audio delay did you end up with on your A1H?
Thanks. It really depends on what sound you like. Certainly 3ppo changes the sounds, thats for sure. so it's really about experimenting and seeing which one you like. I'm kinda switching back and forth all the time to be honest just to see which type of sound I like.
@@hdmoviesource I bought a Dirac Live Bass Control license during their Black Friday sale. I will say that there isn’t near as much customizability as MEQ-X (precise distances, precise trims, excluding measurements, etc) but the sound is pretty incredible. The bass is so well integrated to the mains and center. They both have their pros and cons. Too bad Dirac would t offer you a license to try out to see if you like it better than your best calibration with MEQ-X
@@hdmoviesource It's hard to say whether you will enjoy it or not. There is far more customizability in MEQ-X. To me, the bass with Dirac Live Bass Control - especially crossover bass - is better than I've ever got with MEQ-X and I had excellent bass with MEQ-X. But will it be worth it to you to perhaps gain better integrated bass at a loss of customizability? With DLBC filters, you cannot adjust levelsor crossovers in the receiver once the filters are uploaded so there could always be that itch to fine tune without the ability to do so.
Top Videos, Thanks!!!! Your Calibration is now always with tilt the Umik to 90 degree (to the Hight Speakers) with the 90 degree File ? (Is in a Viodeo from you). Stupid Question: The Umik directed on every Speaker with the 0 degree File is not an option?😊
I don't point the mic directly at the speakers, I felt that it didn't sound as good. I leave the microphone in one position now. It's easier to calibrate with and to get everything timed in one single position.
That’s weird that you’re getting different levels between the Panasonic and the Reavon. I feel like something is up with the Reavon maybe? I have the SACT disc and the files as well. I played the surround back left periodic pink noise on disc on my Sony X800m2 and the file on my Zidoo Z9x and both were EXACTLY the same level.
@@hdmoviesource That’s pretty concerning for Reavon since they market and price that as a very premium player. I have a the Sony x800m2 in my theater and the Panasonic 820 for my OLED. If ever get the chance to hook them both up to the same system to compare I can report back. It’s just such a weird issue because bitstream is bitstream, there should be no variation as it’s just passing the signal along. Maybe there was some hidden setting in the Reavon that was doing something?
Denon A1H 😍 have you done a Dirac calibration yet? I'll check your videos to see as I've not noticed one! I'm curious when you will have a opinion on what is your best "so far" calibration choice.
How are you volume matching each speaker to lets say 75db? I have been pointing the Umik1 straight up from MLP using the cal file issued to this mic (not the 90 degree one) and running SACT pink noise while using RTA within REW to get the speakers avg volume. The adjust up or down within the MultEQX app.
@hdmoviesource so if you sweep and it's 79.8 (on the ctr channel) at 1000hz x 2 octaves. And once you click align spl and it drops to 74.8 do you then apply - 4 to the ctr channel and then match every spkr to 74.8 whether it's plus or minus on all channels or do you click align spl to 75db and whatever it calculates after that you add or subtract whatever spl rew generates that volume too?
Another great calibration video. I'm definitely buying this disc now. What you can do with this disc looks incredible!
Thank you so much, have a great Christmas! If you need anything, just let me know.

SACT is absolutely 💯 a must if you are are serious about getting the most out of your system.
Agreed.
Thank you Carl.
Thank Cheekster, how's it going? Hope you have a good Christmas!

Oh, LOL.
Another great calibration video Carl.
Thank you Carl.
Thanks Dan. I recently just finished another calibration after this video, Trying something new with power.
@ really Carl, I'm looking forward to your new calibration! I wish you good luck and success with the calibration
Thanks Dan.
Great video, thank you.
Thanks! Cheers!
I'm always finding a reason to tweak my set up weekly lol 😅 addiction is a real thing hahaha
Yeah, it's getting pretty bad for me too, lol.

Can you calibrate each speaker using Dirac?

@@hdmoviesource You not change the Mic Angle from the ground Speaker to the Hights?
Not anymore no.

I think it's the Reavon yeah, I no longer use the player personally.

Most people would say they're the same, it's just a minor tweak, but the balance is so good now.

I sweep the channels, and average the SPL at the exact same volume as my center channel.
@hdmoviesource so if you sweep and it's 79.8 (on the ctr channel) at 1000hz x 2 octaves. Pretty much yeah. It may not be exact, but it should be about right yes Christian.
@@hdmoviesource to the first part or the second part?
👌
Thanks.
